Don't Book

I have taken many big trips with Gate 1, I e. Japan, Africa, etc., however, I planned to do the trip for Thailand, Cambodia & Vietnam in January 2026, but now there's fighting at the border between Thailand and Cambodia, also there is a level 4- DO NOT TRAVEL by the Embassy. Gate1 refuses to give me my $600 deposit back because they said they have not cancelled this trip yet and is monitoring the situation. My thrill is no longer interested in being over there. Gate 1 will not even give a credit, with all my years of traveling with them. How unfortunate.

Misunderstanding regarding visa inclusion

I booked the 16 days Egypt with Jordan tour. On the highlights page it said that Jordan visa is included. I booked my own flights so I called the agent to confirm visa situation. He told me that it is not, since I booked my own flight and airport transfer. He spoke to his manager and assured me this will be remedied by Gate1. After some back and forth emails and review left on this forum, a representative reached to me within hours, and let me know that I will be reimbursed for this due to the misunderstanding. Also, Gate1 will edit the highlights page to avoid future confusions. I changed my review accordingly to reflect this. I’ve had positive experiences with Gate 1 for 10 years. The quality of the packages offered and customer support deserve recognition

Ik wil me geld terug oplichters!!! Gister 800 betaald en slap excuus dat condor de reservering niet konden doorzetten !! Ikke bellen met condor...blijkt lulkoek te wezen!!! Ik ga aangifte doen en eis 10.000 euro schadevergoeding want deze reis was voor een condoleance!!! En nu kunnen we er niet heen omdat ons spaargeld erin zit!!!

Gate1 has changed for the worse

This was my fourth trip with Gate1, and I was very disappointed with how they handled my reservation this trip. My family’s reservation was linked to mine, as I always do when traveling. They made no effort to book our rooms next to or even close to one another this trip. This was very upsetting. We were often in rooms on different floors, towers, or buildings. Something has changed with Gate1, and I'm very disappointed they had so little regard for our accommodations. I don't think I can trust them again with my family’s vacations.

I've been on multiple Gate 1 tours and…

I've been on multiple Gate 1 tours and just got home from Mexico city and Oaxaca tour and it was great! They arranged a covid test at hotel and things went really well. Small group of 19, everyone wore a mask and felt safe. Hotels and included meals were all wonderful and better than anticipated. I booked online so when I did need some info I used their call back feature and it worked well. Love Gate1

Croatia 13 day tour

We traveled to Croatia, Slovenia & Italy thru Gate1 in October 2021. The experience we had every step of the way was fabulous! When our connecting flight was canceled in Munich and we were re-routed thru a different city in Italy, Gate1 sent their driver to pick us up & drive us thru Italy, Slovenia and finally to our final destination in Croatia. They went out of their way the entire 13 day tour & we all had a wonderful time! We will be traveling with them again soon!

I booked a trip to South Africa prior…

I booked a trip to South Africa prior to the pandemic. This was done before a vaccine requirement. I have medical exemption and can not get vaccinated. I would like the money back I put into tour which is $2,000. A future travel credit does me no good if I'm not allowed on the tour. The representative who answered was rude and did not even see that I paid for trip insurance. I have taken three trips with Gate One however, this will be my last.

Ecuador & Peru Vacay.

We just returned from a 11 day vacay to Ecuador & Peru. It was a great vacation . Outstanding accommodations on the banks of Napa river & sacred valley. The travel guides ( Johanna in Ecuador & Juan in Peru) were knowledgeable & accommodating. They were keen on keeping everybody happy. They paid attention to the smallest details so the guest didn’t have to stress. To date we have done about 6 trips with Gate1 all good. I think Gate 1 has improved a lot BUT getting to speak to customer service is still painful, it takes hours to get one on the phone.

Can’t get a hold of customer service once you’ve booked and paid for your trip!! :(

I’ve spent several thousand dollars on an upcoming trip. Yet, every time I try to get a hold of a customer service agent to ask about my flight time, I get a message telling me no one can speak to me that day. To try again the next day!! And it goes on day after day. It’s ridiculous!!

Poor customer experience with Gate 1

Missed my connecting flight due to a weather delay. The 24hr customer response was aweful. The did not rebook my connecting flight and no one answered the phone after calling for 10 hrs. I paid for my flight to get to my Egypt trip a day late. The customer service is lousy. They apologised when I returned, but I've had no luck with trip insurance to recover my lost expenses incurred. They blame Gate 1 for lack of response. I was put on hold for 2hrs and call dropped. Will not recommend this company due to poor customer service.

Unfortunately a great company has changed. I have been on many of their tours and recommended gate 1 to many people, but I will not anymore, unfortunately their customer service is very bad, they hung up on me several times after an hour plus hold. Once you put your deposit down or pay your money they won't talk to you at all. very very frustrating. I needed to change plans since my partner was having an operation. I could still go and I needed the cost of me dropping him and me still going and I never could get an answer. I know they must be having trouble because of covid-19 but they should not be booking so many tours if they don't have anyone to help you. So I lost $400 deposit and was not able to get anyone to book my tour.

Gate 1 has gone from questionable in…

Gate 1 has gone from questionable in their practices to downright dishonorable. And they don't care. After a package was booked, they actually increased the price and were inflexible in discussing this and said there was no way to escalate it. Not to mention this treatment requires spending hours on hold.

Gate 1 Travel...great value/quality

We all know that travel in the past two years has been risky. And blaming a travel company for canceled flights, cars, etc. seems unfair. I have traveled with Gate 1 Travel around the world and have recommended them to many friends. We ALL agree that Gate 1 Travel is not only a great value but high quality organization. From the minute they meet us at the airport to the day we leave, we never touch a suitcase again. They are passionate about providing spectacular tour guides, quality hotels in good locations, comfortable transportation, good meals provided and good recommendations on days off. Their tour plans are interesting and informative. They are sensitive to all travelers...especially those with some physical limitations but still providing the best experience for all. If you are considering a trip anywhere in the world and you want the experience and dedication of a travel agency that wants to provide the best experience possible, then choose Gate 1 Travel. I don't write reviews very often but I am moved to support this great organization.

I have traveled with them on multiple occasions. Always excellent service and support. Looks like most of the negative reviews on this site are because people didn't read the T&C's and don't seem to understand that when you book a trip like this airfare and hotels are booked and sometimes can't be refunded by the airlines and hotels.
