I am deeply frustrated with Tomato Energy's billing accuracy. My July 2025 bill for the period of 1 June 2025 to 30 June 2025 was calculated using an estimated meter reading, despite my submission of actual meter readings on 29 June 2025 and 30 June 2025. This resulted in a discrepancy of 158 kWh. For context, my usage last month was less than 100 kWh, making the estimate over 1.5 times my typical consumption.This inaccurate estimate has led to a potentially inflated bill, which is completely unacceptable. I urge Tomato Energy to correct the bill using my submitted readings and overhaul their billing process to prevent such errors. This experience has completely eroded my trust in their service, and I highly NOT recommend Tomato Energy as a service provider. Once my contract term ends, I will switch to another provider and advise all my friends to avoid using Tomato Energy.

Leaving this as I'm seeing a lot of negativity around Tomato that, from my experience, I don't think is entirely justified.
I switched to Tomato and their Lifestyle fixed tariff at the end of last year. Easy switch, no issues and saw immediate savings. I read about their Tomatopia Solar deal, enquired and went for it.
The biggest headache with this was getting approval from my Mortgage company, it took 6 weeks! It also took a while to get some of my questions about the contract answered, which worried me a bit, but I was eventually satisfied.
The survey went well but it was decided I'd need the battery installed outside. This was more costly than I expected and also being charged for the bird netting nearly made me cancel.
The install itself went well, took two days. Only without power for about 45 minutes. Scaffolders and installers were friendly.
Post-install I have two main issues:
1) A 3.9kVA inverter was fitted. In my opinion too small for 14 panels and a 10kWh battery. I'm already seeing clipping. Seems they went for a G98 instead of a G99, I want at least a 5kVA one as was proposed.
2) They installers left a number of large marks on the panels. I've been assured the panels will be cleaned during a final inspection. But I've yet to hear a date for this and even had the scaffolder around today asking me if I'd heard anything as they haven't!
I have e-mailed both Tomato and the installers but go no response. So fearing the worse I phoned the CS line today. To my surprise I got straight through to a chap called John, who was very friendly and helpful, though not all my issues were addressed.
I was promised a call back from an installation manager later today and will update accordingly. My opinion and rating may change!

Inverter upgrade has been approved, just waiting on a date.
Panels were cleaned this morning.
Both Tomato and Nothern Gas Heating (installer) have kept in touch, so looking positive for a resolution of all the issues.
Tomato Energy have been a pleasure to work with throughout the term of our contracts. Their fast action on any queries raised is greatly appreciated. They have a great team taking calls. I have recently spoken to Karolina, who was truly such a pleasure. She has ensured all my queries have been passed to the correct department, as well as ensuring I hold all required supporting documents. Thank you Karolina! Highly recommend Tomato Energy.
Signed up 1st March - told would be transferred from Eon on 8th March. Did not happen, phoned and was told transfer in process. Account was created and direct debit set up. Phoned today 16th April to check progress and have been advised that they are not taking on new customers. Why have I not been informed it was not proceeding ? Meanwhile have missed out on other tariff deals and no further forward. Terrible service - avoid this company at all costs .
Fantastic company for price bit confused at start but after a couple of months everything working fine will be sticking with tomato hopefully get problems sorted
Still waiting after two months for my switch to take place
I asked to switch to tomato energy 11 feb 2025, it is now 15th April 2025. I received the contract, direct debit mandate etc, then nothing still with edf. I have phoned twice to ask what is happening, been told it will be sorted beginning of April, still nothing. No communication, I am not alone with this problem, as they have had to stop signing up new customers. I am now finding it hard to believe the 5 star reviews on this site when they are getting it so wrong with others?
I joined Tomato in Jan 2025 from SO energy , and was pleasantly surprised from the start at the standing charge rate, meaning that even if I didn't take advantage of the lower energy costs included in my tariff , I would still be saving money.
The rate between 1-6am is excellent, and didn't take too long to get used to using it.
The only down side was the smart meter display didn't show the unit cost, but given that the MyWatts app is constantly updated and accurate, it really wasn't that much of an issue.
I did have to contact Tomato to change my account details, and was also very pleased with the efficiency, patience and politeness of Esther at the call centre.
I've even had a courtesy call after 8 weeks to check that all's well with the service (thanks Ash !)
All in all, I'm glad that I changed my provider !!
I changed to Tomato Enegy in January 2025 and far no complaints. I originally rang them & spoke to a very helpful lady who explained about their Lifestyle tarrif, which i felt would suit me. The changeover was on the day agreed and everything seems to be running smoothly.
I had a curtesy call today from Ash, checking that I was happy with everything. Pleased to confirm I am a happy customer.
Tomato Energy installed our solar panels, together with the battery in January 2024. Initially we had a few queries about how their system would work and how and where the battery could be installed inside the house, Their customer service has been excellent throughout. They responded promptly and professionally to each of our queries. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending their services.
Tomato really need to get their act together. When I first spoke to them, I was promised the world, but the reality is somewhat different! It started with the transfer and has gone downhill ever since! I've made 6 calls to them so far, and lodged a complaint, to no avail. Can't fault the politeness of the long suffering staff, but nothing ever happens, despite endless assurances. No follow ups, no returned calls, no email replies, NOTHING. I've even cancelled my direct debit to see if that triggered a response - NOPE! I'm really not surprised that OFGEM are on their tail. The only positive - their unit price is good and I have a 12 month fix, provided they don't go belly up, of course! It's such a shame as my initial call was very promising. Come on Tomato, sort yourselves out.
