Goldcar at Malaga airport avoid at all costs

Unfortunately this is the second time we have booked a car through Orbit and definitely the last. Last year we went to Rhodes and took insurance via Orbit and then was told on arrival that we won't be fully covered and it is always better to buy the insurance directly from the car renting company so we paid twice for insurane. This time we went to Malaga and booked the car with the company called GOLDCAR (AVOID AT ALL COSTS). We didn't take insurance through Orbit as I thought it will be best to get it directly from Goldcar at the airport as I was told last time. They advertise their cars very cheap (ours was £90) only to rip you off with the insurance which was 190 Euros and some airport tax that was over 40. On top of that they took a deposit of 160 for petrol. The guy was very persistent that if we don't take the insurance there is 1400 deposit and 3000 Euros excess and there are a lot of accidents because of the traffic blah blah blah so we took the extortion insurance in the end as I feared that when we return the car they will definitely find something wrong to charge me. I booked the car from terminal just so we could pick it up quickly and it actually took us around an hour, first had to queue and then nobody actually showed us to the car so we had to search for it. The guy only said it is on the 1st floor and around 100 metres to the right. The same on return, beware they don't even look at the car in front of you. They just take the keys from you and say you will get an email later on. Even though I took the extortion insurance I still recorded a video with the receipt from petrol station and recorded all inside and outside to have a proof the all is fine just in case

The car had the service light on when I started the car and the tyre pressure light came on 10 mins into my journey!

Didn't get money back since mid-january!

I cannot recommend Orbit Car Hire. I had a car accident in Australia in mid-January 2025, despite having full insurance coverage. As of today, May 15, 2025, I am still waiting for the reimbursement of my deductible in the amount of €3,500 (zero excess through reimbursement). Several reminders have been unsuccessful... I will take legal action against this company. Never again... Update 10th June: still no Refund! Update 17th June: still no refund! Still no responsibility taken to solve the case quickly… Update 26th June: still no refund! I got a partial refund from Europcar, but still 1.300€ to go! Booked premium plus coverage but Orbit Car Hire doesn‘t react. By 1st July, I have to escalate the case to the european Consumer Centre (responsible for Iceland too) Check24 says itself that it does take way too long and that they forced Orbit Car Hire to react ultimately Update 1st July: no reaction from Orbit Car Hire, I escalated the case to the European Consumer Centre for further investigation Update 07th July: no reaction, no refund

Smooth transfers, no problem

Smooth transfers, paperwork didn't take long. I had to get full insurance as my credit card didn't work due to change of phone. I felt better with the insurance upgrade. Clean and reliable automatic car. There were times when I got into the car I thought someone had stolen the steering wheel, 😂🤣. Smooth handover and transfer to the airport. I got the car I wanted. Very happy with Orbit.
