48 Mobile has room for improvement based on customer feedback. Customers particularly appreciate service and great value, though some mention concerns about customer service and expensive.
The worst operator I've ever used. The internet is absolutely unstable. The speed is 0.2mb/s and this is 4g coverage? According to diagnostics, it feels like they're "scattering" it across different servers, like some kind of parasite. Ping is crazy. +- normal internet only at night. I don't recommend it
False Advertising Buyer Beware.
You have to purchase a plan by contract before you get your free month and then you have very little data as they say it's a FAIR USAGE POLICY.
Absolutely A Disgrace.
It Looks like a great deal but it's not.
Beware.
Absolutely terrible. Indescribably useless. Data rarely ever works, and if it does, it’s 3g. There is no roaming despite what they say. I’ve tried everything and even got in contact with 48 to fix the issue and still nothing works. On top of that, you are not able to call non Irish numbers. UK, Spain, America etc. Complete joke. I don’t understand how something can be so useless. I am not usually the type to leave reviews and complain about things, but holy god 48 is terrible. The price is good, but the quality of services needs a serious overhaul.
Cheap, plenty of data and unlimited minutes. Config is not user friendly. Had issues with SMS in Ireland. Had many many issues then roaming. Tech support is a bit painful but helpful enough, no phone support thiugh, just chat box. Then going abroad you have to know which setiings to change to make data and phone calls to work. It's quite DIY, techy and hands on, but it works eventually. I don't understand though why such manual setting changes are required. I used to be with another network, everything used to work seamlessly when going abroad.
I changed to 48 a few days ago attracted by the excellent price. Stupidly, I didn’t take advantage of the ‘try before you buy’ option and changed my number to 48 straight away. The port took place within an hour and everything seemed fine until I tried to buy membership. The website wouldn’t accept payment on an AIB debit card. After about a dozen attempts the online help told me to get someone else to gift me the membership through their gift shop (which worked after about 4 further attempts). I subsequently discovered that using an android device worked while my iPhone didn’t. Everything seems to be OK now but I’m dreading the next time I have to pay them. The website is clunky and is littered with spelling and grammatical errors. Any company that can’t be bothered to write in correct English should be viewed with suspicion. If they skimp on this what other aspects of their service will not be up to scratch? I’m not expecting a work of literature or even a professional copywriting job, but surely they have someone on their staff who has leaving cert English? They advertise ‘4G’ but actually it’s LTE. Now I have my membership everything is working and the price is very good so I’m hoping my troubles are over and it was worth persevering.
Brutal..... Roaming is so bad the speed was 0.20 in Belfast.... Unbelievable.... Customer care said it should get up to 2mb 3g speed as 4G isn't available 😂🤣🤣🤣
Come on now.... #AVOID...... Its a half baked network.
Just coming home from a week in Portugal.
Very poor service from 48.
No data service for entire duration of the trip.
Had to use WiFi where I could.
Checked all the settings on my new IPhone to no satisfaction.
Worse than useless!
They know dame well there is a problem!
You get what you pay for and 48 is a perfect example of that.
Awful roaming service! No connection. This is the 21st century a d they advertise roaming package in the price point membership, since there is no internet abroad that surmounts to false advertising and malpractice/ misleading information. Chat support is awful as I did reach out to them to clarify any future issues should they occur and they never mentioned even once to do any changes in settings or there could be an issue using internet on roaming
I am overseas in Greece and my 48 roaming does not enable me to receive calls nor texts. There is no local carrier available. I regret I didn’t read the reviews before I changed to 48. Absolutely useless to me. If you plan to travel outside Ireland subscribe to another service.
Whenever I ring someone they can barely hear me no matter what signal I have got. I needed to ring emergency services (999) the other day and the operator could not hear me. This is a major issue, I would suggest boycotting 48 altogether as this network can not save your life during an emergency because it can’t even make a simple phone call when needed most.
Great value for money if you don't need to use it outside of Ireland and the UK
48 are wonderful value for money if you just use the phone in Ireland - Dublin in my case. It just costs me ten euro a month and I very rarely need to top up. Most of the bad reviews here are from people who use the phone in continental Europe and I agree it is terrible for that, especially (in my experience) in France. It works well in the UK though. I'd advise getting a second, pay as you go, sim or phone if you are travelling to continental Europe. I'm giving it five stars to balance some of the negative reviews based on poor coverage in continental Europe- for me it's well worth the inconvenience of getting a pay as you go sim/ second phone when I travel to France, as I save so much money in Ireland. I've been with 48 months for 6 years now.
So far so good. Moved from 3 when contract ended. No difference whatsoever other than the huge saving to be made each month. No hassle at all with porting my number, using data from the word go. Glad I switched.
Please take my advice and stay away from it… I’m begging you. It’s not worth the many strokes you’ll get due to 48 simply not working… you’ll end up chatting with costumer service sitting somewhere in Asia over every single little phone call you try to make (wether within Ireland or abroad, it will always tell you „you’re not allowed to call this number“ time after time and then you’ll end up chatting with CS for an hour)… i really gave it many chances over 3 months. I’m not easily scared away, but this is just the absolute worst I’ve ever seen … it doesn’t get better no matter how often you involve customer service… please take my advice and stay away, please! That’s the best advice I can give humanity.
PS: i only gave one star because that was the minimum required…
