Over the past few weeks Green Chef has been sending me review requests almost every day. While I don’t mind giving feedback about this company (I have been buying their meal kits for a couple years), there’s a limit to how much useful information I can offer; these requests have gotten ridiculous. But the company is responsive and has sorted this out. I appreciate the quality of these meal kits. The food is generally delicious and rarely do I have any issues with freshness or quality. When there was an issue, the company refunded the cost. I also appreciate the sourcing of ingredients that leans toward organic and sustainable. Compared to other meal kits that prioritize organic and high quality ingredients, this one is a good value. Offering even more organic choices would be an improvement. Sometimes “conventional” ingredients slip in, and sometimes the organic option (especially meats) are offered with an additional charge. The company is usually clear about this when it happens, but it is frustrating to be paying a premium for organic choices and then be required to spend even more to actually get the organic ingredients. Finally, I appreciate that the company attempts to minimize plastic waste and claims to offset plastic packaging via recycling. This is great, but there’s always ways to do even more to minimize waste.

The vegetables kale and cauliflower and green onion, for the first time, were discolored and past fresh. The sweet potato taco filling was burned, yet not quite cooked through in the proscribed time for the oven. My oven is new and does not miscook recipes. I love what you do…..perhaps these problems relate to delivery which is sometimes a day late. I have recommended to 8 friends.

I love green chef! I have celiac and the gluten free meals are delicious, and there are a ton of options. I enjoy keeping the recipes to try to make them again, and it helped me learn how to cook for two!

The food is always fresh and delivered timely with great and easy to do recipes

Delivery is random. Sometimes it’s very secure and packed well. Other times it just thrown in the box without insulation. Vegetables get smashed and broken. Several times I get the wrong recipe cards for the meals I ordered.

Meals are excellent. Most of our meals are vegetarian and are super tasty. I would like to see less cauliflower recipes though. Getting a bit tired of it.

Eh, I find many of the recipes lackluster. I've gotten a bit bored of them. Almost all include dates and/or roasted red peppers and a few other things. It's the same few ingredients in rotation. I've also had issues with the quality of ingredients at times. My last meal kit, I had to throw out 5 of my shrimp because they were covered in black slime. Other meal kits give you the opportunity to rate the meals when you get them and report bad ingredients. I find it odd this one doesn't.

I really enjoy most of the meals sent to me, but I did request Vegan meals and periodically you send me non-Vegan items such as dairy products typically cheeses. However, overall the meals are very fresh and delicious.

The food quality is great! It's just getting a little too warm and the box is coming with melted ice and the bags are wet and broken. The packaging and delivery are not holding up. Mary

Overall, the ingredients and documentation has lead to great meals. The packaging and delivery have also been great aside from finding a way to be more ecologically friendly with the packaging. This is our second round and two things could be improves upon. Twice we were promised two cheese cakes and neither time was it actually delivered which was disappointing. Secondly, the recipes seen to be repeating more often. I'm not sure if that's based on the supply of the groceries associated but I would lie to see more variation.

We LOVE the meals. We recently have been eating less meat, and there are so many great vegetarian options. I love the premade sauces or spice mixes that come with each meal, it takes home cooking up to restaurant level meal.

I have been searching for the perfect combo of convenience, delicious cravable food, and healthy additions to my meals for what feels like FOREVER. Green Chef turned out to be this perfect thing that I’d be hoping to find! Making these meals is genuinely a highlight of my day, and I’ve loved every thing I have tried. I’m on a plan for 2 people, but I am only cooking for myself. This means that I get to enjoy my leftovers for a second meal, which has been easy and convenient. Best of all, Green Chef has contributed to my food waste going down to almost zero. Having exactly the ingredients I need without having to plan and grocery shop has made such a difference. I’d say even if you’ve tried other meal kit deliveries in the past, Green Chef is worth a try for the variety of awesome recipes they have. The recipe cards are super helpful and easy to follow. There are some nice add-ons you can get in your box too. I’ve been ordering instant oatmeal and iced coffee, so now I’m covered for all my meals for the week. If you’re busy and work a lot like I do - you’ll appreciate what a difference that makes.

Produce is not always fresh. Wish they provided recipes for the sauces.
