Hot water issues
I’ve very happy with my skuma the only thing I have a issue with is the hot water just not hot enough for tea and coffee with milk
Sküma Water is exceptionally well-rated by customers. Customers particularly appreciate service and quality, though some mention concerns about customer service and expensive.

Not fit for purpose depending on your water type. Three years extended product and customer service warranty and completely ignored for 6 months when dealing diedtly with the CEO. £600 out of pocket with a product that worked for a total of 2 months of a 8 month period.
This is the third review I have written for Skuma. I had various difficulties with my machine. On my previous trust pilot review, I stated that the company and I were working together to find an outcome that worked for us both. This has now happened and we have agreed a solution we are both satisfied with, which is why I have given a 5 star rating.
I do like my machine but there are some things I don’t like. It can be a lot of work at times. I dread doing the cleaning bit, the worst of it being getting the filter out of the machine. I’m 76 and I haven’t got the strength to do this. In order to get enough strength I have to put the machine on the floor and put 100% of my strength into it. It’s probably ok if you’re a young fit male. The water isn’t really hot enough for tea but saying that it does make a decent cup. I’m not sure the filter lasts a year, especially if you are a family. I changed mine after about eight months and I live on my own. The infusions can work out expensive but since using the machine I hardly ever have cramp issues. It’s nice to get rid of my kettle. Filling the machine is a bit of a nuisance every day and because I’m in a very hard water area I waste an awful lot of water down the sink (I don’t have a garden). I paid extra for a tube to take the extra water straight into the sink (very overpriced). The downside of this is that the water removed from the machine is so bad that it stains the sink! Thanks Thames Water. When I’ve had problems Skuma have done their best to help me, I just don’t want the problems. I’m wondering if a new machine will be coming onto the market with some of these things ironed out. So, although these are a lot of negatives I do like my machine and wouldn’t be without it. It just needs improvements.

Took me 20min to install myself. Didn’t need help. Was drinking clean cold water that same afternoon. Solid 5 stars from me.

If you care about your health, get one. So easy to use, and the hydration infusions are surprisingly good. No fake taste like others I’ve tried.

1. Machine is made of plastic so the claim that it is filtering microplastics is not true. 2. Machine is extremely tempermental and does not work half the time. Also requires a huge amount of maintenance. 3. My machine broke (leaked everywhere) shortly after receiving it and company continued to refer me to a whatsapp number that did not respond to get it fixed. 4. Despite requesting refund repeatedly for defective machine, no refund being provided. 5. The mineral infusions developed visible mold in the bottle. Extremely disgusting.

The bottom line is that my unit has completely died after just under 1 year of daily usage. I would send it back for a new unit, but to be honest, I've had so many issues since literally day 1, I have no confidence in the product as-is. There needs to be a new revision to address a number of issues. I know for a fact, this is not an isolated case, based on other first hand feedback and reading other reviews. When it works, I like it. The water tastes great. The unit looks good, and fits into a modern kitchen. I think there could be some improvements made to the general usability, such as a handle for the large tank, but that's it. The customer support was quite responsive, but what I care most about is the product itself. My ownership history: April '24, Day 1: internal leak, due to o-ring installation issue. I had to open the unit myself, disassemble some of the pipe work, correctly seat the o-ring, and reassemble. A few months later I started to have some issues with the electronics. The controls were unresponsive, and I had to leave it turned off over night. I contacted customer support, and they opted to send out a new unit. They did not want my old unit back. My old unit actually started working again, so I gifted the brand new unit to my friend. Not long after that, my friend reported he was having electronics issues on that new unit, where the controls/display were flashing randomly and water was dispensing on its own. I believe eventually it started behaving. For a number of months, I had no issues. I did have some niggles in regards to the firmware, specifically with how it would not reset the counter for how much water you dispensed between cycles. Sometimes it would dispense way too much, and sometimes way too little. I narrowed it down to either when the waste or tap water tanks were empty/full, or if you interrupted dispensing by pressing the button again. Next issue, was an internal leak when I was moving the unit around my kitchen. Long story short, the internal tank which stores filtered water does not contain an o-ring for it's lid, despite it having provisions to accommodate one. This is a BIG issue for me. The chance that water can mix with mains power internally, simply due to a lack of an o-ring is frankly reckless. One of the magnets which is used to trip the Hall-effect sensor (I assume) to tell the unit the waste water tank is present, rusted away and fell off the bottom of the tank. I had to super glue it back on. Final issue, in late March/early April 2025, the unit starting having erratic electronics issues, the lights blinking randomly, and it also dispensing scalding hot water on it's own. It finally gave up the ghost when I could smell burning, and the unit does not power up now. These are more BIG safety concerns for me. In summary: Skuma have potential to make a great product, but they really need to make improvements to the design to drastically improve its robustness and safety.

A bit plasticyy but my kitchen space is limited, and did not want to install and under the sink unit. It’s actually sleek, and still feels well-built.

I am a great fan of this product and company, I have had the Skuma for a long while, it’s excellent the water is much better than a jug type filter. I drink more water than I have ever done. I make a bottle full at a time and keep it in the fridge. l sometimes fizz it with a soda stream. I’ve have had questions over the period and have contacted them they always, respond promptly. This May it went rogue on me, so I contacted and explained what was wrong with it, they promptly sent things to try to correct the blip. Unfortunately None of the instructions worked so they said it have to go for back for repair. A date was set for a pick up that was just a couple of days it was picked up on the day by a courier. I was expecting a long wait to get it back, but it wasn’t very long at all before I got an email to say it was on its way back to me. I have done previous reviews always complimenting their customer service as second to none but this time they even surprised me how quickly they dealt with me. I can honestly say with hand on heart this was the best customer service I have ever had and I am eighty. I am back to drinking pure clean water again. Thank you Skuma team.
