I booked a car from AERCAR pathos.

I booked a car from AERCAR pathos. There was no problem booking online I had payed a deposit and already arranged the insurance (full package) When I got there there was new insurance information I did not know about. I’d already chosen full insurance package online but they gave me 3 options, one being pay €50 to be covered, second option was pay €800 and receive it back when dropping the car back and I forgot the third option but I had already agreed insurance on the online contract, I went with the €800 payment option which will be returned as long as you follow the instructions provided at the desk if there are any problems. I was advised I should take pictures of the car for prof of any damages which they all do. The car was covered in dents, cracks and this included a part lose rear bumper. Due to the fact I had paid €800 I took 2 full walk round videos of all the damages and panels of the car. I also decided to only use the car for the two long road trips to my destination and back, as well as two small shopping trips as I was now uncomfortable using the car that was damaged so bad on the chance of losing €800 . When I returned to have the car inspected straight away they said they noticed a crack on the back bumper had I taken any pictures. I showed them the video of the lose clip on the back bumper which was unlined and of the crack they claimed was new which was clearly faded and showed it was old and discoloured. I was then told okay you can have your €800 back but if I had no video evidence I would of been €800 out of pocket so if advise to steer clear as it seems pretty obvious this is a way they make extra income as the car was a bucket. They sent a message for reviews and I think I was a bit to nice with my ratings now I’ve read all the other comments on here. The shuttle bus drivers were great to talk to and very helpful though. A very unpleasant experience.

Questionable roadworthiness vehicles…

I was provided with an old Ford Focus estate that was in poor condition with 65,000 km on the clock. When getting the car there were warning lights on the dash and I was told “thats ok” and to ignore them when I questioned this. Overall the collection was quick and easy and that was the last of the good things with AerCar. The air conditioning was worse than anything I have experienced, dropped the internal temperature a few degrees but only when on absolutely full power. Made the driving during the day quite miserable and uncomfortable and you could not talk to anyone in the car over the noise of the fan and air conditioning. I had a blow out at night, which destroyed a tire that needed replacing and I was then charged for as I was told “you destroyed the tire”. Complete sidewall blowout and delamination of the tread from the carcass…..Never mind the fact that the spare tire was also flat, the wheel spanner was not the correct size and there was no jack in the car. Making a relatively straight forward wheel replacement a 90 minute exercise sitting in the dark on the side of the road waiting for a rescue vehicle to get to me. I was then responsible for getting the tire replaced. Great way to waste several hours of my holiday. Credit to the rescue team and Lagrome Trading for getting to me relatively quickly considering the area I was stranded in and then tire replacement in the morning. They were exceptional but only because they had nothing apart from an AerCar account to do the work. Poor maintenance of the vehicle provided and the lack of working tire sensors in the car further confirm this for me, they may have prevented the blowout as a fault would potentially have been raised before the blowout. When changing the tire it was clear this wheel had not been removed for some time, the corrosion between the wheel and the hub required an excessive amount of force to separate the two from each other, a 2ton rachet strap and rubber mallet the only thing to do this on the side of the road against the Armco barrier. The jack and tire spanner would have been useless on their own without the fully kitted rescue vehicle. I would love to see the service records as from the wheel change experience I don’t believe had gone through any maintenance or MOT equivalent anytime. Poor quality vehicle, lacking basics required ie Jack/tire spanner/inflated spare wheel, questionable road worthiness. I will not be using Aercar again and will go further to recommend to anyone not to use them.

An experience on its own

Service great! The car had excitement issues when going up hills and at high speeds, the scream of excitement booming from the car was good fun and the constant question of would it make it up the hill was excillerating. The 69bhp think has no more than 40 left. The fuel cap protector was completely busted and the question of how the hell you open it left me having to pick it open since there was no button or instruction on how to open it. Thanks to that we discovered we have covered cupholders next to the wheel, big plus! The passanger side mirror was electric, but when we recived it did not work. Positive side there is the passanger gets something to do when you need it ajusted, so they will get free entertainment and feel like they are part of the driving journey. Very nimble car so it was easy to manuver through all of cyprus without worrying it bumping into things. I have always wondered how it was to drive my grandmas couch. All in all, would maybe rent from aercar again but not the toyota aygo. This car was special. Make sure to take many pictures before and be very thourough, take pictures from every side of the car, raport issues as soon as you find them to avoid any complications later since the cars are not complete.

DO NOT RENT WITH THIS COMPANY!

We went to Cyprus twice and both times we booked our car there. Second time around we even recommended it to some friends because we were absolutely happy with the service. When we picked up the cars were told to take pictures of all the scratches the it had (like last time) - which were many as expected with cheap rental cars - but didn’t bother us as it doesn’t affect how the car drives. We were told to never go off-road, which we didn’t. Then we were asked to put our address, so they knew which part of Cyprus we were staying in and went our merry way. After returning the cars this time, a lady mentioned a new scratch at the bottom front of our friends car. She asked if they had pictures of the car before, and of course we took some. But as it is ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR this part could not be seen in the original photos. She then said we have to pay 230€ for the damage. We said that this is ridiculous, as we did not scratch the car, and they should have told us to even take pictures OF THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR. She furthermore said something along the lines of “ah I see you stayed in Polis, the roads there are not good”. No mention of this when we filled out where we stayed upon pick up. We then asked to speak the owner/manager who REFUSED to talk to us. As we had flights to catch we had no other option than to pay the 230€. We come to Cyprus every year but I will never ever rent with this company again, and neither should you!! There are so many better ones!! Please keep your money! Side Note: Not quite sure what they do with the money they take from people for scratches as NONE of the cars are without scratches, so it’s definitely not to fix them!

Manners over everything

Overall the car was good, the renting process was quick and easy, and the emergency call was helpful. HOWEVER: The night I rented the car (11/7 1 am) the airport shuttle driver Andreas was rude, unhelpful and belittling. I think the boss should tell him that he could come a long way with good manners! The day I returned the car (15/7 8 pm) a bald man with a long beard and a British accent saw my blue badge (disabled parking card), and apparently thought it would be alright to question whether I was truly disabled or not, because there was “physically nothing wrong with me” (his words). This isn’t right, and no one should experience that kind of bad behavior.

This is a horrible company

This is a horrible company. I rented a car from them. First off, the car was old (91K km), dirty and looked like crap. It wasn't the class of car I ordered. The people in the next lane had the door handle come off in their hands! I left and about 20 minutes out I started hearing a beep every 30 seconds. I realized a warning light with a car battery kept flashing. I was going to return the car for a replacement the next day and in the morning the battery was dead. I told them to come get the car and I'm cancelling and requested a full refund. I told them I didn't want another of their lousy cars. They charged me anyway and refused my refund request. Horrible company. Don't make the same mistake I did! UPDATE: Let me add that when I disputed the charge with my credit card company they lied and told them the car was in good working order. Liars and thief's. Never, ever, ever rent with these people. EVER!

This company rents broken cars.

This company offers good rates but provides broken cars. In last two months I rented cars from them twice. First time it was a Subaru XV with empty battery or charge problem. Second time I got a Honda Fit with cooling water leaking. The rent old cars. The replacement car we got was 2018 with 98,ooo km that sounded like a tractor. I will not rent a car from them again.

Loose car parts (paphos airport)

They are scammers. A loose part of the car wing mirror covering randomly fell off into the road as we were driving. The lady who served us said we would need to pay an additional €120 for this. Once we told them we had already paid for full insurance so we would not need to pay anything else, she was visibly annoyed and tried to say because we hadn’t reported this to them prior to bringing back the car we would need to pay extra (clutching at straws here), in the end this was irrelevant. I also note another customer mentions something similar a month ago…

WAS IT A SCAM?

We rented a car from their Paphos airport branch. The online booking and pick up at airport was OK and getting the car was quick and easy too. But BE WARNED! Take a video or lots of photos of the car. When we took it back, the guy checking went straight to a small scrath under the front and tried to tell us we had done it. It was like he knew to go and look right there immediately. He called another guy over and he also tried to say it was a new dent. Its horrible feeling as you stand there waiting for their decision. They take €1,000 euros from you as a deposit too. I really thought i was not getting my €1,000 back. Do yourself a favour and TAKE A VIDEO OF THE ENTIRE CAR BEFORE YOU LEAVE FOR EVIDENCE.
