Review summary
Townends Estate Agents has room for improvement based on customer feedback. Customers particularly appreciate professional and service, though some mention concerns about communication and customer service.
Absolute sharks on the letting side. They really don't care about the tenants or the community around the property they let. They will think nothing about putting bad tenants in a property which impacts the rest of the street. The so called helpline you get passed over to the attitude is horrendous and so rude. This is a money grabbing company with no shame.
I use them to manage my property for renting.
Poor service. Tenants complain that it takes weeks to get a response. I don't receive communication, sometimes for 6 months on urgent matters.
Neighbors file complaints about the property and Townends don't resolve issues which leaves everyone unhappy.
Avoid this company.
Awful estate agents. Avoid at all costs. Lied from the start, were incompetent throughout and never got the job done. The initial sales guy was useless, and so were all his colleagues.
Part way through they were taken over by another company and no-one told me. Despite me telling them to leave me alone I still get regular calls from them harassing me. Next time I will put a restraining order on the company
Absolute incompetents, did not fix central heating for 1 month and they lied in the contract, and a long etc. Horrible experience, took the case to the Courts of Law and won it. They made absolute fools of themselves, embarrassing. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
this is the worst ever estate agents if it were down to me they would have no existence on our high streets. staff members very unprofessional who need to be trained on the benefits of good customer service.
if you are Black or from any ethnic background please save yourself the embarrassment go to another estate agent.
Worst service ever! Poor responsiveness and communication, no understanding of the many issues I had in my flat.
At some point, I was left for more than 10 days without hot water at all and when I called them to inform that I will stop paying the rent until it's fixed, they replied that "in this case, they will cancel the planned work and I will stay without hot water".
When I had massive cracks appearing on the walls and ceiling, they sent a Salesman to look at the issue.
On various occasions, they had "lost" the pictures I had sent to them.
These are only a few examples of the numerous issues I had in this flat and the poor service I received from them and their partners.
Definitely the worst estate agent I came across in 20 years of renting (16 flats in 4 different countries, never had such a bad experience).
Been renting with other agencies, but the Staines branch of Townends is the single worst agency I seen so far. Slow response to maintenance request, very bad communication and the customer service is below zero.
Absolutely the worst agent ever in 20…LANDLORDS AVOID
Absolutely the worst agent ever in 20 years of renting out properties and deserve no stars. Landlords do NOT use them, their fully managed service is fully managed inefficiency and they do nothing to help. They have caused me a lot of stress by not paying bills when they should have as my managing agent. Please do not believe anything they say as they are not honourable. Words actually fail me as to how bad they are.
Hi my name is Jackson Spinola I’m here To say thanks to Taija Bryan she’s very hard worker, and she help a lot on the renting off there house I’m now thanks a lot Taija Bryan.
Great service from Thomas at Townends. Dead supportive in light of my solicitors doing nothing, making mistakes left right and centre
Hopefully taking their advixe and changing solicitors
Great support with the rest
Awful with students. Please be careful, they're untrustworthy for student housing.
This was my first experience with estate agents. As a group of students looking for a property, I would have expected the process to be smooth and the estate agents to make it clear to us what was happening. This was not the case. First we arrived a viewing for the property where there was also another group waiting for us. The agent said this was a very popular property and that six beds were rare in this area. Everything she said was in a way that came across as pressuring and time sensitive. It was made clear that if we didn't come to the agents today, there was a high risk we would loose it. So we decided to go to the agent. I ended up being there alone because other members of the group had classes. I was in there for two and a half hours by myself. They kept asking me to get everyone to sign documents to send to the others and if they didn't we'd loose the house. Whilst sat on the sofa frantically trying to get the others to respond to the email, I was then told we had to pay £800 today to secure the house. We could only find half this amount in this time which they finally accepted. Frankly, I felt bullied to pay them as they kept threatening I would loose the house. After I had paid the money I was told I can leave! The next day the group decided that we did not want to go ahead with the house as they did not trust Townends. In fact, six beds are one of the most common houses left for students, with many still on the market. I rang to ask for the money back, that was apparently non-refundable and they bullied me, again, into keep the house. During this time, they bombarded guarantors with email after email. I then emailed in and said we did not want to continue with the house, giving them my bank details to refund the money after being advised there was no legal reason for them to keep it. I ended up getting my parents to ring them, who even tried to pull the same crap with my parents. Eventually they said they'll give me the money back and tried to blame me by saying that I was lucky to get the money back. Moral of this is do not trust Townends. They were bullies, which I am sure comes with the tight property market, but to make people feel like they have no other choice is unacceptable. Since then we have had other exchanges with different estate agents which have been pleasant and far less stressful. Just be careful.
Diana and Ivana where really helpful in helping me find the ideal home to move into. They were great when it came to communicating and where always truthful to me when it came to giving me information about my renting options.
I would highly recommend renting from them for anyone who needs an honest agent (which are very hard to come by these days)
Huge thanks to Aggie from Chiswick Townends for finding our dream home. Excellent communication along the entire process made it stress free. Thanks Aggie!
I rented a property through these it was worse of my life I had to give up my job as child care was a issue I needed to change date of rent to do this charged me half a month's rent for this then when I needed a back boiler fixing it took a year and they only had it sorted when I was leaving the men on the phone talk to women like crap think we are stupid then when I left I left a small skip of rubbish baring I was alone with 4 kids I said could pay the 200 of my deposit for a skip they went and got a company charging me nearly a months rent to remove few bits n also most was already there from last tenant as it wasn't clean when I moved in I paid alot of money re doing a kitchen with my own money got carpets n laminate through out and they threw a bill at me like that for small amounts left then when came to me wanting my halfs month rent taken of my last months rent it's vanished dnt no what I am on about bullsh** never use these I have never met a more nasty set of people now need to learn how to communicate correctly when others are in a bad situation why make it worse with lies n lack of remorse communication issue with the lot of them at idle branch!!!
