    In a word Callum

    In a word Callum . Couldn’t get in to have a problem fixed at my usual cycle shop until June the 4th but a cycle buddy of mine told me he rated Halfords at Dereham . I phoned on Thursday 15/05/25 and explained I had a long ride planned with my mates for the coming Sunday . They booked me in for Friday the following day . I arrived promptly and went to the cycle desk and within 3 minutes and I’m not exaggerating , the lad had fixed the problem . There is something reassuring about watching someone work who obviously knows his trade inside and out . He asked a couple of questions , gave a nod , took out an Allen key , chucked my bike up onto a stand and job done . Spun the pedals and went up and down through the gears problem solved . Total pro as well as polite , professional and friendly . I buy a lot of my inner tubes on line but bought one from him and was surprised that the price difference was marginal , in fact just pennies . What’s more he didn’t charge me for the repair . He’s a keen cyclist himself and we had a chat afterwards . Anyway I hope his company appreciate him because he’s bagged them a new future customer .

    Useless wannabe supposed mechanics, I wouldn't let em even empty my bins

    I cannot leave a good review I'm afraid On 9/5/25 I booked in at halfords for a battery replacement on my rangerover, the mechanic from halfords firstly carried a test on my battery and said that it was fine and I don't need a new one as it's showing 12v, I asked him to carry out a load test and he didn't have a clue what I was on about, I then asked him to keep his test meter attached to the battery whilst I try to start the car, the engine struggled but did start, the mechanics test machine was now showing a starter motor fault, this was because the battery struggled to start the car because it needed replacing ( DOH ).The halfords mechanic then said I needed a new starter motor ( no I don't) Fast forward to 10/5/25 and this time I went back to halfords and asked for a new battery to be fitted, I took 3 of their staff to decide between them how to remove the battery ( they didn't even know that the car bonnet had to be put into service mode to allow battery removal). A new battery was eventually fitted and then the big letdown surprise that made my blood boil, none of them knew that once the new battery had been fitted that the vehicles b.m.s system needs to be reset, honestly when I asked them if they were going to do this reset they were speechless and hadn't the foggiest what I was on about, I explained what I meant and one of em fetched a code reader and plugged it into my o.b.d port, wonderful, ( NOT ) their machine would not communicate with my car at all So in a nutshell 2 days of complete letdown because halfords staff don't know what they're doing, I was charged an extra £30 for the fitting service which I believe is a complete and utter robbery considering they have almost no knowledge of what was required to fit a battery to my car, I now have to go to a garage and pay an extra £60 to get my cars b.m.s system reset, OH THIS GETS EVEN WORSE TRUST ME !! , whilst I was in halfords i was at the tills paying for my battery fitment and one of their staff was asking another customer if they would like to join the halfords motoring club for discount on the work that halfords had just carried out on their car for them Why did they not ask me ?? It stated on my receipt that if I was an halfords motoring club member I would have saved over £37 today on having a new battery fitted ( at least that would have paid for the cost of the fitting charge carried out by less than professional people ) I am going to speak to the citizens advice bureau tomorrow and make enquiries as to whether I can take my car back to halfords and have the battery removed and get a full refund This service was shocking, I am bitterly disappointed as well as very angry with the lack of service I received.

    Brilliant service

    I needed a cycle chain for an upcoming event as an order on Ebay had not arrived. The online price was very good with free delivery going to be about three days, this was OK by me. To my utmost surprise and delight, the chain arrived the very next day, I really wasn't expecting this. My utmost thanks to this company, what superb customer service, many thanks. Credit also to the courier DHL, who kept me informed all the way.

    First Class Service

    Visited Kirkcaldy store today and received first class customer service from a young guy named Edward. The department was busy and buzzing with customers. He was extremely polite, professional and really went above and beyond to find a bike in stock so we could purchase and take away immediately.

    Avoid at all costs

    4 times I have given Halfords my business and 4 times they failed. 1st time was coil packs for my car didn’t fit even though they claimed too many they would, 2nd bought a battery for over £200 and they claimed a £90 one is what I bought, 3rd bought 2 tyres and had mobile fitting service, turned up claimed the job to fit was too hard and left me with tyres only, no refunds. Lastly booked in for diagnosis test as car was in a bad way, but because there were a few faults they claimed too many for them to look at and I needed to go to a specialist. Even though the faults led to 3 problems only. Avoid using the shop or the garage, they take your money and can’t or refuse to do the job and make excuses. Pointless so called mechanics and experts.

    SHAMEFUL COMPANY 😡

    Purchased a Car battery 16 months ago with a 5 year warranty. Battery keeps going totally flat even off the vehicle. Took back to my local store who had no intention of honouring the warranty. She put it on the cheap battery tester and said its not covered under warranty and it was my fault for not caring correctly for it 🫣 as a fully qualified mechanic I asked her how should I care for a battery to have the warranty. She hadn't a clue, just said the car must be driven at least 45 minutes a day 🙄 clueless. She then said its Halfords policy not to replace if the tester says not to. I knew it had a faulty cell so took it to 2 local battery specialist who fully tested and provided me with a print out confirming it was at end of life due to faulty cell. I then rang Halfords customer services and put a complaint In. I was informed it would be dealt with and I would get a phone call or email with 48 hours. I rang twice since and still no response 7 days later. SHAMEFUL COMPANY. DO NOT BUY ANY BATTERIES FROM HERE IF YOU WANT A WARRANTY. GO TO A PROPER BATTERY SPECIALIST. I SHALL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN !!!

    Absolutely appalling!!

    Absolutely appalling!!! Ordered an electric bike online. Collection day came and was advised it wasn’t delivered to my local store. 2 weeks passed and still heard nothing! Contacted them and was advised computer error and it was ready to collect. Went to store and bike wasn’t ready and no longer available in local area ! Avoid at all costs

    Awful place, BAD customer service (2)

    I previously left a review about a bad experience on 21 July 2024 and received a reply advising me to call (by the website) and open a case (Ref: 23766882). I followed their instructions and have since made over 20 calls trying to get an update—without any meaningful response. The lack of communication and accountability is beyond frustrating. It feels like no one takes responsibility, and my concerns are being completely ignored. This kind of service is unacceptable, and I strongly advise others to be cautious when dealing with this company. I have created a YouTube review as well to alert buyers.     DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

    DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - Purchased tyres from their website in good faith, arranged the fitting day with the nearest garage. Arrived on the day, did not have the tyres, the tyres that i ordered and paid for over a week before hand. They said they will call me on the following Tuesday to come back and they will have the tyres. Do you think they called me? of coarse not. I waited until late afternoon, when i called them. Only then then they said' we was going to cal you' a complate lie. I have processed an official complaint three weeks ago, i ve heard absolutley nothing ftom them. on the phone no chasing. Dont say you wasn't warned people, spend you money with other tyre companies!! not Halfords.

    Halfords Northgate Newark, cycle department

    Not Tita Parker; actually her daughter, Alexandra... I visited Halfords Northgate Newark, because my bike (an adult trike) bumper had lost its fastenings, and I didn't have the right tools to fix it. Two guys - Ben and Josh - bent over backwards to help me. Ben brought the bike indoors; it's heavy and cumbersome but he had no trouble, and they fixed not only the bumper, but the rear reflector, which had fallen off. They then advised me, and showed me, quite genuinely, that the tyres would need changing 'at some point, not necessarily now'. However, grasping the nettle, I agreed to change them there and then. They could not have been more helpful. Courteous, good-humoured, efficient, thorough, and precise. I had superb service from them, which I couldn't fault. As someone who has been in retail customer service all her working life, their manners and professionalism were exemplary. It turned out to be a rather more expensive visit than I had expected (my choice!) but all told, it was money well spent, and a pleasurable experience. Thanks to both Ben and Josh for personifying what customer service really is!

    Don't pay for the bike to be built.

    Ordered a bike to be built and delivered. Brakes were not correctly fitted/tensioned there for completely failed to stop the bike.

    I want to say a huge thank you to Gavin…

    I want to say a huge thank you to Gavin in the Swindon branch. My husband had bought the wrong wipers and I was finding it hard to work out which was the right one. Gavin took the time to understand the situation, fine a solution and even fitted it for me after finding the other wiper replaced by my husband was completely connected. He was friendly, understanding, helpful and respectful. He went above and beyond to help.

    Life time guarantee tools issue

    I have bought a multiple tool sets that are life time guarantee out of Halfords and some tools broke like sockets. Went into the shop to replace the tools and I’m being told that I need a receipt what I already can’t understand for tools that have life time why do you need one. But fair enough I found the receipt in the emails and I show it to them and then I’m being told to leave the tools there and they will order them in even tho the pieces that I need are there in separate packaging so they don’t have to open a new set. Just disappointing how there policy works.

    15/5/25 Dear Halfords With reference to the above subject. Could you please supply me with a hard copy complaints form? You have £790.50 of my money which you have held since February. You will be receiving in the near future recorded documentation outlining mediation proceedings. Alternatively you could deliver to my home address the new Brompton A line I paid for in full on February 18th of this year. However I would require evidence from Brompton that you are supplying a new model. Regards David Harvey

    Delivery, Cancellation and Poor Customer Service

    Ordered online with a 3-5 Day delivery date. After 3 days the order had still not even left the warehouse so I phoned to cancel. The person who I spoke to barely spoke English (sounded like an Indian callcentre), which made it difficult to deal with Halfords. This immediately put me off. I managed to eventually understand that Halfords "can't cancel a warehouse order and I have to reject the delivery when it arrives". This is ridiculous as it hadn't even been processed or left the warehouse. Another time, I'll order from somewhere else who can actually process orders in good time and effectively manage their supply chain and the delivery process. I am genuinely impressed by the service in Halfords stores, the staff are usually knowledgeable and helpful. This company is let down by a "Cheap Overseas" customer service centre and poor management of their warehousing processes.

    Avoid like the plague

    I took my car to halford to fix issues caused in another garage. They’ve made things worse! Brake pads on the wrong way round and after 3 visits still couldn’t find the issue with them. They’ve broken the sensor cable to the brakes causing my warning light to be on. Disks now need replacing. Couldn’t find an oil leak from sump pan and so had to get another garage to find and do this work. Customer service is awful, 10 weeks and no resolve. No one ever phones you back. Have refunded the money for the brakes but insisting they replace them even tho they haven’t managed to fix it 3 times that it’s been in or find the problem despite them having my vehicle for days! Do not use!!!
