Review summary

R & L Carriers receives a significant amount of negative feedback, with many customers expressing frustration over delivery issues and poor communication. Reviewers frequently mention delays, with one customer waiting over three weeks for a package and others reporting constant rescheduling without updates. Complaints about rude staff and lack of accountability for damaged goods are also prevalent, contributing to a sense of dissatisfaction. However, some customers do highlight positive experiences with specific drivers, praising their professionalism and helpfulness during deliveries. For instance, drivers like Mario and Dan receive commendations for going above and beyond in challenging situations. Despite these isolated positive remarks, the overwhelming sentiment reflects a troubled service experience.

No Delivery - No Phone Call

Adjusted my day to be here for delivery and waited.... and waited.... and waited. The website still said it was coming today. Finally called local office at 4:55pm and was told it wasn't even in my state! If I had gotten a phone call to that effect in the AM at least my day could have been salvaged. It is now 2 days out... we'll see.

The worst customer experience thanks to Annette Diaz!!

The worst customer experience!!! We sent them all the necessary documents 3 days before the arrival of our air freight delivery to JFK. They waited until the very last minute and find some made-up excuses with the invoice to delay our pickup. Still they force us to pay the storage for the weekend although the package was not picked up on time because of their fault. I don't know if that's something R&L Global's workstyle or it's because our account manager Annette Diaz is not a good professional.

I was told 2/29 my pallet would arrive…

I was told 2/29 my pallet would arrive by 1PM with a 30 min call lead time. I call this AM 3/1 to reconfirm delivery and was told between 2 and 3 PM. I called at 3:05 PM to inquire and that I had not gotten a 30 min call, and when will the truck arrive. Put on hold and then was told driver is behind new time now 5 to 6PM. I asked where was the driver. Told he was an hour north of me. That's outrageous! He came from Seattle and passed me by on his way to destinations an hour plus to the north. He should have stopped here on his way. There should be an option fo NO stars. This is at least the third time now my vendor has used RL and the exact same thing. They pass my drop destination and deliver on the way back to the terminal. If there is any option in the future to not use this horrible company I will try not to. 3:52PM I just now got a call from the driver and was told "the dock workers loaded it first". Blah, blah, blah. That's no excuse. I could have met with clients and ran other errands needed instead of waiting all day for the delivery.

The rude manager ended a years long business

We worked with R+L for years. The sales representatives were very lovely. They tried everything to help us but their management is horrible. There is not much the sales could do. We just had an issue which is not deal breaker. We had a conference with the area manager and he made things ten times worse. He had to be rude and disrespectful, assumed that every client should have known what they do internally and ignored the part there was no communication before the shipment was taken. Issues always happen. What matters is how a business resolves them and how they treat their clients.

Worst deliver service and customer…

Worst delivery service and customer service experienced in the last 10 years. 1) Damaged a 8ft tall custom pantry on delivery--had to wait 8 weeks for replacement. 2) Called 9 times requesting a timeframe for delivery so I could inspect a toilet bought at #Build.com. Gaslighted 3 days in a row while toilet stayed in their warehouse. Told delivery would be between 10am-3pm. Then toilet was dumped 5ft from our mailbox after 8:30pm and left the street overnite with no notification. 3) Agents are rude, disinterested, and do the absolute minimum amount of work. They gaslight customers and transfered me 3X on one call saying they had no information. Spent over 2 hours on hold trying to get a delivery timeframe. Working with R+L Carriers is simply not worth it.

Consistency Unreliable and Disrespectful

It's difficult to overstate how dysfunctional R&L Carriers is at operating its freight shipping service. In my experience, the company has never completed a delivery by the scheduled date. You should expect to miss multiple days of work, ensuring someone is home to sign for a delivery during each missed appointment -- they will reschedule a minimum of 2 - 3 times before finally completing a delivery. I've also learned there is no way of mitigating the company's unreliability; I've attempted to call and confirm the correct details for an expected shipment every day until the anticipated delivery day. Yet, they promptly loaded it on the wrong truck despite my preemptive calls and rescheduled again. Each time you call for support, a rude and inefficient switchboard operator greets you with a passive-aggressive tone that implies you should've studied all company departments before calling to be correctly routed. Next, you're transferred to a tracking support rep, in my case a disrespectful employee named Joy who plainly stated that customer retention was not her concern. Finally, you'll end up on the phone with dispatch, where they generally have no idea what's going on because none of these departments communicate with one another (especially when coordinating delivery requirements). From beginning to end, interacting with the employees and the overall ineffectiveness of the company is a costly and painful experience. I no longer purchase products from vendors who use R&L Carriers.

Refused deivery to my house

We live on a cul de sac and this company refused delivery to my home of a heay piece of furniture. We instead had to find a different address to ship it to and they would not allow me to meet them at the end of the road and off load it. We instead had to have it delivered to a friend's house 1.5 miles away and off load it on a trailor. I then had to bring it to my house and my wife and I had to get it off the trailor. I'm 72 years old and the piece weighed 309 lbs. We have had 4 deliveries by semis in the short 3 months we have lived here and they were all able to pull into the next street up and back 1000 ft to our home. This company refused to do that. The day they delivered they sent me a text saying it was out for delivery and then later sent me a text saying it had been delivered to my address. I drove everywhere looking for the piece only to find out that it had not been deivered yet. I will never use this company again and will make sure anything shipped to us will be set by a differet carrier.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience. upon arrival, we looked the crate over as best we could and accepted it. (shame on me) Once we opened it up, we discovered severe damage to the product. Turned in a claim via the company that shipped it, we both got the "they signed for it, no evidence has been present to us that we had anything to do with it", even though we sent photographs of the bottom on the package showing the hole where they apparently stuck a fork lift through it. Not a big surprise 86% of the reviews are one star. Lesson learned for me. They can sit until I have time to open it next time they show up here.

This is the abstolute worst freight…

This is the absolute worst freight company on the planet. I wish I could give them zero stars. I've taken 3 vacation days to be home for the delivery appointment. No call. No nothing. Their customer service is rude and doesn't give one crap about whether or not anything gets delivered. They finally told me they delivered my shipment to someone else but I shouldn't be mad because they found it. Are you kidding!!! I asked how this happened and they said it was mislableled. I pointed out that the confirmation I got from the vendor was exactly right. They just kept saying it's everybody else's fault. It's not. It's their fault. I asked why no one bothered to call and let me know they lost my freight and all they could say is "we found it". They said since they located it they will go pick it up. They said this like they're doing me a favor!! They said they will let me know when they can come back. I guess I'm staying home for a FOURTH time. Do not ship with them for any reason. They are rude and unreliable and I can assure you they don't care if you get your freight.

A Devastating Experience with R&L Carriers for My Small Business

I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with my experience with R&L Carriers. As a small business owner who has invested my savings into my company, I was excited to ship my first out-of-state product to a customer. I chose R&L Carriers, believing them to be a reputable and well-known freight company. The pickup process went smoothly. I helped the driver load my package and I even tipped the driver $20 for their service. My product was carefully packed and palletized, featuring neon stickers that indicated it was a high-claim item and should not be punctured. Unfortunately, my excitement quickly turned to despair when I received a call from my client, who informed me that the package and product had arrived severely damaged. To make matters worse, the driver suggested that my client accept the delivery and request a discount from me due to the damage. I was appalled by this unprofessional approach to handling such a situation. Upon seeing photos of the damaged product, I was devastated. The package had been strapped to the back wall of the truck, and the driver refused to unstrap it so my client could see the other side, which was likely even more damaged. I have filed a claim, but the process may take up to 120 days. As a small business owner with limited inventory and resources, this experience has been a major setback. Not only do I now have less inventory, but I also have to ship a new product to my client and cover the additional shipping costs. To add insult to injury, R&L Carriers added a $339.87 "limited access charge" to my final bill, despite having already paid for liftgate and residential pickup fees. This careless shipping experience with R&L Carriers has significantly impacted my business and my finances. It is disheartening that a company that claims to specialize in shipping could be so negligent with their customers' valuable products. I sincerely hope that my claim will be resolved and that R&L Carriers will be held accountable for their actions. If I could give them a zero-star rating, I would. Shame on you, R&L Carriers, for causing such distress and financial strain on a small business owner who trusted you with their livelihood.

The driver was rude and she wasn't even…

The driver was rude and she wasn't even equipped to unload the crate. The put the item on with a forklift and all she had was a hand truck that wouldn't lift the whole crate. Very poor planning on their part. They even made me sign a waiver that if the driver recked anything "I" would be responsible!

Memorable for all the wrong reasons

I use several carriers to ship goods to my customers, R&L being one of them. They are the worst. I try to avoid them at all costs and I cringe if my customer requests this company specifically. I’ve had every problem listed in the other negative reviews but what stands out most is their rude and unknowledgeable customer service.

DO NOT USE THIS CARRIER!!

DO NOT USE THIS CARRIER!!! they are not worthy of the one star I have to give to write a review. I thought the Postal service was slow. It took them 4 days to get a shipment 3.5 miles. They could have delivered it faster if they strapped it to a turtle. If you something in the same month you ordered it. Avoid R&L like the plague. They are the worst shipping company ever

Poor shipment tracking; delivered obviously damaged goods

Shipment damaged in transit and not tracked properly causing additional delay. Final carrier (BSP Trans) acknowledged received obviously/heavily damaged product from R&L, accepted and delivered anyway. Poor customer concern/service held up project needlessly for several weeks. Avoid.
