I booked a car from AERCAR pathos.

I booked a car from AERCAR pathos. There was no problem booking online I had payed a deposit and already arranged the insurance (full package) When I got there there was new insurance information I did not know about. I’d already chosen full insurance package online but they gave me 3 options, one being pay €50 to be covered, second option was pay €800 and receive it back when dropping the car back and I forgot the third option but I had already agreed insurance on the online contract, I went with the €800 payment option which will be returned as long as you follow the instructions provided at the desk if there are any problems. I was advised I should take pictures of the car for prof of any damages which they all do. The car was covered in dents, cracks and this included a part lose rear bumper. Due to the fact I had paid €800 I took 2 full walk round videos of all the damages and panels of the car. I also decided to only use the car for the two long road trips to my destination and back, as well as two small shopping trips as I was now uncomfortable using the car that was damaged so bad on the chance of losing €800 . When I returned to have the car inspected straight away they said they noticed a crack on the back bumper had I taken any pictures. I showed them the video of the lose clip on the back bumper which was unlined and of the crack they claimed was new which was clearly faded and showed it was old and discoloured. I was then told okay you can have your €800 back but if I had no video evidence I would of been €800 out of pocket so if advise to steer clear as it seems pretty obvious this is a way they make extra income as the car was a bucket. They sent a message for reviews and I think I was a bit to nice with my ratings now I’ve read all the other comments on here. The shuttle bus drivers were great to talk to and very helpful though. A very unpleasant experience.

Questionable roadworthiness vehicles…

I was provided with an old Ford Focus estate that was in poor condition with 65,000 km on the clock. When getting the car there were warning lights on the dash and I was told “thats ok” and to ignore them when I questioned this. Overall the collection was quick and easy and that was the last of the good things with AerCar. The air conditioning was worse than anything I have experienced, dropped the internal temperature a few degrees but only when on absolutely full power. Made the driving during the day quite miserable and uncomfortable and you could not talk to anyone in the car over the noise of the fan and air conditioning. I had a blow out at night, which destroyed a tire that needed replacing and I was then charged for as I was told “you destroyed the tire”. Complete sidewall blowout and delamination of the tread from the carcass…..Never mind the fact that the spare tire was also flat, the wheel spanner was not the correct size and there was no jack in the car. Making a relatively straight forward wheel replacement a 90 minute exercise sitting in the dark on the side of the road waiting for a rescue vehicle to get to me. I was then responsible for getting the tire replaced. Great way to waste several hours of my holiday. Credit to the rescue team and Lagrome Trading for getting to me relatively quickly considering the area I was stranded in and then tire replacement in the morning. They were exceptional but only because they had nothing apart from an AerCar account to do the work. Poor maintenance of the vehicle provided and the lack of working tire sensors in the car further confirm this for me, they may have prevented the blowout as a fault would potentially have been raised before the blowout. When changing the tire it was clear this wheel had not been removed for some time, the corrosion between the wheel and the hub required an excessive amount of force to separate the two from each other, a 2ton rachet strap and rubber mallet the only thing to do this on the side of the road against the Armco barrier. The jack and tire spanner would have been useless on their own without the fully kitted rescue vehicle. I would love to see the service records as from the wheel change experience I don’t believe had gone through any maintenance or MOT equivalent anytime. Poor quality vehicle, lacking basics required ie Jack/tire spanner/inflated spare wheel, questionable road worthiness. I will not be using Aercar again and will go further to recommend to anyone not to use them.

This was the worst car rental…

This was the worst car rental experience ever. We had never encountered the fact that the drop-off point could be outside the airport and could not imagine how inconvenient it could be. Firstly, no one arrived at the meeting place at the appointed time and only after 45 minutes, when the agent of another service contacted the representatives of AERCAR, the shuttle came for us. They explained it to us by the fact that we did not specify the flight number, but I specifically indicated that we wanted to pick up the car at the airport at 13.00. And if we arrived at the airport by bicycle or in any other way? Secondly, we had to leave a deposit in the amount of 1000 euros as a guarantee of the insurance amount, in case of an accident, since we arranged the rental through CarJet and, accordingly, the insurance through this company, we also did not know about this condition and could not have known about it. Thirdly, the car is quite old and not in the best condition (the brake pads are worn out so much that they have already been fastened), the bottom of the trunk was knocked down, there was mold under the floor mats. If we had not paid for the rental, we would not have taken such a car. Returning the car was much easier, but still not very convenient when it is far from the airport. Next time I will be more careful when choosing a car rental company.

Avoid Aercar Paphos

Arrived late at night in Paphos. Shuttle eventually arrived to take us to the Aercar office about 10 minutes away. Guy behind desk said we need 1000 euro refundable deposit which we didnt know about or have (who has 1000 euros spare)? When we booked the package holiday with jet2 they assured us that the £70 insurance covers everything. He said give me 50 euros instead of deposit but if you damage the car you are liable or give me 70 euros instead of deposit and you are covered for damages. Reluctantly paid the 70 euros. Car had damage so i made sure they knew about it before i drove off. Fast forward a week and we returned the car at 5.30pm instead of the 8pm drop off time (so glad we did) The guy came out, sat in the drivers seat and said "we have a problem, you owe 50 euros cleaning fee"! The car wasnt that bad to be honest. A bit of sand and a few crumbs. He said take it 2 miles down the road and get it valeted or pay 50 euros. I opted to drive to the garage. The car wash was closed but luckily i caught the staff just before they were about to leave. They said they would help me out for 10 euros. It took them 5 minutes to blast the interior with air. I had no cash so had to find an ATM sharpish as there were delays at passport control in the airport and i was conscious of this. Aercar know that you probably wont have 1000 euros and are only too happy to take your 50 or 70 euros. I would not use Aercar again. Choose a car hire company based at the airport.

I actually had a great experience with Aercar. Value for money is key. If your looking for a fancy car I don't know if this is the place. We were very happy with the Nissan note, served us well on our 6 day trip. No problem at all. Smooth, easy and quick pickup and drop off. The shuttle in Larnaca is on the departure floor when you walk outside all the way to the left you'll see the stop with Aercar sign

Terrible customer service!

Terrible customer service! We were given an “upgrade” which was filthy and grubby with a broken tail light and previous occupant detritus left in the doors. We were told it was full of petrol but it was barely 3/4 full. Woman checking it in wouldn’t take my word for it and demanded a photo which luckily we had! 2 other complaints whilst I was in the shop. Terrible!

DO NOT USE THEM- rip off

DO NOT USE THEM! I rented a car from Larnaka airport, and paid extra for complete insurance. While driving I scraped the car on a curb. When I returned the car, they would not honor the insurance. So I asked them to refund what I'd paid for the insurance, and they also would not do that. I had to pay them 350 euros for the "damage" because they had my suitcase and I needed to get to the airport (they are offsite). NEVER AGAIN.

Arrived to drop of our car at 3.50am…

Arrived to drop of our car at 3.50am (6am flight ) and was greeted with absolute chaos . Only 1 staff member to pick people up from the airport drop them off and check in and give out the cars . At 4.45 am we were still waiting for a minibus to the airport because the last one going was full. The price might be cheap but this was a joke . I must admit the one bloke working was doing his best but clearly can’t do everything that was due .

Best car rental I have ever used

I am not really sure why there are so many negative reviews. In my opinion this was the best rental car company we have ever used and we have used quite a few. When we arrived at the airport we were told to go to car park 5 (Cyprus pathos airport) and wait for the shuttle bus to take us to the car rental location. We waited 5 minutes and were picked up, the journey to the car rental pick up, was 5 minutes away from the airport. We arrived, and were served immediately, there was no waiting time (previous car rentals, we have waited in queues for 3 hours in baking heat). We were given a bigger car than what we had paid for, all our luggage fit into the boot. Myself and my husband went around every square inch of the car, photographing and videoing anything that we felt needed to be added to the sheet they give you with diagrams of the car, where scratches and scrapes have been already recorded. This part takes a bit of time, especially as the car was quite battered. We went back to them to tell them what we had found, and they were great. They didn’t question anything, they just photocopied our updated sheet as proof for themselves and away we went. Upon return, the process was just as fluid. They were efficient, took the car from us, didn’t even check it and immediately took us back into the office to release the holding fee on our credit card of 1350 euros. We waited approx. 10 minutes for the shuttle bus as there was additional people waiting and then we were dropped off at the airport. I couldn’t recommend them more. Tips for travellers to avoid issues in my opinion are: Take the time to check the car inside and out for scraps, dints and anything not already recorded, and mark anything additional you find on the sheet. Video EVERYTHING!! We opened all doors to record inside the sills, the boot, the roof of the car, we spent the time recording so we had evidence.
