    Europcar were really dissapointing

Europcar were really dissapointing. Numerous random charges added on and no customer service. 7 days and still waiting. Staff on the phone don't know what has happened either. First car needed oil and the second was dreadful on fuel, very noisy and generally a very bad car for 5 days of driving in and 1500 miles to cover. Disappointed and not what I reserved.

    Top noch scamers

If you want to get fu**ed over then you should definitely rent from them, this is the second time im renting with them and it was awful from the car to the service, and on top of that they didn't not release my security deposit has not been realised and it looks like it never will be, so yeah if you are looking for classic scamers and ready to lose all your money over a cheap pice of car then you should definitely get scammed by them

    Still waiting for my deposit.

We rented a car in the UK a week or so ago, they took a chunky deposit reserved on the car, which is normal. The car and service was great, we returned it on time, but 8 days later the amount is still blocked on our card. I have bills to pay, and can't as these shysters still have my money. Apparently they are very sorry, but that's not really cutting it, Seriously, avoid. EDIT, I've been speaking to customer service who just told me it was Europcar policy to hold onto the deposit for up to 10 working days. I've never had this from any of the other companies I have ever rented from, and I can't afford to leva 1000 euros with you for close to 2 weeks. For that reason, and that reason alone I won't use you again.

    Don’t do it! AVOID

I recently rented a car to travel in while in Spain. This was done through the UK portal. On returning the car, they subsequently raised bills for missing items that weren’t there on collection and damage that was already present. Even though evidence has been supplied in video and pictures, they still took money without my consent during the dispute. This has now left me no choice but to take the matter to a small claims court. As the agreement was made in the uk it falls within UK law, something the advisor seems to think is wrong. A terrible company. Please look at any other rental company than these, See you in court EUROPCAR.

    “I had a long-term car hire

“I had a long-term car hire, and the original vehicle was faulty. The process of getting a replacement went relatively smoothly. However, upon returning the car, I was wrongly accused of causing damage that was pre-existing. Once the situation was clarified, no apology was offered, and the local agent was rude throughout the interaction.”

Europcar is the worst car rental…

Europcar is the worst car rental company, I would recommend to stay far away and I should have come and looked at the reviews before I booked. I booked a vehicle and paid before hand only to be rejected during the pick up, I was then told I was going to be fully refunded only for a few day later finding out I wasn’t fully refund and was withheld £45 that I’m still waiting to get back and it’s already been 10 working days. I would stay far away from this company very unprofessional and can’t keep to their word.

Never rent a car from Europcar

When I checked my credit card for my last rental in Heathrow, I found two unreported charges by Europcar: 1. a 193.36 GBP charge on, which should not be 2. The charge for the insurance for 8 days was 575.34 GBP when the car was returned after 7 days, and we were promised that it would be adjusted. I send a reply to Europcar 4 weeks ago, they never answered . They do not care.

Booked a car from the stevenage depot…

Booked a car from the stevenage depot to be picked up on 26th August (bank holiday monday). Had email confirmation that the car would be ready. Turned up at the agreed time and the depot was closed. Spent a few hours on the phone to customer services. Got cut off 4 times. the out of hours number I was given went straight to voicemail and I was not called back when I left a message. Customer services kept telling me I needed to go Luton if I wanted a car but they wouldnt sort a car out for me. I had to drive there to arrange it if I wanted one which wasnt possible. I had to cancel my business trip because of this. A week later I was then charged a no show fee of £102!! I have now got all my money back including the no show fee but the company did not care at all. No apology, no offer of any compensation. Nothing. Really appalling customer service. I will never use them again.

    Absolute Scammers

Booked a Holiday Package with TUI, and the 'free car' package was with Europcar. As the car was not sutible for size of party had to pay over £200 extra to upgrade..not free then. Collected car at Faro and after signing contract went to visit car, it took several minutes to record damage. I returned the car with no extra damage and full tank of fuel. Several days later my card was charged with a vehicle recovery plus charge which apparently was above the normal service offered. This was not mentioned and I did not request. So scammed 68 Euros. Why not explain and I would not have accepted, just a way of getting extra money.

Simply the worst company I’ve ever…

Simply the worst company I’ve ever dealt with! Rented through Ryanair and they placed with EUROPCAR. At the rental desk in Majorca they were pleasant enough. However there was no opportunity to view the car prior to signing paper work. Paperwork stated no damage however there was multiple dings, dents and scratches. I took photos of these as proof of damage. Low and behold the classic invoice for €240 euros arrives for a small dent on bumper that was there prior. I’ve shared photos, proof of paperwork which contradicts those photos and disputed the damage which I still maintain was no my doing. After asking the process for mediation they ignored my email and invoiced my card anyway. At this point I can’t help feel it’s their business model to offer cheap rental and then claw back fake damage claims on the back end. Don’t rent a car through this company, or at least if you do expect to be billed for something at the end.

Booked and paid for a rental van…

Booked and paid for a rental van online, turned up to collect the van and was told I can’t have one. No reason given. Not only did I have to find a van at last minute I have to wait up to 28 days for a refund. No issues hiring from any other rental companies

    The vehicle rented through Keddy

The vehicle rented through Keddy, a Europcar subsidiary at Rome Fiumicino airport had multiple dents and scratches in addition to those that were listed on the receiving paperwork. When I asked the representative to come and look at the car he said pretty much that he was too busy and only came when I wrote on the paperwork "multiple dents and scratches etc" on the paperwork and asked him to sign it. More issues with the vehicle were then picked up and entered onto the paperwork before I accepted the car. The return process was easier but only after my partner's hire car (we rented two for the size of our party) claim for additional dents whilst under our hire were successfully rebuffed through the use of date stamped photographs from the day we picked the cars up from the airport. All in all I would not recommend hiring from Europcar / Keddy again and would look elsewhere unless you literally want to be taken for a ride, you have been warned.

    EXPRESS road assistance from EuropCar

Rented a car online. Picked it up at Edinburgh airport. The young man at the pick-up desk was polite. He offered full insurance, but I refused because I had insurance from the bank that issued my card. However, he insisted on buying Road Assistance Express. I agreed. It cost me 104,76 pounds( 9,17 per/day). Three hours later, on a very narrow road, we hit a rock with the left front wheel. The tire was punctured and flat. Of course, there was no spare wheel - a big hello to Mercedes-Benz with its B200! I called 0800 0280999, which was listed where I was looking for a spare wheel. It turned out this was impossible from my US phone! As it turned out later, the company's website listed a different number for non-UK phones - 0116 247 3228. However, this number was not listed in the agreement or anywhere in the car. This is simply outrageous! In the end, I got through. Explained the situation. It took almost a one hour(!) - endless waits on hold, interruptions, stupid offers to rate their work.... finally I was told that help was on its way. This was around 4:00 PM 17 September. NO ONE CAME OR EVEN CALLED before sunset at 7:20PM! I had to find a mobile tire repair shop and resolve the issues for 230 pounds. I am writing this the next day at noon. No one has called yet. This is a real EXPRESS service from EuropCar

    Very poor service

Very poor service, constantly trying to sell you more upgrades, not explaining the contract thoroughly. Even get charged for cleaning the car after. A super expensive hire. Do not use.

    Do not use eurocar

Booked car hire with added extra for a sunday collection at 11. Went to shop - it doesn’t open on a Sunday… Called customer service asked to change the collection to Belfast airport to be told would have to cancel the booking and rebook - losing over £300 to wait on a refund. Advised I can not do this to be told he doesn’t own Eurocar doesn’t care either way and hung up on. Called back got a girl this time at a party - could hardly hear her over the music to be told the same as it’s a new booking. Asked if we could just get it on Monday morning to be advised no as it’s a new booking would again need to loose and wait in the original booking money and rebook. Cancelled completely and went with Alamo - who were a dream against this riot. 16 days (working) later - still waiting on my refund ! Actual joke of a company should not be allowed to be in business total scammers

I have been told money it will not show on the statement

Thank you for contacting Europcar Customer Services regarding reservation 1179912958. When you arrived at the branch, 250.00 GBP was held on your account as a deposit for the rental. This was only recorded as pending on your account and not as a completed transaction. When the vehicle was returned, the full amount was reversed and was not converted into a transaction. The above amount would then be released back into your available balance. The number of days this would take is a banking process, not a Europcar one,and this takes around 3-10 working days to show on the account (up to 28 days for international transactions). If your statement lists pending amounts separately, then the deposit amount should disappear from this list. Some online statements can show authorisations as debits, so again this should drop off and your available balance would increase. In either instance, you would not see a refund or credit in your list of transactions, as the deposit was not debited by us. I would like to offer my sincere apologies if this was not clearly advised previously and I thank you for bringing this to our attention. If you require any further information regarding the deposit process, you can check our FAQ section on our website - >click here. I trust this information assists with your query. Regards, Maryam

Pretty poor experience and would not…

Pretty poor experience and would not use again. Booked through main reservations to pick up a car from Chelmsford. Then received call from Chelmsford to say they don't have that car or comparable so only option is to pay to upgrade, all their cars are at Stansted apparently. Cancel booking and rebook car to collect at Stansted. Arrive at Stansted the next day and they don't have the car we booked, again try to get us to upgrade then give us a 'comparable' vehicle. Were told if we were passing could see about swapping over to what we actually booked, asked for direct number so I could phone ahead to save a wasted journey - number I was given was the main switchboard and when you try the option for branches it is just a continuous message - frustrating! Then when I had to extend the drop off time by a few hours I was charged a full days hire. We ended up switching to Hertz, booked a car with them online and then turned up and received the car we had booked. edited following reply from europcar. I have already spent time on the phone to customer services and don't wish to waste more time. Also - check you bank statement carefully - we have been overcharged a days hire so are having to spend time trying to get that back!

I am disabled and this company provided…

I am disabled and this company provided a curtesy car when mine was damaged, my car was repaired and returned on the Friday, I contacted them to collect their car and was told by 1pm on the Friday , I then received a text at 1.50pm saying it would be between 2pm and 4pm on the Friday, at 4.40pm no one had shown up, I contacted them ands was told to ring the local branch after holding on for 20 mins no one answered so I called the main number back, they then put me on hold saying they were contacting the local branch, 25 minutes later I was just left on hold, so I phoned a 3rd time, and tried to explain again and the man just kept speaking over me so I asked if I could explain , and he said are you finished now, I cant do anything I'm a call centre in Morocco, so I asked for a UK number, which on calling they said they would escalate it and someone would call, that afternoon or first thing Saturday, at 9pm I received a text saying they were sorry they couldn't pick the car up and would call as soon as it opened, I cancelled a chest CT scan at 5.30pm on the Friday as they never turned up, also an optician on the Saturday as I had no idea when they would show, on Monday morning ad 7.25am I had a text saying they would pick the car up between 2pm and 4pm, then at 9.25am while I was at an appointment I got a call saying they would be there in 15 minutes, I explained I was at an appointment and they were very abrupt and I told them about the text earlier in the morning to which he had no knowledge of, and I am still waiting for it to be rearranged and picked up, they also supplied the car with between half a tank and three quarters of a tank which I took a pic of, and told me it was full, I have returned it with three quarters of a tank and cancelled my card as they said I would pay premium for a full tank when I said it wasn't full and I had proof, I have also C-PTSD and this was extremely distressful , over two and a half hours on the phone to rude staff , who treat disabled and people with mental health issues dismally , disgusting company.

    Overcharging scammers. Avoid!

Overcharged us with €210 at pickup for border crossing twice(!) and made us signed without showing these costs or sending an agreement. Saying these are refundable fees. They were not and couldn’t get a refund after very long discussion, saying we signed it. Absolute scam. I used to trust Europcar but since they together with Goldcar it is one of those cheap companies who lure you in and overcharge you for nothing. I will NEVER use them again and you should also avoid. Cheap? It will add up and nothing you can do about it. Avoid.

Let down the night before with totally different alternative.

Utterly useless. Booked a van to move our daughter to university. The van we booked was done so as we knew there was a 2.3m height restriction in the NCP. There was an issue with the booked van, so they decided to get us a high top 3m van with a long wheel base !!!! No good, left us high and dry the night before packing with zero chance of an alternative solution. It is like booking with a knock off company when you go on your holidays. Needless to say I will never use these cowboys ever again if I need to rent anything.
