Not fit for purpose depending on your water type. Three years extended product and customer service warranty and completely ignored for 6 months when dealing diedtly with the CEO. £600 out of pocket with a product that worked for a total of 2 months of a 8 month period.

This is the third review I have written for Skuma. I had various difficulties with my machine. On my previous trust pilot review, I stated that the company and I were working together to find an outcome that worked for us both. This has now happened and we have agreed a solution we are both satisfied with, which is why I have given a 5 star rating.

It’s mostly great but ……

I do like my machine but there are some things I don’t like. It can be a lot of work at times. I dread doing the cleaning bit, the worst of it being getting the filter out of the machine. I’m 76 and I haven’t got the strength to do this. In order to get enough strength I have to put the machine on the floor and put 100% of my strength into it. It’s probably ok if you’re a young fit male. The water isn’t really hot enough for tea but saying that it does make a decent cup. I’m not sure the filter lasts a year, especially if you are a family. I changed mine after about eight months and I live on my own. The infusions can work out expensive but since using the machine I hardly ever have cramp issues. It’s nice to get rid of my kettle. Filling the machine is a bit of a nuisance every day and because I’m in a very hard water area I waste an awful lot of water down the sink (I don’t have a garden). I paid extra for a tube to take the extra water straight into the sink (very overpriced). The downside of this is that the water removed from the machine is so bad that it stains the sink! Thanks Thames Water. When I’ve had problems Skuma have done their best to help me, I just don’t want the problems. I’m wondering if a new machine will be coming onto the market with some of these things ironed out. So, although these are a lot of negatives I do like my machine and wouldn’t be without it. It just needs improvements.

Terrible customer service experience

Update: the CEO reached out to me with an apology and finally processed the refund. At least this was honored in the end. This company is the absolute worst. The team is chaotic at best, a scam at worst. I was one of the early backers for their product and made a pledge on Indiegogo in November 2021(!), I never received the product. After 2 years (!!!) of technical issues, launch delays and excuses, I decided I no longer wanted to wait around for their product. It was already available online by then for customers to buy, yet as a first-day backer, my case still was not sorted. So, in December 2023 their support offered a refund. Then the ghosting began. Didn't hear back. Checked in a couple months later, got nothing but apologies and promises to escalate the issue, only to be ghosted for months again. When i inquired again, same routine: apologies, escalating to other teams, nothing ever happened. At some point their CEO responded that I couldn't get a refund - although their team had clearly offered one and asked for my bank details? Again, someone from support responded with the same template about escalating the issue and it's been many months of silence again. This whole interaction has been dragging on since 2021! I never received anything but false promises and excuses. No product, no refund. The company is an absolute disaster and I treat this money as a write-off now as it doesn't seem like they'll ever honor the refund they promised me.

Improved….thank you

Poor customer service, don’t respond to emails. Thankfully I haven’t purchased yet and based on the lack of response I will be looking to buy something else. Ok, so I wanted to update this and have to say that since Alex and Lily got involved my experience and my opinion has changed. The interaction has been good and my fears on their approach to customer service allayed. Thank you for changing my mind .

I wanted a reverse osmosis water filter…

I wanted a reverse osmosis water filter machine so it gets all the bad chemicals out of the water, as I was always buying bottled water. Skuma impressed me with its single filer system and the British back story. The water tastes great and you have options of adding minerals etc back in.

Buying SKUMA best decision made

Buying SKUMA is one of the best decisions I have made in life to maintain my health and well being. I particularly like the the refill pouches that come in different infusion bundles to cater for my needs.I will continue to try the different infusion pouches.I would particularly advise for other people to buy the SKUMA system if you care about drinking healthy, clear, refreshing water compared to unfiltered tap water.

Love the water, shame about the longevity of the machine

I was an early purchaser. Love the water, but the longevity doesn't seem to be there. The water tastes amazing and was easy initially, however the machine failed and was replaced and then the new machine started playing up as well. Removing and refitting the tanks seems to lead to leaks after a while and I've had to put a new magnet on the waste tank as it died a death. My infusion pump stopped working so I'm having to manually infuse (2.8ml/l) the water. I've dunked a USB pump into the waste tank to empty it, fill the water tank in situ and manually infuse but the water is great! When the infusions were working I was wishing there was the option to have 2 fitted as I switch between drinking water and water for the coffee machine regularly. I still love it, even with the workarounds!

Excellent company

Excellent all round device with extremely low maintenance costs and one of the cheapest on the market to buy. Taste is great and I’ve just got my second load of subscribed extra minerals. There are loads of infusions to choose from and I’ve tried them all. They make the water taste so crisp. Even my small children are drinking more water now. I no longer need to buy any water bottles! Excellent company

This water machine is amazing!

This water machine is amazing! I am very picky about what water i drink so when I tried this water I was really happy with the quality of it. The infusions are a great addition and it's good to know that I can have great quality water with whatever added vitamins and minerals I want. I highly recommend the Sküma. I wouldn't be without it now. Fantastic product.
