🚨 DO NOT RENT FROM ROUTES IN ORLANDO – SCAM ALERT! 🚨 This was, without a doubt, the worst rental experience I have ever had. We rented a Jeep Cherokee from Routes in Orlando, FL, and what started as a $450 rental turned into a staggering $2,200 nightmare. 1. Deceptive Toll Pass Fees – Hidden Charges After the Fact At pick-up, the agent strongly recommended we purchase a $12.95/day toll pass, which we did. What they failed to disclose was an extra $15/day fee for the transponder that communicates with the toll system—charged to us after we returned the car. That’s an additional $105 in hidden fees for a device that costs them nothing. Blatant price gouging! 2. Shady Vehicle Damage Scam – $1,200 for a Tiny Rock Chip Upon arrival (after midnight), we were simply handed the keys—no walk-through, no inspection, no paperwork verifying the vehicle's condition. The same thing happened when we returned it. A week later, we received an email stating we were being charged $1,200 to replace the windshield due to a tiny rock chip on the passenger side (a chip that could easily be repaired for free or at most $50). I strongly suspect that Routes does not actually replace windshields but instead charges multiple renters $1,200 each for the same chip—a classic rental car scam. 3. Zero Customer Service & Lack of Accountability Routes operates like a ghost company—zero accountability, no walk-around inspections, no clear fee disclosures, and surprise charges long after you’ve left. They are banking on renters being unable to dispute charges once they’re back home. Final Verdict: RUN! 🚩🚩 Routes lures you in with low prices but will nickel-and-dime you with hidden fees and fraudulent damage claims. If you value your time, money, and sanity, DO NOT RENT FROM ROUTES. Renter beware: This is a full-blown scam operation.

Company with horrible policy’s, and vehicle Pick up locations, I booked a vehicle for a month out, and within the same day of the booking I needed to cancel, and the customer service specialist said “ As per our rental policy, prepaid reservations are non-cancellable and non-refundable. Hence, we are unable to honor your request” I have spoken with customer service regarding cancelation and they denied me twice, hence the review. I did book directly through Routes website.

En Puerto Rico esta compañía de rentar carros en tremenda Basura,por el motivo de que alrquile y recerve un carro y nunca me lo dieron y me cobraron el dinero y no me lo devolvieron.estuve esperando 8 horas en carolina con mi hijo autista con hambre y nunca me dieron carro,tuve que pagar taxi para poder llegar a mi casa y esa es la costumbre de ellos cobran y no te dan el carro que alquilaste es un engaño

It's a scam. They say that you can cancel the reservation 48hr in advance and they give you the run around for your own money. They don't even pick up the phone. Response to current reply: I have contacted you by phone, email several times. One of the responses was that the booking is not valid and the second person said that it cannot be cancelled even though it is 4 and a half months away. Make customer care, CARE not nightmare, please!

refund my money.. in your website shows $500 dollar deposit and when it comes to you site you required $1500. stop scamming people!

Worst rental place ever. When we got there, there was a line with an estimated seven hour wait time and then, as we waited in line one of the people who got a car couldn’t even get out of the parking lot because the brakes failed in the intersection. We finally left and went to another rental place that got us serviced in about 40 minutes. this was the most pathetic establishment I’ve been to inside the entire United States. After waiting two hours and finally leaving for another rental car place, they wouldn’t even refund my money that we had spent to pre-book. Our car never ended up getting a car at all from them as we would’ve been there till around 6 PM. I’ve generously given it one star simply because zero stars is not an option

Ok, I read the reviews and was skeptical. We make this Denver trip once a year and have some wiggle room and don’t mind waiting a little longer than the more popular companies on speedy service because the price difference was well worth our time. We expected to have to wait on the shuttle from the airport until the van was full but the driver realized my husband was sick and took us right away. There was a couple of people in front of us at the desk and we did wait 30 minutes, but we too had a problem with our reservation, entirely on my end, and were given the same undivided attention from the agent. She was phenomenal and when she walked us to the 2024 Jeep Wrangler rental I asked if I could hug her! Drop off just as easy and friendly. I felt like we had gotten something too good to be true and waited for a surprise charge on my credit card. A month later and no extra charges! See you next year Routes!

Worst car rental company I've ever used. Rude, hidden fees, gave away 3 of our groups cars. Out of the way from all other car rental companies in Chicago.

We picked up the car at the Calgary airport location. We drove the car very little before it began to give us trouble. Had the gas peddle right to the floor and barely made it through an intersection so had to stop driving it. After numerous calls to Routes with no response or call back we finally had to rent a tow truck to get the car back in order to make our return flight. Routes wouldn't reimburse us 300. for the tow truck after explaining it was probably the transmission. They claim a mouse ate a wire. We read bad reviews about this company and should have listened.

What a scam. Routes canceled my reservation because my flight was delayed an hour and a half. What kind of airport car rental company cancels on its customers when it’s come to delays?
