A very strange case - I read that they went bankrupt in January 2019 and their clients switched to other operators. But, my friend made a switch to them in October 2021 and the gas card works normally ... What is going on ?????
Ofgem closed down Economy Energy in January 2019 following an official investigation into the supplier. In June 2018, the Economy Energy suffered backlash after customers complained about money being removed from their bank accounts without notice or explanation. The main reason for complain was that customers insisted that their accounts had been in order and that they owed no money to the supplier. This signaled the beginning of the end for the supplier. Customer complaints led to Ofgem opening a formal investigation, and at the beginning of 2019, the regulatory body banned the supplier from taking on new customers. One week later, the energy company ceased trading.

Very bad directors. Customer service is very poor and no refunds.

It's a bit redundant to write a review now that Economy Energy have gone into administration (I'm not ashamed to say I was so happy to hear that). However they are truly the worst. I've never had so many people lie directly to me about refunds coming and 'it's ok, I'm a supervisor so I'll own this problem. Trust me'. After months of waiting I ended up contacting my bank and using my Direct Debit Guarantee to reclaim the money they owned me. I did this before EE collapsed, so not sure if it will work for others still waiting for a refund. Good luck.

Moved to another supplier. Still took another payment after I moved. Still waiting for for a final invoice to find out if i owe them or visa versa 9 weeks later.

I’m glad they’ve gone , horrendous company from top to all the staff. I don’t care what ppl say it’s not the staff who are it’s because of the bosses. If any of them had a conscious the staff would’ve done something about it . I’ve still not received my final bills when the ombudsman upheld my complaint . If I email now all I’m getting is EE have ceased trading . Obviously we all know that just as bad as it is. I left last June before my contract was up . If anyone is owed money and you paid by Direct Debit, claim it back from your bank through the Direct Debit indemnity , even if you’ve cancelled your Direct debit you can still claim . We have heard nothing. I rang Ovo and they said we will add you to the list, heard that before ! We are in a funny position as we had taken EE to court, they hadn’t paid up and now the courts are asking if the debt has been settled. I think we will wait until Ovo repay the debt and then have to get the courts to chase EE’s creditors for the court costs and the interest as I doubt Ovo will pay that. If they dont pay up soon I will be taking them to court too ! We are owed £362 and it’s being going on since October. According to the EE website ex EE employees have been retained to sort the accounts out. God help us !

Its been nearly 3 months trying to get a refund. They keep saying that the money will be paid "next week", or "we are experiencing some backlogs in our payment systems" etc etc. This is either lies, incompetence or poor systems. Or possibly all 3! Personally, I will avoid this company in future.

Having an absolute nightmare with them. They've tripled the price of my monthly bills so I switched to another provider. That has a normal price. They owe me £500 since August which I still have not received and taking further steps now which is costing me a lot of energy... The irony... Cannot recommend. And not the 1st time I've had a problem with them!
