    HORRIBLE experience - I hope never again

    @GLA airport is a team of masters of ripping off additional costs. They do not recognize the terms and conditions of brokers selling their rental services. We had a voucher from a junk broker (CARFLEXI - avoid them), we were refused a vehicle from a voucher (it's not about car brand but about category of the vehicle), we were told to pay extra for this vehicle and after the refusal, we were issued a vehicle of a lower category. In addition, we were tricked into selling some absurd additional insurance, even though we refused twice. When we picking up the car, the seller said it was a deposit, but after returning the vehicle it turned out to be insurance. If you respect yourself and your money, stay away from them!

    Would give 0 stars if possible

    Would give 0 stars if possible. Car supposed to be delivered today. It didn't arrive. Tried calling branch at 5pm to find out what was happening (Bedford branch - supposed to be open until 6). On hold 16 minutes before recorded message says no one available to pick up and to try again. Tried again repeatedly until they closed at 6pm. Same thing happened. So no car and no communication. Highly unprofessional.

    Paid twice for the same car and was promised a refund that couldn’t be done

    Easy to rent the car that was nice but accidentally we put the wrong driver on the booking and the helpful guy at the desk told us he canceled the booking and made a new in the right name and we then could get a refund on the previous booking which was for 3 days we just had to call and get the refund our self But unfortunately that was a lie cause we can’t get a refund after the planned pickup time has come So now we have paid the double amount It’s a poorly treat us filling us with a lie sending up paying twice 🙁

    Do Not Trust!!!

    Arrived at Manchester Airport branch with booking ref. to be told they have no car available. They said head office should have informed me which they didn't and I could speak to customer service regarding the wasted trip and money. Spoke to customer service who said that the branch have told them that the verification had failed and availability wasn't the issue. What a lie!! We didn't even get to licence etc because there was no car. They found one after about an hour but it was due a recall. They wasted my time and money!! Would not want to use this company ever again. Please be aware and don't trust them. You cannot rely on their customer service to use common sense and solve issues.

    Awful experience

    Dropped rental car back and was told to leave keys, there would be no issues as the staff member was cleaning another vehicle. As I was in a rush I stupidly agreed. Car was left in a busy car park and some time later an email came through claiming damage had been caused to the door. Despite stating that the vehicle was left in a busy car park with no continuity between handover over and inspection I was billed over £500. I protested stating that procedure wasn’t followed and this staff member had told me to leave the keys and head on, there was no continuity and zero evidence I caused this damage due to this. Unfortunately i got very blunt replies stating the claim would be upheld and sometimes staff couldn’t walk round at the time. I requested a phonecall in relation to the matter which never arrived. Extremely poor customer service and disgraceful that this claim is still being upheld. Will never use this company again and I would advise others not to.

    Last minute cancellation

    I booked a car for the 30/09/24 for a 2 week holiday only to find out when I went for collection that I failed a credit check and was told it had to be cancelled so I was it had been done and the refund was issued now it has been 4 days no email to comfirm it has been so I spoke with a live agent who says there is no record of it cancelled I am now left chasing them up to get my money absolutely ridiculous

    BUYERS BEWARE!!!

    BUYERS BEWARE!!! Paid over $200 in (optional) hidden extras that were not on the original quote. Queued over an hour to pick up the car and wasn't even given the car we ordered. [Response] I already contacted customer support. They politely told me to "Go Away" I signed to contract ... tough! It was borderline rude, they did not even use my name in the response, even after I asked them to!

    Assistenza vergognosa ! Pagato all’aeroporto di Edimburgo un sovrapprezzo di €397,00 per assistenza, oggi a Fort Wiliam bucata una ruota chiamati potrebbero venire tra una settimana!!!!!!!

    Verrebbero tra una settimana!!!!!! Faremo cambiare la gomma a nostre spese ed ad Edimburgo sicuramente succederanno storie perché dovranno rimborsarci!!! Arrabbiata!!!!

    Avoid

    Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. I hope that others read the reviews before booking with Europcar Gatwick. I have rented cars for over 45 years and have NEVER been scammed like this. On arrival the woman at the desk tried to make me upgrade the car - making it appear that that was the one l been allocated (she already had the key on the desk infront of her). I refused and said l wanted the car l had booked. Next, premium insurance was added to my contract without asking me. As a result, l paid 150% more on my originally booking price. I have annual excess insurance and never use the rental company insurance went l rent. They hid the fact that insurance was added by including it in the credit card excess authisation. Therefore, you are unaware that you have purchased insurance until your card is charged after the rental. Look at the reviews, many others have been scammed in this way. When I asked if the car had any damaged, l was told that it wasn't necessary to check it. On return, it was a different story, with the attendant checking the car minutely - going around it several times. In the end he found a very small scratch and l was required to sign off on the damage. I cannot say if the damage was already done when l rented the car. The scratch was so small l do not believe l would have noticed it ... and certainly not in poor light conditions. If you use this company you should make sure that you photograph the whole car, including wheels, before you drive off. Never again!

    Disappointing

    I was mis-sold cover when I collected the car. The Europcar agent told me I had to pay non-optional additional funds to upgrade my vehicle to a larger one since they didn’t have the car I’d pre-booked in their fleet. After chasing this up with several customer service agents, I was told that I’d in fact been charged for additional insurance cover, and they refused to refund me for the cover that I neither wanted, nor used. On top of that, the car I rented broke down. When I arranged for a mechanic to come check the car, they didn’t show up. I waited for over 5 hours for a mechanic to turn up, sitting outside of my hotel until 1am - only to have nobody show. Then they tried to charge me a call out fee. After spending months begging multiple customer service agents for assistance, and after repeatedly being palmed off, I’ve now given up on getting my money back. Beyond disappointed with the outcome, and a rubbish experience from start to finish.

    Avoid this company at any cost

    Avoid this company at any cost. Boycott. The Stansted personel try to fool and extort! Ryan air was delayed. Europacar knew but it was not possible to get in touch. Instead they waited with another car - take this or nothing- in the middle of the night! Lying about the costs!! Typical fraud and you sign because you are used to honest company. Not ok to charge for another car when you already paid for one! Dont ever trust them!! Fraud!!

    Terrible… Avoid, avoid, avoid

    My partner needed to hire a car whilst hers was at the garage. She needed to get me to surgery, whilst transporting our 1 year old. The car was delivered at 7pm on 31/09/24. It was not driven till 5am on 01/10/2024. By the time we got to the hospital, the dash was lit up with warning lights. Not what you’d expect for a 2024 plate with 4K on the clock. We called Europart, and we were told to contact the AA. We have spoken with Europcar on at least 12 occasions, where the lines are charged, and they have taken zero ownership. Honestly, this is a truly terrible company, and the reviews speak for themselves. If we hadn’t have made it through to the account manager for our cars manufacturer, I’m not sure we would have got anywhere. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid.

    unlawful practice to use peoples card numbers

    i am not aloud to put zero i was forced to choose one star or am unable to write a review . my target is at the head ceo of motability why they would be using a firm to cause so much trauma to disabled people needing there car back . you need to address there needs such as stopping this firm from taking a card number in order to go back after the car is returned to take money for things that are not true such as not cleaning it proper or lack of fuel .These cars are being dropped off to local garages and leaving them for the garage that is repairing the cars to just hand over a envelope and key no one there to look it over with the customer to pick out any damage or scratches the customer might not be responsible for . and worrying disabled and sick people that they might have money took at any time if the company sees or finds fault . also we do not know what exact amount is held in the tank as it allows extra for emergency fuel after using up the tank said amount .so when told to fill the customer will find they have to continue way above the amount needed . Why is the director of this company conncected to Bentley cars when i looked up companys house ? its time motability supplied each paying customer of motability with cars direct from the garage doing there repair . it is also time all people if they have a alergic reaction to something or need a service dog to supply cars to the disabled while there cars are being repaired without this threat hanging over them of having unlawful amounts taken from there accounts . Are motability and all garages including audi aware that under the equality act 2010 they are serving the public they are obliged to make arrangements to accomodate disabled customers . and that service and assistance dogs are used to help and make disabled peoples lifes more bearable in many different ways . and there is no test no colour of harness colour no paperwork or certificate and they should all be catered for and listened to . the system using diabolical companys needs to be ended now .

    Hired from Europcar at Newcastle…

    Hired from Europcar at Newcastle airport. Apart from a short wait everything went smoothly. Staff explained the process and I was on my way in a nice Peugeot 2008. On return pleasant staff quick process Rented from 27th September until 30th. Would rent again

    Dishonest damage claim

    Pick up ok drop off very poor nobody to check the vehicle. I used to own a garage business and am very experienced at checking cars for damage. I pointed out the damaged areas upon collection. There was no additional damage when i returned the vehicle and was later made to pay £130 totally fabricated claim a disgrace!

    Unbelievebly bad service

    I compalianed about an additional charge for an extra days hire (i brought the car back on time) relating to my rental agreement 156578397. I can confirm that the amount of 31.74 GBP has now been refunded - but then you have raised a new invoice for £34.37 on invoice 100434927621 - unbelievable - WHY ?

    Avoid at any cost!

    Avoid at any cost! Would mark as 0 if I could.. Absolutely appalling! Rented a car, paid online, came to collect to find out-the one I have booked is not available! Instead I was offered an “upgrade”-Not!- at an extra charge of the amount I have already paid! So double the cost! Agent would not have an eye contact, unhelpful is an understatement ! So left with no car or money as refund is not as quick as taking the money !!! Absolutely disgusted with the service, or the lack of it! Never ever! Northampton branch

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

    I booked a car through AutoEurope who collected full payment, confirmed my reservation and issued a voucher to collect the car from Europcar at Newcastle Airport. I live 16 miles from the airport, so someone gave me a lift to the airport to collect the vehicle (had to also pay the Newcastle Airport drop off charge (£4) to be dropped off in car park near the terminal! I went to the Europcar desk in the terminal only to find no one there. Instead, there was a notice saying that the desk was closed and that they were operating from a cabin in the car rental car park at the opposite end of the airport! On arrival at the new Europcar location I was asked for my license which I presented. I also offered to give them my passport and proof of address which they declined (said they didn’t need them)! After 10 minutes the person behind the desk asked me to confirm my address which I did, and I was then told that Europcar had declined my reservation and that they could not give me the car I had booked and paid for! In fact, they couldn’t give me any vehicle! When I sought clarification, I was told that their system had not been able to verify my address which by the way is on my licence and I also had additional proof of address with me but this was not acceptable as the “system had declined” my paid for in full confirmed reservation! I spoke to the manager who said he could do nothing nor could he refund the money I had already paid as it had been collected by AutoEurope and I would have to take it up with them! He also astounded me with a tale of how Europcar was clamping down on who they hired cars to because some had not been returned and others had been used in robberies etc and as a result of these unacceptable comment and inferences I was left feeling as though I was some sort of undesirable crook! If that wasn’t bad enough this whole experience caused me a great deal of embarrassment as it was done in front of other customers including the bit about cars used in robberies etc hence the clampdown on who Europcar would hire vehicles to! I again challenged them and said that I’d been hiring cars for more than 40 years including with Europcar and never had any problems and was then told that I was the 3rd person in a row who the system had rejected, and that the manager was going to raise a query in the company’s group chat to see if other branches were having the same problem. Not that this helped my situation! Ultimately not only was I was unable to hire vehicle but I was also left stranded at the airport and had to take a taxi from the airport back to South Shields to pick up an alternative hire vehicle from a local car hire company before they shut at 1pm. This whole experience has proved far from acceptable and its unlikely that I will use AutoEurope again despite having used them many times previously but I certainly will not be using or indeed recommending Europcar again, in fact quite the opposite – I strongly advise anyone thinking of using Europcar to think long and hard about it and certainly don’t assume that you have a confirmed reservation. Based on my experience, not only will it prove to be a costly exercise, but it’s also an experience you are likely to regret! If by any chance you are foolish enough to try and book with Europcar than I strongly suggest you put an alternative back up plan in place too, because based on my experience you are more than likely going to need to fall back on it!
