    Disappointing and Dismissive Customer Service from Audi UK

    While my visit to Chingford Audi was handled professionally at the dealership level, I am extremely dissatisfied with the way Audi UK customer service handled my complaint afterward. After being quoted £1,400 to repair a radar system fault — which occurred without accident, damage, or misuse — I raised a legitimate concern with Audi UK. Despite being a long-term Audi customer, I was met with a dismissive response, no proper investigation, no escalation, and ultimately had my case closed after one email. Audi’s complaints process promises fairness, updates, and a willingness to review further information — none of which were followed. I felt completely unheard and disrespected. This experience has seriously damaged my confidence in Audi as a brand and I will be escalating the matter to the Motor Ombudsman.

    I was lied to about the vehicle…

    I was lied to about the vehicle history. The vehicle was not in as good condition as described with aome rust, damage to the fabric roof and corroded wheels. Still not recieved warranty info or where to take it to have infotainment system checked.

    I am glad, I now own a BMW!

    I have driven many kinds of vehicles, over 5 decades. And recently I decided to concentrate on 4 wheels instead of 2 - for fun as well as function. Looked at VW, Audi, Mercedes and Lotus even (!). And I have driven a BMW X5 on business trips in Europe. But a colleague let me take a look at their 3 series....wow! So I went to Group 1 with my requirements. Their sales listened, and paid attention and I bought an approved/used 320i M Sport Touring (with the adaptive suspension, electronic diff etc etc). Wow - doesn't even cover it. It combined my love of driving with a daily commute. After a short while - it needed to go in for a pitstop. Group 1 Cambridge Sales and Service could not be more helpful - Exemplary Customer Service that matches the driving experience of the car. I am glad, I now own a BMW!

    Extremely helpful

    The salesperson, Martin, was really good. No pressure just lots of information which was very useful. He was very reassuring on the test drive as I had not driven an automatic before. The after sales was also excellent.

    Super easy to deal with Group 1 JLR in…

    Super easy to deal with Group 1 JLR in Guildford, drive up, drive in, drop the keys, have a coffee and let them take on all the activities. I was very happy with the service, the waiting area was comfortable and the team we really helpful.

    Brilliant experience

    I went to the Medway store after my previous car (not a Toyota) had an issue with its exhaust, and would have cost too much to fix. Yohannes greeted me and was friendly and informative. He asked me my needs, preferences and budget and showed me several options and explained why they would work for me. Once I had chosen my new car, Yohannes was really helpful in explaining next steps, helping with the paperwork, setting what I needed to do, and honest in agreeing the price for my part exchange. Due to my previous car nearing its MOT, and not being road worthy due to the exhaust issue, he pulled out all the stops to get my new car turned around within 24 hours and I was able to pick it up the next afternoon. After I picked up the car, I got a courtesy call the next day to make sure everything was OK and that I was happy. I was really impressed with the turn around time for getting my new car, and how friendly the whole sales team where, but specifically Yohannes who made sure everything went smoothly. I have already recommended the store/garage to other people.

    Complex booking for my Mustang

    Complex booking for my Mustang - annual service, MOT - due to new front discs and pads required that were not in stock, nor correctly delivered the next day. Excellent rating was due to Savannah keeping me informed and extending the courtesy car flawlessly. Couple of negatives - rang twice for updates, only 1 person on duty I was told by telephonist, left message to be called back with an update (did I need to return the courtesy car or not?) but never called back. Other negative was the cost of 2 discs and pads. At >£1000, I thought this excessively expensive for a Ford, even a relatively low volume car like a Mustang. Really dented my view of the relatively low cost of ownership I had previously enjoyed with the car. Oh and they forget to wash it, so I had to wait for Savannah to arrange for it to be washed when I was trying to leave. Still, despite these concerns, was satisfied overall with the experience but will have to look outside the franchise when the rear discs and pads are due.

    The VW Tiguan had caught my eye

    The VW Tiguan had caught my eye so I came in to Chelmsford to have a look at the model. I met with Gareth Yapsley on a warm Saturday afternoon and we discussed the car and had a look at what was available in stock. At short notice he arranged for a test drive. I subsequently purchased a Tiguan, sourced from Peterborough. Gareth handled the process for me. The handover at Chelmsford was excellent with time taken to show me around the new car and demonstrate its features. It felt very personal and overall was a great experience.

    My new BMW 220 mild hybrid Gran Coupe…

    I've purchased a number of new BMW cars from Barons/Group 1 Automotive UK every 2 - 3 years. I took my previous 2 year old BMW 218i Gran Coupe in for service, and whilst waiting, noticed a fully equipped new 220 mild hybrid Gran Coupe in the showroom. I contemplated this as my next new BMW, but dismissed the idea since this was a much more expensive vehicle, and I did not believe it financially viable. I spoke to sales person Nick Irish for a chat and his positive approach showed me that it was indeed possible. With further help from the sales manager and finance team, I was able to drive away with that new BMW 220 Gran Coupe two days later. What excellent service!

    Extremely disgruntled

    The service I have received has been very poor. My car was on a service plan, that included a "Complimentary" wash and vac "on every service". Over the last 5 years, this has been done just once and only after we kicked up a fuss in 2023 to say it had never been done. Don't advertise this and use it as a selling point when you clearly don't bother to carry it out! For this service, despite it being covered under the service plan, the invoice included the cost of the service and my husband had to point out that we didn't need to pay this. We were also informed that the car would fail its MOT if the cable for the bonnet catch was not replaced, at what we feel is an extortionate cost. However, on getting home and researching the issue, the government state that a car will fail if the catch does not hold the bonnet down correctly. However, I could find no mention of a fail (only a tester being within their rights to refuse to carry out the MOT), for the cable not being taught enough to pull the catch open when the lever is pulled up (normal means of opening the bonnet) Over the years I am extremely disappointed with the level of service I have received from Group 1 Ford Guildford.
