Been a tenant for 3 years. This situation has been extremely challenging, unprofessional, and discriminatory. Despite sending numerous emails to the office, particularly to an individual named Olivia Laycock MARLA, the Manager, my Β£2500 deposit has not been returned, and I have been denied a copy of the lease agreement. As a consumer and tenant in the UK, I am entitled to request a copy of the lease agreement and the return of my deposit. I have lodged a complaint with their Complaints Department, but have not received any response. I have made countless phone calls, only to be hung up on. My tenancy agreement ended in October 2024, yet I am being pressured to pay rent until March 2025, despite vacating the property in April 2024 and fulfilling my lease obligations until the end date. I have personally experienced bullying and disrespect, including an incident at their main office involving their main director, Mr. Chan, with Olivia providing cover for him. With no other recourse, I have resorted to legal action to recover my funds. I urge others to steer clear of these individuals, as they exhibit unprofessionalism, rudeness, and discrimination.

An absolute nightmare of an experience

An absolute nightmare of an experience. I would never recommend such unprofessional service to anyone. I was constantly chasing them for updates, as they showed no initiative or effort throughout the process. They confirmed in writing via email that my bid had been accepted and sent instructions for the next steps. I proceeded with AML checks, which I paid for, spoke to a solicitor, took a day off work, and arranged a meeting with a mortgage advisorβ€”only to be told later that someone else had made a higher offer. Of course, a higher bid means a higher commission for them, so they handed it over to the other buyer without hesitation. Even after this, I received no communication from the Crewe agency. I sent several follow-up emails, all of which were ignored. In hindsight, I should have paid attention to their one-star Trustpilot reviews before dealing with them. Please, do yourself a favor and stay away.

Shambles whitegates

Whitegates estate agents Walton Vale unprofessional! I enquired a property to rent ( WALTON VALE LIVERPOOL ) via rightmove approx 2 weeks ago, phoned them up last week in which they took my details and said there should be viewings next week. Double checked Rightmove today and the property has been taken off! What a waste of space, the staff lack communication and customer skills, how they keep in business. If I failed my customer twice my line manager will be asking questions! Over looking a customer once is bad enough, but, a second time after a complaint has been there's something wrong and must be sorted before a third complaint goes in

Ridiculously High Rents

Sorry but where do you get some of the prices of some of your rents from? Looking at images of some of your properties available for rent and I'm shocked. Β£700pcm for a 2 bed terraced house with a room with no flooring, exposed pipes and decor that looks outdated even by 90s standards? We're not talking in a city centre here either we're talking a small town in West Yorkshire. Β£650pcm for a 1 bed house which again, has a room with no floors, white goods that are incredibly stained with tobacco, no wonder young people and families can't afford to move!

Do not use white gates!!

unprofessional towards customers

The invade you with emails to set appointment for inspections in regards house or gas, etc but when you need their services they just make up excuses. If a contractor is unable to do the work just find another one. I guess landlord won't accept not taking his rent this month if I am still awaiting for someone to come over and fix the issue. People working there are not professional and instead of finding solutions just making up excuses ,

The staff were great.

The staff , especially Amanda Byrne at Whitegates Huyton (plus Josh and Joel) were very helpful explaining everything I needed to know plus keeping me informed of what was happening next in regards to my sale. It wasn’t the easiest experience at some points due to other issues but they reassured me as best they could. Many thanks.

Whitegates sh*ttest company in the market, happily leave a 1 year old in a house with mould and leaking on most walls. Will not give deposit back etc avoid at cost. Will be taking you to court

WHITEGATES ARE NOT INTERESTED IN LETTING PROPERTIES.

GOT IN TOUCH WITH WHITEGATES WITH REGARDS LETTING A PROPERTY THAT I OWN WITH A VIEW OF LETTING IT OUT FULLY MANGED BY THEM. GOT A E-MAIL REPLY ASKING ME SOME QUESTIONS, I ANSWERED THE QUESTIONS, I RECEIVED AN "AUTOMATIC REPLY" SAYING THAT THE PERSON IN QUESTION WAS AWAY FROM THE OFFICE, AND WOULD GET BACK ON MONDAY, NO REPLY WAS EVER MADE, SO WITH THAT IN MIND I DECIDED I WOULD NOT GO ANY FURTHER WITH THIS COMPANY, IF THAT WAS THE MEASURE OF THEIR INTEREST.

I have just bought my 1st house with whitegates estate agents and all the team have been amazing so supportive and Kim kept me sane and less stressed with all her help much was much appreciated. Always there to get in touch when you needed it. I'll be forever grateful and lovely to see Kim again after all these years. Thanks again Beth ☺

Dishonest law breaking, avoid at all costs

I don't know where to start... The Huddersfield branch sent contractors to my flat with keys, who then searched my bedroom without my knowledge or permission. They gave my number to other contractors who messaged me late at night. The staff have offered no apology for my distress at these violations of my privacy. I've referred this incident to the Property Ombudsman. Now they're refusing to give back my deposit. Despite multiple emails and an application through the deposit protection scheme I am still waiting for a response to my request for my deposit to be returned a month later. They've said they're waiting for a quote for the cleaning of one small drawer and one small cupboard, and refused to let me return to clean these little areas I missed. I've lost money and time getting a statutory declaration signed by a solicitor and chasing emails. It looks like it will probably have to go to court in the end. Total nightmare. Update November: I had to pay for and submit a witnessed statutory declaration by 'Royal Mail Special Delivery' because they missed the deposit deadline with the Deposit Protection Scheme, which they now refuse to reimburse. Whitegates in Huddersfield are also slowing down the process with the Ombudsman. The nightmare goes on. Please avoid this company!

sadly I can't put less than 1 star, their customer service is just bad, shouting at me when I was trying to explain to them the situation. very poor respect for time and no consideration for the fact that others have jobs and attachments to take care of. very bad experience, with them, will avoid in the future
