Very rude operator who asked me to repeat what I was saying 5 times then she hung up on me

A very strange case

A very strange case - I read that they went bankrupt in January 2019 and their clients switched to other operators. But, my friend made a switch to them in October 2021 and the gas card works normally ... What is going on ?????

Closed down by Ofgem.

Ofgem closed down Economy Energy in January 2019 following an official investigation into the supplier. In June 2018, the Economy Energy suffered backlash after customers complained about money being removed from their bank accounts without notice or explanation. The main reason for complain was that customers insisted that their accounts had been in order and that they owed no money to the supplier. This signaled the beginning of the end for the supplier. Customer complaints led to Ofgem opening a formal investigation, and at the beginning of 2019, the regulatory body banned the supplier from taking on new customers. One week later, the energy company ceased trading.

F*ckwittery of the highest order.

Fantastic news. The worst company I have ever dealt with. F*ckwittery of the highest order. Lies, deceit and theft of my money. I have been chasing my refund since early August 2018. I raised 3 complaints, 2 of which were closed without speaking to me and the 3rd was raised before Xmas and no contact from them on that one either. I feel sorry for the call centre staff that will have had to take thousands of calls from furious customers and who have now lost their jobs but I am glad that I now have a chance of getting my money back from EE.

EE money claim question

Does anyone know how previous customers will be refunded now, or what happens to money claims in progress with the court at the moment? EE applied for an extension until 15th January on my claim...

AWFUL

4 months since switching from Economy Energy and still they have not refunded my agreed credit, countless emails later. I would give them no stars if I could - in my opinion they are the worst energy supplier ever!!!!!!!!!!

Think it is a shame this company has…

Think it is a shame this company has gone, I have had a mostly positive experience over the last year and a half. Was not fussed about having to pay 2 monts supply up front, you still have to pay for it, would rather pay a little up front for a better deal. The website was not fantastic, had to phone up with meter readings, as the website wouldn't take them, but the billing was pretty accurate if you gave them a regular reading. Sometimes you even got a bill as they seemed to appear on the online account at random intervals. Saved a lot with EE. Not so good over the last few months with an extra DD and some funny meter readings appearing but you could see they were failing.

Hopfully the directors wiil be held…

Hopfully the directors wiil be held responsible for running a cowboy company like EE. I have been owed money for months. It would appear the smartmetre installed for my electricity does not tally with there records I have been on estimated readings for 10months.why are these companies not monitored by the energy industry to ensure they are competent to service the requirements

Economy energy finally gone belly up

Economy energy finally gone belly up, so much for not closing the doors as per last company statement I spoke to staff on Monday and was still being promised my refunds shortly I will now have to get my Β£1931 from the replacement energy supplyer Yet another company with Kilji Lubna at the helm gone bust I suppose taking Β£5m out of the company to buy the house didn't help I just hope the authorities chase and recover any monies which were removed from the company

Economy Energy go to hell!

You still owe me Β£80 since I left you last August. I can not afford to lose this money. I recognise that there are thousands owed more that this. Why didn’t the onwardsman sort this company out earlier. I blame them

Economy Energy are no more!!!

Yes! Yes! Yes! Finally these crooks have gone bust!!! Now all their poor ripped off, stressed customers can finally move and rest assured that by law if they owe you money then you will get it back. Something they just couldn't seem to do was reimburse customers due credit. Took me six stressful months to get my credit after I left them and I consider myself to be one of the lucky ones. They caused me so much stress they made me ill. Justice at last!

Avoid this company at all costs

Avoid this company at all costs! Their customer service is shocking and they are very unhelpful. They are one of the worst companies I have had to deal with. They refuse to send engineers out when there are clearly issues with meters and the customer has only got Β£1 left on their gas so will be running our within 24hrs.... despite reiterating this is for an elderly customer who is very vulnerable and will be without heating and hot water. Instead I am told to call back once the gas runs out. I am now going to be switching suppliers after all the hassle they have caused for my Father.
