Missing Survey
My therapist Giselle said she was going to email a survey to me for my wife to fill out and I did not receive it.
LifeStance Health has mixed reviews from customers. Customers particularly appreciate professional and service, though some mention concerns about customer service and communication.

My therapist, Nicole Caplin is very perceptive and insightful! She helps me more than perhaps she'll ever know. In our sessions, she helps me see things in perspective and take the big picture into account. She genuinely encourages me in my areas of improvement and highlights my positive qualities and efforts. She has never said anything that would even be remotely considered as "platitude." She really helps me see things in a different, but absolutely true way, which helps me process my issues. She has gotten to really know me and remembers things about me very well. I am extremely grateful to have her as my therapist. Sincerely, Arvind Raja
Lifestance is great ! I cannot say enough good things about them.
Dr. Keraga is not only knowledgeable, but compassionate and very invested in my treatment. Making appointments and getting referrals are easy and worry free. I would recommend her to anyone needing a psychiatrist who is willing to work with them and find a treatment tailored to specific and unique situations.
The concern and the respect my therapist gave me from the start
I made an appointment with one of the psychiatrists at LifeStance for my son who has ASD and ADHD, but they ended up canceling it because my son has Medi-Cal as secondary for his disability. LifeStance does not take patients with Medi-Cal even if they have private insurance as primary. According to the rep on the phone, they would need to go through Medi-Cal after processing the claim with our primary insurance, which is not legally required by the way, and that my son would LOSE his Medi-Cal benefits if he saw LifeStance providers because using their service means that we can afford co-pays/self-pays, which would lead the state to open an investigation against our income level....??? My son isn't receiving Medi-Cal because of our income level, he is receiving the benefits because of his disability. Clearly they have no idea what they are talking about and this policy is just so absurd. And they give people false information like that? Crazy. At the end of the phone call, the rep advised me that I should let service providers know about my son's insurance situation every time I seek medical service because "many" providers do not accept it - again, false. I've never experienced any doctor's office declining our appointments whether they are contracted with the state of not. They just use our primary private insurance! Their providers may be great, but LifeStance itself seems pretty incompetent. They provide mental health care where patients are in for the long haul. I can see how frustrating it could be to navigate in their system and customer service.
If you're considering lifestance health for counseling I would recommend that you immediately read some reviews. I had an appointment for a Tuesday. I was sick over the weekend and tried to cancel the appointment. No one answers the phone on the weekend and there is no voice mail or answering service. I sent emails cancelling the appointment on a Sunday. There is no way to give 48 hours notice without it being on the weekend. I'm not sure how someone is supposed to know that they'd better cancel their appointment on Friday in case they might get sick over the weekend. I've written to lifestance twice about this already. Weirdly when I try to see our past communication it's no longer available in their portal. No service was provided and they made it impossible to contact them over the weekend, including having no voicemail or answering service. They have now ignored my communication twice and continue to send me a $75 bill. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED!
Great service friendly compassionate and kind.I am happy to be a part of life stance health with a great mental health therapy. So I can have a strong mind.
Our family has been with LifeStance for 3 years now- myself, my son and my husband. We have all had exceptional care through them at the various locations our providers are at (Rocky River, Brecksville, Beachwood, and Twinsburg). Dr. Fredrickson and Toby Bourisseau have both been exceptional Psychiatrists for myself and my son. They both take the time to ask how we are doing/feeling and truly listens. They are both companionate and kind. And I have never gotten the feeling that they just want to rush to prescribe medications and nothing else. Michelle Anderson has been a wonderful therapist for my son. They have built a strong relationship over the past few years and she has really helped him through some difficult times. I recently changed therapists because my first through LifeStance moved. I am currently seeing Dr. Kristin Hilfer and I have been very happy with her so far. While it is difficult to change therapists, she has helped make that transition as smooth as possible. It is a good feeling to be building the connection with her more and more with each session. My husband and I see Dr. Steve Bell for couples therapy and he has been very helpful for us. He is a good mediator, is kind and gentle and listens to both sides and guides us to understand one another better. We are very grateful for him. Overall we have been very happy with LifeStance all around and would recommend them to anyone. And do!
I just recently went back to Lifestance just last week. I was a patient back in 2023 for around six months, seeing a psychiatrist and psychologist. In 2023 I was trying different meds, as well as getting therapy. I tried several meds and got scared towards the end. I kept telling myself I didn’t need meds and to just get off, since it felt like they were making me worse. I ended up going off my meds for around two years and stopped therapy. I had my first appointment back with a different psychiatrist (by choice) last week. My new psychiatrist seems to be very understanding and gave me time to express any concerns I had. When asking questions she allowed me to explain some things in greater depth, rather than just answering yes or no. She seem extremely supportive and knowledgeable. She is gradually starting me on one med at a time since I’ve been sensitive to meds in the past. She has reassured me to reach out with any problems I may have before my next appointment. I have reached out once already and she responded promptly. I feel confident I have the right psychiatrist this time and I would like to start therapy again soon too. The only thing I don’t like about Lifestance is it’s very hard to get through to your local office where your psychiatrist is. I have been giving a phone number by two different people with Lifestance and when I call it just takes me to the main line. There are certain instances I would prefer to speak to the specific office my psychiatrist is at. Also, the day before my first appointment I had called billing to set up any payments to be automatically taken off my debit card. That way it is one less stress for me and one less thing to think about. Around 20 minutes before the next day before my first appointment, I got a text from Lifestance to verify my billing info and everything. For some reason it kept freezing and wouldn’t let me get through the process. So I had to call Lifestance and get them to do it over the phone. Then I got my link for the virtual appointment. The problem with this is I was already a nervous wreck and this added to it. I don’t like cutting things that close. What if when I called, I was on hold longer and ended up missing my appointment while waiting to speak with someone? Then I would have been out of luck and missed my appointment, setting my mental health further back. Granted, I got lucky and only had to hold around five minutes. I think to avoid the added stress and risk of someone missing an appointment, they should send that text verifying your payment info at least an hour before the appointment, if not the day before. I was confused about it anyways because I called to set up my card info the day before to avoid any of this and agreed to have the payments taken directly off my card. So I’m not sure what I needed to do it again the day of the appointment by text, which didn’t work. I don’t remember them doing this before back in 2023. I’m hoping that I’m not going to have to do this for every appointment because that is nerving. Other than that I really like Lifestance and the fact they got me in with someone so soon. It is very convenient being able to do virtual appoints, as well as in office. This makes it easier for patients that maybe don’t want to come out or if they have hectic schedules.
Every session I have, has been very helpful to me. Whitney builds on our relationship and my issues with every visit. She listens and makes me feel comfortable enough to talk about anything I want or have on my mind. I wouldn’t consider using anyone else!
