Review summary
48 Mobile has room for improvement based on customer feedback. Customers particularly appreciate service and great value, though some mention concerns about customer service and expensive.
The worst operator I've ever used. The internet is absolutely unstable. The speed is 0.2mb/s and this is 4g coverage? According to diagnostics, it feels like they're "scattering" it across different servers, like some kind of parasite. Ping is crazy. +- normal internet only at night. I don't recommend it
False Advertising Buyer Beware.
You have to purchase a plan by contract before you get your free month and then you have very little data as they say it's a FAIR USAGE POLICY.
Absolutely A Disgrace.
It Looks like a great deal but it's not.
Beware.
Absolutely terrible. Indescribably useless. Data rarely ever works, and if it does, it’s 3g. There is no roaming despite what they say. I’ve tried everything and even got in contact with 48 to fix the issue and still nothing works. On top of that, you are not able to call non Irish numbers. UK, Spain, America etc. Complete joke. I don’t understand how something can be so useless. I am not usually the type to leave reviews and complain about things, but holy god 48 is terrible. The price is good, but the quality of services needs a serious overhaul.
Have been with 48 for many years and have found their Irish service reasonable for the price. BUT have recently been doing a fair bit of post COVID travel and have had zero roaming in any the countries I have visited, which has caused me all sorts of problems from finding directions to uploading tickets, making my travel experience quite stressful instead of enjoyable. Looking for a new provider asap.
With 48 a few years. Excellent value for money at home in Ireland for calls, texts and unlimited data. USELESS for roaming anywhere in EU. My advice is, don't bother with roaming at all. It's too stressful. Buy a pre paid local sim card for your holiday destination.
We were served by 3 very helpful gentlemen, our main salesperson was Shane in the Blackpool Outlet Store we purchased a bed for our daughter and he was just so patient and went above and beyond with his help and assistance
Thanks Shane
Unfortunately i missed my SIM on a travel and i placed the order for the replacement sim since a month. After that i trying to check the satus for that replacement im getting only one answer “ still there is no actions taken from the 48 and each representatives are raising the problem to their higher authorities to solve that problem since one month. Finally i took another sim and started to change the number from every where like bank, insurance etc.. what a sweet service provider….
I have been with 48 for the last few years and had been very happy with them. I recommended them to all my family. However in the past few weeks, something has definitely changed. I now often only have one bar of reception or else ‘no service’. Also on WhatsApp it says that ‘your carrier has changed, do you want to change or keep your number?’. I am now missing calls from people, the phone doesn’t ring at all or then if it does ring, people find it hard to hear me. I would like to know what has changed with them, I am now considering changing network again. There is no point having a cheap plan if you can’t use the phone properly.
It's fantastic value. At the end of the day you get what you pay for.
I signed both my parents up to 48.ie and I am more than happy with the overall service. The cost of both their monthly contracts together is lower than what just my Mum was paying previously to Vodafone!
It is true that roaming is a bit tricky with them though and we needed to update some server settings via an app when in England.
But ultimately, we get what we pay for and based on the overall offering I would still give them five stars.
Have been with them since the 7.99 offer, and now it's a case of rapidly diminishing returns. Speeds of data which started out blisteringly fast, now top out at 9mbps. On a good day. Zero roaming as many others have said , although it worked first time away in Greece.
Now they seem to have reduced the days from a calendar month to 28 days.
Shoddy shoddy sh*tshow now.
Positives . It's still cheap for those who just want to text.
Hello guys few months ago I puted 1 start for quality of 48ie.Now from me its 3 start because 6 of October I was in Spain Barcelona and I couldn't believe my eyes Roaming was working OMG!!! This is first time for 2 years when 48ie works outside of Ireland. I cannot add more starts because quality of internet is very bad! When I joined to 48ie first year I had speed 45-80Mb/sec I could watch football HD quality now i have 2-10Mb sometimes when weather is bad I have less then 1Mb and I cannot watch anything now. So do something with speed and it will be 4
