Review summary
P&O Cruises is exceptionally well-rated by customers. Customers particularly appreciate service and quality, though some mention concerns about customer service and expensive.
It was just a lovely cruise. There was everything we wanted and being very much older, plenty of time to relax if needed. The staff are amazing, respectful and welcoming. The Baltic cities are wonderful sights and the talks by Dave Wright were inspirational and riveting. We went to every one. Loved every minute
What a beautiful ship, staff, food, drink, rooms the whole experience was memorable, my first cruise and a fantastic experience with great and beautiful locations visited in Norway.
Have recently returned from PO Britannia 10 anniversary cruise of the British Isles which we had been really looking forward to as it was visiting places we haven't been to before, although disappointed they cancelled our trip to Edinburgh. The cruise got off to a bad start for us it took nearly two hours from dropping our luggage off to actually get on to the ship (usually takes 20-30 mins) so was not happy it was exhausting and would have put of off if it was our first cruise. Luckily it all improved from then on and we had a fantastic and relaxing cruise. Food excellent and staff very friendly in particular Akrita and Stanley from the Meridan restaurant and Jenson our cabin steward. Britannia certainly pulled the stops out with the entertainment this cruise it was spectacular on deck and in theatre, you had to queue early to get a seat in theatre even though they did 3 shows a night it was full half an hour before show started. We did three shore excursions with PO and all where very good with knowledgeable guides on the coaches and the shuttle bus in other places was well organised. Sort the boarding out and back too 5 stars next time.
Just returned from Nowegian Fjords on Board Britannia. Went for the scenery and wow what a holiday.. The food, service, and whole package was exemplary. special mention for Vinay in the crystal room who had a drink on our table before we got there! The ballroom dancing was brilliant, if you ever need any more hosts we are available. We will be booking another for next year thats a fact.
Cruised the Norwegian trip on Britanica with friends, what a lovely experience, entertainment, food, and the way we were welcomed by staff, and the cabin was excellent.
The embankment and disembarkment was very well organised and completely stress free.
Just returned from a cruise on Britannia. Exceptional service to cater for my Gluten free diet a always. Cabin steward (Manuel) kept our cabin immaculate. Service was excellent
At first we were not keen on the Arcadia, being so much smaller than the Iona which we took our first two cruises on. However, gradually we began to like the fact the we got to know so many more people as it was smaller, and we met some great 'cruise buddies' !!
Had a week on Britannia. Loved every moment. Food, entertainment and staff were excellent. P&O make taking a cruise an easy. From the first point of dropping the suitcase off to leaving the ship. Thank you
We just came back from a lovely cruise to Norway. We were picked up 20 minutes from home by a luxury coach, everything was smooth and well organized. Great value for money - lovely food and drinks, everything was very clean on the ship (Britannia) and the crew were fantastic.
Our first experience of a cruise for a long time P and O attention to detail, staff, and overall experience was excellent!
I wouldstrongly recommend them.
Just got back from a cruise to the…Norwegian Fjords
Just got back from a cruise to the Norwegian Fjords on board Britannia - absolutely no problem with the ship, this is our second cruise on her. We found everything easy to locate, everywhere was spotless, food was delicious whether eating in the buffet or, as we did a couple of times, The Glass House. We did find the destinations underwhelming though - Stavenger ok, easy walk in. Olden - quite a trek to find 4 or 5 outlet shops - nothing else. Alesund - again walkable but more shops! Haugesund - ridiculous trek into 'town' only to find more shops - all shops encountered had 'sales' on! The scenery of the Fjords themselves were breathtaking and probably the best part - Olden play music when the ship departs - that was great fun ! Although we went at the end of June there was only one day that we ventured out without a coat !!
Went on the golden circle trip. In Iceland, with the arcardia,
I can only walk slow to medium, the tour guide set off like a bat out of hell. No way could I keep up, I had to go back only to find the coach had moved to another area. The park ranger very kindly took me to where the coach was. Not impressed at all
Arvia Food quality and choices and drinks disappointing
Celebration evenings - We attended both and got the same boring, bland and devoid of flavour menu served, but we dressed up for it!
Beach House - (paid for)Very disappointing food was inedible lava salt rock prime fillet steak was not fillet steak it was braising steak..too chewy and tough and we needed a chainsaw to cut through it we gave up.
Big let down and we paid for the privilege of this rubbish.
6th Diner - Staff have attitude and try to rush you and then service is slow. Food very bland and greasy
just pretend American Diner it talks the talk but lacks real conviction..
Marked difference between included and premium restaurants in terms of food quality and service, and
It comes to something when you have paid over £3k for an all inclusive cruise, only to eagerly await your next port of call in order to enjoy a freshly cooked authentic meal! Real Fruit Real Veg
90% of deserts tasted either the same or just synthetic eg fake cream, photogenic but tasteless. Other foods were greasy or dried out and looked one thing but tasted of something else.
The amount of additives you must be using in your food is astounding, I do have an allergy issue but it would have been impossible to decipher which products to avoid, along a buffet, impossible to see what items were additive free and what wasn't! I got through the cruise on my anti histamine tablets.
There is the Sindhu Indian restaurant on board already and I like a curry every now and then, but talk about overkill.
Not only was a curry scheduled to appear every single night at the Horizon Buffet, but it became very clear and apparent that any left overs from anywhere were being used to create additional curries every single night of our summer cruise!
Very blatantly obvious...is that really the best you can do with our 3K per head?
Or are the grumpy asian staff stowing the good stuff away?
Maybe Carnival needs to set up 'mystery cruisers' to give you a better idea of what is actually going on in those pantries/kitchens?
Fruit and fresh veg was a scarcity, just individual bowls of pears, apples, plums or oranges. either rock hard or sour but all consistently tasteless..as were the razor thin slices of fruit salad in mini bowls near the synthetic and tasteless deserts.
thicker tasteless Melon slices only appeared for breakfast? Is this the only fruit that the Arvia can manage to bring along??Ffrozen cucumbers and frozen fruit throughout.
All inconsistent, some days you saw it others you didn't.
Unfortunately not everyone that goes on a cruise wants to get pie eyed and legless...I notice the water dispensers have been strategically placed in areas not so easy to find, tucked away behind corners or corridors.
Bars everywhere and am sure this is where you make most of your profits...but not all your cocktails taste right and whether any alcohol ever touches the glass is debatable. Our first Pina coladas in the sunset bar gave us all brain freeze..just frozen rubbish no coconut flavour and brown gone off pieces of pineapple wedged onto all our glasses....so we stopped ordering those...
One night we called room service twice for a bucket of ice and it never came...
Deck 9 at least our stretch of corridor was being cleaned by the steward. (no complaints on him)
However there seems to be a smell ingrained into the carpet along that stretch of corridor and I'm sure people can have toileting accidents but maybe cleaners and housekeeping can consider using a spray or something to freshen deck suite corridors when they start smelling....musty and of stale urine.
Our cabin was a nice size, but soon after going in, we realised the cleaning was below standard, surfaces were not wiped and still dusty and also the carpet was giving out a musty stale smell. When we did "Go out exploring" it was evident that no vacuum cleaner had been used.. I did take photos. Please use this review constructively and make some changes to the food and drink quality as the Avia is a wonderful ship and should not be neglected so early on..Captain Brown was great to, and not all of the staff were grumpy. Would I sail on her again? Maybe not for a wee while...my guts are still trying to come back to life
