Unacceptable Billing Errors by Tomato Energy

I am deeply frustrated with Tomato Energy's billing accuracy. My July 2025 bill for the period of 1 June 2025 to 30 June 2025 was calculated using an estimated meter reading, despite my submission of actual meter readings on 29 June 2025 and 30 June 2025. This resulted in a discrepancy of 158 kWh. For context, my usage last month was less than 100 kWh, making the estimate over 1.5 times my typical consumption.This inaccurate estimate has led to a potentially inflated bill, which is completely unacceptable. I urge Tomato Energy to correct the bill using my submitted readings and overhaul their billing process to prevent such errors. This experience has completely eroded my trust in their service, and I highly NOT recommend Tomato Energy as a service provider. Once my contract term ends, I will switch to another provider and advise all my friends to avoid using Tomato Energy.

Avoid or cancel. Unable to perform switch.

I have today decided to cancel my switch to Tomato Energy a whole month after I was supposed to switch to them. My switch date was 14th March and I did not receive any emails from them regarding delays or a new start date. In fact I received no communication at all from them. I had to call them three times to get updates with a different excuse each time. On one occasion I spoke to Pargat who at the end of the call was desperate for a 5 star review (Possibly to bury the many 1 star reviews). After reading today's news about the £3million debt and banning of new customers by Ofgem I decided enough was enough and have cancelled everything with Tomato. I recommend avoiding this company and do not believe it will last beyond this year. I've also noticed their fuel mix has a worrying fossil fuel mix mostly made of Gas and Coal, and only 0.2% is renewable. This would be a hinderence to achieving net zero in the UK

Been with Tomato Energy since January 2025 and great service.

Been with Tomato energy since January 2025. Account was swapped in 3 days with no problem and the smart meter readings started appearing in the mywatts app after about a week. I've been billed monthly since with no problems whatsoever and had a couple of courtesy phone calls to check everything is working properly, which it is. Thanks tomato and ash for the most recent check up.

Tomato Energy r Us.

I live in a large all electric house. I converted to Off Peak meters with Eon Next (Economy 7) at 13p off-peak and 31p on- peak, so I was a bit cheaper than their normal rate of 28p at that time. I discovered Tomato on Facebook but I could not believe their cheap rates. I took the plunge (helped because EonNext had a rubbish call center). I was signed up and given the information(sauce). Tomato's prices were 5p per kw for 5 hours then 14p per kw for 2 periods of 2 hours and the rest of the day at 24p. This is great. I saved £100 in February and the same for March compared to last year. Tomato does have problems with over-expansion and seems like through the complaints, could not keep up. I just kept quiet and waited. Now I am really happy. Everything running well.

My Tomato experience

I was with Octopus tracker however prices starting to go up during winter time. I found about Tomato on social media and when I checked their prices I was surprised, standing charge way lower than any other and only 5p during night. Transfer from octopus was smooth and fast without any issues. Billing happened every month and paid only for what I’ve consumed. I had a call from customer service to check if I’m happy with their service after 2 months, that was pleasantly surprising as none of the company’s care what you think after you joined them. Recently they launched a new app that looks good and make it easier than the site. Overall I’m really happy with them.
