Step 1 of making a claim less than satisfactory

Took out the policy based on good reviews but its not possible to know until trying to make a claim. There is never any delay for insurance companies to take payment of policy but when it comes to reverse it is another story. On Saturday I was due to travel home by train and in the time between when I checked out of hotel and the time of the train I suddenly became sick with gastroenteritis symptoms. I had nowhere to go and had to run back to hotel which was a self check in with no reception and get urgent support from a chef working in the hotel restaurant which operates separately but part of the same group. I needed a room urgently and I could not possibly travel on the train I was due to take 2 hours later. Approx 3 hours later 5pm on a Saturday ( not 3 am!) having taken some medication I called Hey Mondo to advise of the issue as it was live. As it was Saturday I could only reach the medical section I explained everything and they opened a case, and follewed up on email with a reference number. Very reliable first step, this office was in Czech Republic and is outsourced by Hey mondo I believe.They told me I would need to make another PHONE call on Monday to the Italian office of Hey Mondo. First thing on Monday morning I called the Italian number and spoke with Veronica, I had to explain the whole situation again , that I had to pay for emergency night in the hotel and new train ticket extra 300 euros. as I could not travel home. I left the next morning at 7 am as soon as I was able to physically travel. Despite being a Travel Insurance company she told me noone spoke English!! I tried as best as possible and after 13 mins she told me what I understood was I would receive an email WITHIN THE SAME DAY with all the documents. Nothing arrived, I had to call again this morning, I reached Veronica who told me NO! I did not understand well, it would be within 10 DAYS that I would receive an email with documents to start the claim. I was shocked, no other insurance company would not provide a written ackowlegdement and paperwork outside 48 hours worst case of calling. Most countries can manage even without a phone call! I asked to have an EMAIL record of the fact that I have spoken to you and this is the process, she raised her voice as is normal in Italy and said NO ITS NOT POSSIBLE. It is so stressful , despite the stress and money incurred I now must wait for 10 days to receive something from the company to START to TRY to make the claim. Notihng in writing at all from Hey Mondo that I have contacted this office on Monday 28 July via phone Update since reading the reply below. I do not want to share my policy number in a public domain nor my claim number. I will contact you on the numbers / email below immediately today providing all the relevant information and previous correspondence. I would like to understand why the lady on the Italian phone number provided in my policy + 390200620261 - did not provide the email address you give me when I asked her? She told me simply I must wait up to 10 days and there was nothing else she could do!!

Mancato rimborso

Durante il nostro viaggio in Giappone, abbiamo avuto bisogno di utilizzare l’assicurazione per nostra figlia di 4 anni. Siamo stati assistiti prontamente, ma ad oggi dopo 3 mesi dalla fine del viaggio non abbiamo ancora ricevuto alcun riscontro nè rimborso nonostante questo rientrasse nella polizza prevista.

I found the Heymondo site fast. Everything was intuitively clear. I liked the prices and the paying process. But I haven’t had a chance to how it works if I’m injured.

Assolutamente da evitare

Assolutamente da evitare, comprata assicurazione per proteggere il mio viaggio in Francia a seguito di uno sciopero dei controllori di volo mi hanno annullato il volo due ore prima della partenza preso un secondo volo da un aeroporto diverso da quello di partenza il giorno successivo ho chiesto il rimborso di due notti d’hotel e il costo delle spese prese per recuperare il secondo volo. Non mi hanno rimborsato neanche un caffè nulla mentre la compagnia aerea, oltre ad aver rimborsato il giorno perso in hotel, mi ha anche rimborsato le spese di trasferimento e il pranzo senza aver mai acquistato la polizza da easyJet.

No adelantan dinero. Asistencia horrible

Tuve que ir al hospital y me hicieron pagar la cuenta, no adelantaron ellos el dinero y gestionaron fatal la asistencia teniendo a una persona que acababa de estar hospitalizada 1 hora intentando ponerse de acuerdo con el hospital y no dejándonos ir sin pagar. Menos mal que podíamos afrontar la cuenta. Un desastre. Fuimos a ese hospital porque fue el que el seguro nos indicó y al parecer no tenía convenio con ellos. Ahora nos toca reclamar para que nos devuelvan el dinero y solamente nos están poniendo problemas. Siempre contrataba mi seguro por HeyMondo para mis viajes hasta ahora que he tenido que usarlo que no volveré a confiar en ellos.

Soddisfatta e rimborsata!

Arrivata negli emirati arabi dopo pochi giorni ho avuto un problema di salute. Ho subito chiamato assistenza e mi hanno dato due possibilità: o rivolgermi ad un centro medico a mia scelta, con rimborso una volta inviata documentazione, o aspettare circa un paio d'ore per permettere loro di trovarmi un ospedale, con pagamento diretto. Ho optato per la prima scelta, e inviata la documentazione, ho avuto il rimborso dei soldi spesi entro 15 giorni. Quindi più che soddisfatta della velocità. P.s. solo un dubbio, ma se una persona sta veramente male e opta per la ricerca dell'ospedale, come fa ad aspettare due ore o anche più? In breve se c'è urgenza, come si comporta heymondo?

Fine print scam

We took out this insurance when traveling to the USA to have peace of mind that no matter what goes wrong, it will be covered. The policy had a robust coverage, but sadly they make sure you cannot make use of it in 99% of cases. I feel misled and scammed as in the end it was just a waste of money. Disappointing experience, will not consider Heymondo again in the future.

Lamentable seguro de viaje

No son nada fiables. Nos cancelaron un vuelo y debido a ello perdimos la excursión dentro del viaje programada para ese día, y no hemos obtenido ningún tipo de compensación, ni por el vuelo cancelado, ni por la excursión perdida. Son además intermediarios, con lo cual todo el proceso de reclamación es lento y tedioso, ya echo expresamente para que te canses de reclamar. Mentirosos. Si tenéis mutua contratar el seguro con ellos y pasad de empresas como está que a la hora de la verdad no te cubren nada. Eso sí, bien que cobraron los 100 euros que nos costó el seguro para absolutamente nada.

Servizio di assistenza presente

L'assistenza di Heymondo è abbastanza presente e celere nelle comunicazioni, sia telefoniche che Whatsapp. Ho apprezzato la buona volontà degli operatori, in particolare Costantina e Ivano, a seguire da vicino al mio caso. Pur non avendo ottenuto una completa risoluzione al mio problema (purtroppo le cancellazioni dei mezzi di trasporto operate da qualsivoglia vettore, come si evince anche da altre recensioni, non sono coperte dalla polizza), hanno cercato di venirmi incontro. Ho comunque attiva con loro un'altra polizza per un prossimo viaggio, di cui mi auguro di non dover usufruire ;-)
