Review summary
48 Mobile has room for improvement based on customer feedback. Customers particularly appreciate service and great value, though some mention concerns about customer service and expensive.
The worst operator I've ever used. The internet is absolutely unstable. The speed is 0.2mb/s and this is 4g coverage? According to diagnostics, it feels like they're "scattering" it across different servers, like some kind of parasite. Ping is crazy. +- normal internet only at night. I don't recommend it
False Advertising Buyer Beware.
You have to purchase a plan by contract before you get your free month and then you have very little data as they say it's a FAIR USAGE POLICY.
Absolutely A Disgrace.
It Looks like a great deal but it's not.
Beware.
Absolutely terrible. Indescribably useless. Data rarely ever works, and if it does, it’s 3g. There is no roaming despite what they say. I’ve tried everything and even got in contact with 48 to fix the issue and still nothing works. On top of that, you are not able to call non Irish numbers. UK, Spain, America etc. Complete joke. I don’t understand how something can be so useless. I am not usually the type to leave reviews and complain about things, but holy god 48 is terrible. The price is good, but the quality of services needs a serious overhaul.
In my experience this 48 mobile is a complete disaster zone. Roaming is as a nightmare, support is worthless and regardless the problem the end result requires you to get a new sim card. I am now on my third SIM card in under 2 years. Time to a new network!!!!
Avoid at all costs.
I joined 3 weeks ago and I wont renew for next month.
The signal is the worst I ve ever had, no internet, no signal for calls, 4G network is veeeery deficient.
Besides, I joined using a referral and they did not give me my free month nor the Uber eats vochure. They made a mistake during the referral joining process and did not took responsibility.
The customer suppor team is very deficient as well, they can not help and they dont give a good reason.
Not happy at all with this network!
Stay clear if you intend on travel to Europe/ UK, no data coverage whatsoever, get what you pay for I suppose. I switched to clearmobile after bad experiences in UK with 48 and the difference was fantastic. Good enough network for Ireland but that's it.
Switched from a pay-as-you-go SIM with eir and regretted it almost immediately. Totally unreliable data connection both when home in Ireland and while roaming in the EU. Gave it a few frustrating months to improve but am now back on eir again.
48 is ok , not the best and zero data roaming, I'm just back from lanzarote after 2 weeks only that the WiFi was good in most places I'd have had nothing this is the second time this has happened while away, I'm strongly thinking of leaving 48
Really good coverage and good price as long as you're within Ireland and don't travel too far rural. My biggest issue was with travelling within the EU. Never got internet or service when travelling to a new country. Without Wifi I would have been stuck. Although customer service tried multiple times to help I still ended up with barely any internet to use my phone.
I have left 48. The worst mobile phone provider & service I have ever experienced. Calls lost & dropped on many an occasion. The final straw was when I was in holiday in Italy nothing worked. On the chat with Etka I was advised to enter different codes, I did this & still no service. I’m not sure if ETKA was a robot, as it was the worst customer service experience I have experienced. ETKA needs a lot of training. Glad I’m back with Vodafone.
I don't know what is going one. Been on 48 for same time and now it's days then nobody can reach me in calls then no signal for hours. Like what's going one. I start thing need go back to Vodafone.
Absolute joke of a service, I got the sim very quickly, activated and signed up for €12.99 then tried to port my number over. This was on Monday the 25/07/2022. Told it we be a few hours, previous provider cut service and still no service from 48.ie Three days no access to phone calls and no update as now they say they are having issues and can take 48 “working hours” to complete
The unlimited calls and texts are great value for money but data leaves much to be desired. They use the Three network but the service is well and truly second hand through what's called deprioritisation. Even at 4G+ I get download speeds of under 2Mbps. Even though it's €30 a month I'll be returning to Three for guaranteed streaming through hotspot!
