Review summary
48 Mobile has room for improvement based on customer feedback. Customers particularly appreciate service and great value, though some mention concerns about customer service and expensive.
The worst operator I've ever used. The internet is absolutely unstable. The speed is 0.2mb/s and this is 4g coverage? According to diagnostics, it feels like they're "scattering" it across different servers, like some kind of parasite. Ping is crazy. +- normal internet only at night. I don't recommend it
False Advertising Buyer Beware.
You have to purchase a plan by contract before you get your free month and then you have very little data as they say it's a FAIR USAGE POLICY.
Absolutely A Disgrace.
It Looks like a great deal but it's not.
Beware.
Absolutely terrible. Indescribably useless. Data rarely ever works, and if it does, it’s 3g. There is no roaming despite what they say. I’ve tried everything and even got in contact with 48 to fix the issue and still nothing works. On top of that, you are not able to call non Irish numbers. UK, Spain, America etc. Complete joke. I don’t understand how something can be so useless. I am not usually the type to leave reviews and complain about things, but holy god 48 is terrible. The price is good, but the quality of services needs a serious overhaul.
Hello this 48 mobile is a load of crap the signal bar on my brand new phone was only 1 bar signal sim card deal cost as they say 12.99 but never mention you have to pay an extra 12.99 on top of the already 12.99 deal bundle of activation scam god knows who owns 48 but my god worse than eir mobile
Only with them for 9 days. Blocked me from 5g access. Another Virtual operator than just wants your details to sell on to the highest bidder. Stay away from virtual operators, and stay well clear of their parent company "3"-most corrupt mobile provider in Europe.
I have been a customer for over a couple of years but today was the last straw. I tried to use my rewards link to obtain the free credit and a €10 Penney’s voucher for myself and a friend. I sent the link to my friend but it wouldn’t work. I then spent an hour and a half with two of their chat employees. One of which told my friend to set up an account anyways. My friend said we wouldn’t get the rewards if they did that. They then said to send another code. Again, I explained that the code is linked to my account and it remains the same, irrespective of who I send it to. Eventually, they told me the code doesn’t work and it will take up to 10 working days to investigate. This is not the first time this has happened. It happened last year but I didn’t bother to investigate it at the time. Furthermore, when you need to send a text to the PTSB, it won’t send because 48.ie thinks you are texting a premium service. They have now lost a customer and a potential one because of their extremely poor service.
A poor rating, in the 5 years I have been a customer I have never had roaming work abroad. No WiFi calling and poor coverage in my home . Only stayed because I had a 7.99 deal, but it’s time to roam in peace, I’m off to a good provider.
When in Ireland, everything works well. We went abroad in Europe and didn't have any reception. We tried all troubleshooting steps and nothing worked. We not only had to buy a third party SIM card but it ruined the holiday. The support is robotic, has poor English skills and doesn't even understand simple questions. They sent me a semi-sarcastic, standard "apology". If you want a reliable service while travelling, this is not the carrier for you. Also, I recruited someone to 48, only to learn that Uber Eats does not deliver to my town, so I had to forfeit the bonus/it expired. They also had the same experience with Roaming. Lesson learned.
I have been with them for many years, attracted by the 7.99/month cost. It has always been a horrible service, abroad I cannot get the data service to work efficiently and even in Ireland I cannot receive calls most of the times and they have never been able to fix the issue. I have changed the physical SIM card a couple of times, but the problem never went away. It is a disgrace, because at the same price I have a foreign SIM card, and it works like a charm. I will have to switch to another provider, unfortunately, and pay the rip off prices that Ireland offers.
