48 Mobile has room for improvement based on customer feedback. Customers particularly appreciate service and great value, though some mention concerns about customer service and expensive.
The worst operator I've ever used. The internet is absolutely unstable. The speed is 0.2mb/s and this is 4g coverage? According to diagnostics, it feels like they're "scattering" it across different servers, like some kind of parasite. Ping is crazy. +- normal internet only at night. I don't recommend it
False Advertising Buyer Beware.
You have to purchase a plan by contract before you get your free month and then you have very little data as they say it's a FAIR USAGE POLICY.
Absolutely A Disgrace.
It Looks like a great deal but it's not.
Beware.
Absolutely terrible. Indescribably useless. Data rarely ever works, and if it does, it’s 3g. There is no roaming despite what they say. I’ve tried everything and even got in contact with 48 to fix the issue and still nothing works. On top of that, you are not able to call non Irish numbers. UK, Spain, America etc. Complete joke. I don’t understand how something can be so useless. I am not usually the type to leave reviews and complain about things, but holy god 48 is terrible. The price is good, but the quality of services needs a serious overhaul.
I am with 48 for over a year and would have been very happy. But two weeks ago I had reason to go up to Northern Ireland, and loo and behold I had no service. It states on the 48 website that roaming was introduced 22nd September 2022. I was in a car driving to different venues and had noGoogle Maps, this was a disaster. I also had no phone service. I contacted 48 and was given a way to connect I thanked them, then went about trying to connect. Not a hope. I went on the website and was referred to a Video, still not working. I had before I went up North phoned 48 and asked if the roaming service was working and was assured it was. I asked again and again was assured it was working. I phoned a Tech friend of mine, on the hotel phone and he went through everything they had suggested, and it would not work. He then told me his brother had gone to France on holidays and all their 4 mobiles would not work. I had to go up North again to day and having written down all the expert 48 advice tried again but to no avail. Surely it is wrong for a company to advertise a product that does not work. Calling 48 is a waste of time as you get the same advice which does not work. I am obviously switching Networks, but now I have no idea which one to go to. I might phone 48 and ask for their advice so I would know the one not to go to.
If there was a 'minus' star value that's what these losers would get. They don't even deserve one star. Absolute sham. Still waiting for my number to be ported after SIX DAYS. Going back to my previous provider.
Great network overall with fantastic prices. I have switched a long time ago and recently also switched rest of family. Always great coverage 4G and roaming in EU works great ( all you need to do simply change some APN sim settings) you can carry your data for the future use is also great and unique. Thanks for cheap prices 48 team!
Switched to 48 when they had an offer of €7.99 for life.. (few years back)
I am more than happy with their service and particularly the price.. €7.99 a month..!!! 😁
Even used it for my house Internet needs when my broadband was down..
Telling to everyone I know to switch to 48..
Thank you 48.ie for allowing people live their lives without getting worried about crazy phone bills...
48 forever.. 🤙
Signal strength is so so throughout Ireland not the best by far. Just a warning, if you are traveling abroad for the sake of your sanity switch provider. Their roaming just doesnt work and their support is a disaster as most of the techs just dont know how to resolve the issue. In the end I was put through to someone who knew what they were talking about but what I had to do to get the issue resolved was unreal. Changing IP addresses, changing APN address and changing port numbers. In the end I had to do fix the issue on 5 phones as all the family were with 48.
So I am 1 of the lucky ones and pay €7.99 a month.
Coverage in Ireland is good, in my experience better than GoMo and faster.
I have noticed recently 48 has a tendency to lock onto 3G signal but this can be overcome with manually selecting 4G I have a unlocked iPhone 13mini.
As for roaming to be straight with you;
In my experience 48 doesn’t work in the USA. I travelled April 2022
So I just bought a T-Mobile sim out there.
As for France it did work eventually Oct 2021.
As for the London Aug 2022. It did work manually fixing the apn settings but the data speed was desperately slow. Not strong enough to depend on,Stuck on 3G.
I knew from previous experiences so I brought a Vodafone prepay sim from Ireland.
However positively I travelled to Donegal this weekend through Northern Ireland.
48 worked no issues (you have to follow there steps on the YouTube video )and was on 4G about 10mbs speed @ times.
Hears hoping the roaming will get better.
This network just does not work in Berlin. Paid the monthly membership which should enable me to 10GB of roaming mobile data (which does work in London and some other countries by the way) but cannot connect to services here in Germany so left with zero data. Have to switch networks to a German provider and get a new SIM card instead. 48 works well in Ireland but not abroad. There is no alternative solution which is bad, I think they are meant to be working on it.
I have been a 48 customer for 2 years now, last year I travelled to Poland and was unable to access my mobile data, one year later and I'm now in Berlin where 48 does not provide any mobile data to customers. I thought this issue would be fixed but it in fact got worse.
Very disappointed, cheap price but you really pay in convenience and reliability.
Pay the extra costs and go for a reliable network like 3, Eir, Vodafone, GoMo or anyone else really.
