Great follow-up. Courteous people. On time.
So easy! One call. Immediate communication as to when truck would be picked up. No need for me to drive to drop it off. Picked up on time. Notification when truck was sold and what I needed to do to claim tax credit. Quick response to this as well.
1) My initial call to “Vehicles for Veterans” was easy. Call operator took my information and promised I would be contacted by a towing company to haul my car away. I was told I could select my pickup time for my convenience. 2) Within 24 hours a tow service called to make arrangements for my car pickup at a repair shop. I didn’t have as much flexibility for my desired pickup time as promised but all worked out well and I met the tow truck driver at the repair shop a couple days later to give him my keys and a signed Title. He was very courteous and since the car still was operational he drove it onto the bed of his truck and drove off within 15 minutes. 3) I was kept informed with each step of the process by email and received a receipt for my donated car. I would receive notice of the actual auctioned sale of the car if it sold for more than the default $500 tax claim amount. 4) Within a month I received a letter in the mail that the car auctioned for $925 and if I wanted to claim this amount as a 2024 tax deduction instead of the default $500, I should send my social security number back to Vehicles for Vets. This I diid using the Vehicles for Vets stamped envelope. 4) Not long after, I received in the mail a Federal tax form 1098-C “Contributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats, and Airplanes” confirming a donation of $925 for my donated car. I will use this when preparing my 2024 taxes. 5) I needed to inform my state of Minnesota that I had donated my car. By law the license plates had to follow the car and not be removed. I also needed to inform State Farm insurance t that I had donated the car and to let the current policy expire ( it had only a month left before renewal) 6) In summary my car donation process was simple and proceeded in a timely manner with no problems.
I would 100% have given Vehicles for Veterans 5 stars and have no complaints, because they said they would take care of everything and all documentation would be taken care of on their end the moment they took possession of the car. I tried to do a transfer of vehicle notification, however, I never memorized my license plate and I didn't have that information on me so I couldn't file it without it. Well, the car was sold and I got my tax return information AS WELL AS A BILL FROM EZ-PASS saying I owe $50 in tolls, for roads I don't drive on, but my old car does. So much for taking care of all documentation??? Now I'm on the hook for these tolls, and who knows how many more tolls will be sent to my address because the 'veteran' who bought my car still has my tags and has not taken ownership of the car. Edit 5/28/24 12:33pm I received a call from Vehicles for Veterans and talked with one of the representatives of VfV about the issue above. They took ownership of the problem and resolved to do right by me and gathered as much information as I could provide them to resolve the issue with EZ-PASS AND the DMV. They have assured me this is not how they run their foundation and even offered to pay any and all fees for EZ-PASS. It was a pleasant conversation and they also resolved to fix wherever the breakdown in this wonderful system occurred so that others like me do not have to go through this issue as well. I hope that if you read low reviews to see what can go wrong that this review does not dissuade you from donating your vehicle to VfV. They truly did their due diligence and wish to make this as seamless and as smooth a process for everyone.
Everyone was knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. The whole process took less than a week. It would’ve been completed sooner, but they took my schedule to account. I wouldn’t hesitate to donate another car through them.
Quick and easy process to donate my late husband's car.
The process was easy and well done. I was able to schedule a pickup at a convenient time and everything was done smoothly and with no hassle. I"m happy that I was able to contribute something that might hekp someone else. Thank you.
This was a great experience. I was glad to have my late husband's truck going to a good cause. The man who picked up our truck was kind, knowledgeable and respectful. We received the paperwork as promised for tax purposes in a timely manner, the whole process was handled perfectly. Thank you.
I highly recommend donating your vehicle with this organization. It is a worthwhile cause all around. I am dealing with an out of state family death and what to do with the car was just 1 of many things to handle. This org is very responsive, lots of communication, handles so much for you, taking a lot of the stress away. They came with a tow truck a day after the paperwork was completed. Thank you for the help!
Absolutely one of the best decisions I have ever made. Would utilize this company again if I ever needed too.
They are working to help our veterans, we need to support this company, let's take care of the heroes who put their lives in danger for our freedom.
Process went really well. Guy that picked up vehicle was great. My gripe is that I have not received anything showing I made the donation and what it was worth. If that had been taken care of, I’d give the process and organization a 5 rating
Driver Happened to be in neighborhood so offered to come immediately after we called. We knew the car wouldn’t start without a charge but the driver used a portable, started right up and he was able to drive onto street. We had talked about donating for months, but were a little reluctant to part with our ‘beach mobile, as the grandkids called it. Having the transaction go so fast was painless. Happy to help a little!
YOUR COMPANY DID WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD. YOU WERE ON TIME AND HONEST, I AM THE SON OF A PURPLE HEART AWARDED VET. I WILL TELL ANYONE I CAN ABOUT YOUR PROGRAM AND I WILL USE IT AGAIN. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
I'm so glad you were able to sell my motorcycle to benefit the veterans cause. It makes me feel good that it went to a good cause.
Punctually They arrived on time and quickly took the vehicle.
My experience was fantastic. They showed up on time signed the proper paperwork unloaded the car to go no matter how difficult and tight the space was.
Fast friendly, & an amazingly large network of businesses involved over a large geographic area. From mechanics, to logistics, to legalities, the details of vehicle title laws in multiple states….i was surprised how many different people from different offices called me, a different person handling each aspect of gathering information about the condition & location of the vehicle, & being very considerate of the timing of the hauler’s arrival. EVERYONE was kind friendly patient & informative !
The quickness of response
The process to donate my dad’s truck was super easy. He was always a huge supporter of our Veteran’s and I know he would’ve been happy with my decision.
