Not fit for purpose depending on your water type. Three years extended product and customer service warranty and completely ignored for 6 months when dealing diedtly with the CEO. £600 out of pocket with a product that worked for a total of 2 months of a 8 month period.

This is the third review I have written for Skuma. I had various difficulties with my machine. On my previous trust pilot review, I stated that the company and I were working together to find an outcome that worked for us both. This has now happened and we have agreed a solution we are both satisfied with, which is why I have given a 5 star rating.

It’s mostly great but ……

I do like my machine but there are some things I don’t like. It can be a lot of work at times. I dread doing the cleaning bit, the worst of it being getting the filter out of the machine. I’m 76 and I haven’t got the strength to do this. In order to get enough strength I have to put the machine on the floor and put 100% of my strength into it. It’s probably ok if you’re a young fit male. The water isn’t really hot enough for tea but saying that it does make a decent cup. I’m not sure the filter lasts a year, especially if you are a family. I changed mine after about eight months and I live on my own. The infusions can work out expensive but since using the machine I hardly ever have cramp issues. It’s nice to get rid of my kettle. Filling the machine is a bit of a nuisance every day and because I’m in a very hard water area I waste an awful lot of water down the sink (I don’t have a garden). I paid extra for a tube to take the extra water straight into the sink (very overpriced). The downside of this is that the water removed from the machine is so bad that it stains the sink! Thanks Thames Water. When I’ve had problems Skuma have done their best to help me, I just don’t want the problems. I’m wondering if a new machine will be coming onto the market with some of these things ironed out. So, although these are a lot of negatives I do like my machine and wouldn’t be without it. It just needs improvements.

Poor Delivery - but saved by customer service and product

Still awaiting arrival - quoted 1-2 days. Took money and still waiting at 14 days. Updated 29/100/2023 Alex from customer service picked up my problem with delivery and rectified things quickly and efficiently. In addition, he offered some recompense for the inconvenience incurred with additional products, that was a professional gesture and appreciated. The machine after 4 weeks use works well. Bought Alkali and Hydration infusions and they enhance the product. Overall very pleased with the product for the money spent. Score upgraded to reflect the experience.

Sküma Filter and Customer Service

We bought the Sküma water filter in March 2023 for our leased home. The no-installation, counter-top design made it a practical choice. A major advantage is that it adds minerals back after filtering, which many other reverse osmosis systems don’t do. In August, our machine developed a leak. Sküma’s customer service was prompt in addressing the issue, replacing it with an upgraded model that has a quieter pump. Overall, a solid product backed by responsive service.

Three faulty machines and terrible customer service.

I would avoid this machine and the hassle that comes along with it. 6 months in, and I have had three faulty machines and terrible customer service. - Various faults on all machines - Weeks to get any response, along with having to chase every message sent - delays on shipments each time, waiting weeks for minerals to be sent - Shipments sent without correct items/missing items - Filter needed replacing after just two months I’m Currently awaiting a response for my next faulty machine to be collected, and despite being promised a fourth unit being sent out, it’s been over a month since they have actually communicated when this is going to actually happen. Their only response being that they will collect the faulty machine, without even addressing a replacement. They asked when I would like it collecting and I stated next day. This was four days ago and just no response. I would seriously discourage anybody from purchasing this machine. When it works, it’s good, but I’ve had issues with all of the machines sent and had to have them all replaced. And honestly, the customer service has been beyond bad and the most frustrating I’ve ever experienced. I can only speak for my experience with Alex as this is who I’ve dealt with the whole time, but it’s been beyond bad. Sadly I can’t post a better review than this, and want to discourage others from the same experience I’ve had because it’s stressful. I’ve tried to persevere and stick with them, but the customer service has actually got worse, and the machines themselves nothing but unreliable. Avoid.
