Travelled with RSD to Nepal in June

Travelled with RSD to Nepal in June. Very good holiday, saw lots of interesting places, guide was superb and hotels were of a good standard. I would recommend the RSD holiday to Nepal

Cultural trip to Sri Lanka

I have travelled with RSD a few times and have never had a bad experience. An excellent way of seeing a country at an affordable price.

Fantastically beautiful country with lovely people

Went to Sri Lanka with RSD - fantastic countryside, amazing friendly people, good hotels and an amazing journey around the country in all its guises - one of the best trips of my life (I travel 10 mths a year) - why so good - people, no hassles of any kind going out, low cost economy, wonderful weather - an absolute gem of a holiday full of variety with something for everyone.

An Absolutely Fantastic Trip To The Balkans!

We had a wonderful holiday seeing so many UNESCO sites in Kosova, North Macedonia, Montenegro & Albania. Except for the last one, which was a little bit "Soviet era", the hotels were lovely with excellent food, very comfortable indeed. Our Turkish guide Gdoikca went above & beyond to help all passengers on her coach, even rescuing a hearing aid, which had fallen out in Cafe Mozart in Budva, Montenegro & organising for someone to drive it to our hotel at least 2 hours away so we had it before the coach left next morning.

Top quality trip to Dubai

We booked an 8-day trip to Dubai with RSD. From the start to finish it was an extremely enjoyable experience. The flights were with Emirates and could not be faulted. The two hotels we stayed in were top quality, with great facilities. The basic package included sightseeing tours, and we opted for the optional extra trips which were well worth the additional charge and very much added to our overall experience. We were accompanied by a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide who provided a fund of information about the local culture and the places we visited. This was our first trip with RSD and are already planning our next as this one was such extremely good value.

Take heed of bad reviews

My wife and I were attracted by an advert placed in the Rotary Magazine by RSD Travel Co Ltd for an 8-day holiday in Northern Cyprus. When booking I was strongly urged to add the "gourmet meal" package £139 pp because it was claimed there are no cafes or restaurants near the hotel. After having paid the whole cost well in advance of our trip, a friend advised us to find out more about this tour operator on the internet. We were horrified to find the high proportion of complaints that had been lodged, many describing their nightmare experiences. As my wife and I are elderly, we had no wish to go on holiday for an endurance test. Therefore, we were left with no choice but to cancel. Due to the onerous terms for cancellation imposed by RSD, we were aggrieved when they forced us to forfeit 50% of the total cost of our holiday. This was even though we gave 54 days notice before the start of the holiday. They wouldn't budge, however, despite our protests. It is clear from the volume of adverse criticism online and their punitive cancellation terms that holidaymakers should steer well clear of RSD Travel Co Ltd.

Be aware of reduced ‘Duty Free’ allowances for Greece

We have just returned from a trip to Rhodes which comprises of a catamaran trip to Turkey for a few days. The trip was enjoyable but was spoiled on our return to Turkey. On the coach on the way to the catamaran our guide Gulcin said several times if we wanted to buy any duty free we should visit the shop at the Turkey side as there isn’t one at the Greek end. My wife and I bought a pack of 250g of tobacco each to take home for our son. When we arrives at Rhodes I was detained by customs an made to wait till everyone else had gone through and then taken to an office to be interviewed, fined €59 and subjected to a lecture before being released to the coach which I had delayed causing much embarrassment. Apparently the duty free allowance for entry to Greece by land or sea is reduced to a mere 50g of tobacco or 40 cigarettes. I know many other people also unwittingly bought excess tobacco but fortunately most people put their goods in their luggage so got away without being stopped. Unfortunately I carried mine through in plain sight in a duty free bag, making it obvious I was carrying ‘contraband’! After the incident I did some research. Apparently the duty free allowance for Greece if the border crossing is by land or sea is reduced to a mere 50g of tobacco or 40 cigarettes each although it is the usual 250g or 200 cigarettes if the entry is made by air. As the shop only sells tobacco in packs of 250g it would take a party of 5 to legally bring one through! If the guide Gulcin hadn’t suggested using the Turkish duty free shop I would have just bought the tobacco at the airport which would have avoided the issue. I emailed RSD to request that they simply tell the guides to mention the reduced limits for tobacco and to specifically mention it in the pre holiday information to avoid this happening to anyone else. They simply said it’s the customers responsibility to check these things before travelling. I feel really disappointed by RSD by their attitude to this avoidable situation and am sure others will become victims to this if it’s not made clear but they really do not care.

Fabulous and incredible 8 days tour and 7 days relaxing in a beach hotel

I have been wanting to take a RSD Tour for many years. Now retired able to do this. We have just completed the 15 day tour of Rhodes and Aegean Coast. I was only able to confirm charter flight 24 hours before departure at Gatwick airport departure board. I paid £250 each and £45 each to fly from Gatwick in Feb 25. I paid £139 each for a buffet evening meal as breakfast included in the £250. Whilst on the tour paid £268 each to be all inclusive for the free 7 days. We stayed at the Rodos Palace hotel in Rhodes. Also gave Tour Guide €25 each tip for 8 days. And the two Drivers in Turkey and Rhodes €10 each from both of us. Whilst in Turkey for 3 nights gave Driver €5 each for unlimited water. You can add this up to see how the costs pile up. The flight was pleasant with a free snack and on arriving in Turkey divided into 3 coach groups. The 3 coaches packed. We where taken to our first hotel which was lovely. We then spent 2 days sightseeing in Rhodes. Due to bad weather unable to get to Turkey on the ferry so spent a night in a new hotel which again was lovely. Once in Turkey stayed in 4 hotels which where all lovely with excellent food. The daily tours where fabulous and as described in the literature. The first week tours both in Rhodes and Turkey where well organised and our Tour Guide Tolga for the 7 days and a female tour Guide for 2 days in Rhodes where excellent and very informative. We where well looked after and kept updated at all times. I was prepared for the visits to the Carpet warehouse, Leather warehouse and Jewellery Warehouse. I told the Sales Men to leave me and my Husband alone as wasting their time as we had no intentions of buying anything. Must admit enjoyed the visits as given drinks at all 3 places and had a fashion show of leather coats and the Carpet Sales Men can make carpets fly. The Jewellery warehouse has a gift shop full of junk and here you can buy gifts and things at reasonable price. I forgot to barter when l paid €11 for 2 items. Must mention in Turkey used Euros and did not carry any Turkish money. The duty free shop in Rhodes and Turkey excellent value. The Tour Guide took us to a Farm Restaurant for lunch at €12 a person.l did not eat there as worried about food hygiene. My Husband said food poor quality and most people did not finish and drinks rather expensive. On arriving at our final hotel for 7 nights all inclusive found out that Tour Guides failed to tell us that Hotel taking card details in case of damage in the room. Also all inclusive we are limited to only soft drinks, tea, coffee, ouzo, brandy, beer. Bottle water at some bars was been charged. Had l known this would have gone half board as l drink Gin and my Husband whisky. At the meeting with the Tour Guide the day after check-in there was up roar about this and the Guide told us to put in a email complaint. RSD also had for sale 2 excursions available at €65each trip per person. My Husband and l declined as needed the rest. Another additional cost is at check in at the hotels in Rhodes you pay tax of €4 per night per room but no hotel tax in Turkey. Also you pay €2 per person tax to get on the ferry in Rhodes. On the whole l have had a fabulous experience over the last 15 days and glad l did not listen to the negative reviews. What you see on the tours is incredible and mind blowing and the week all inclusive at the Rodes Palace hotel so relaxing. The average age of people on the Tour is 65 and one needs to have good mobility and be flexible enough to move from hotel to hotel daily. Please check weather before packing as sadly l packed clothes for warm weather and it was freezing for the first week. Thank you RSD. My advice is there is no such thing as a free meal Met and socialised with lovely interesting people. Many looked out for me and my Husband and l want to say a big thank you to all on Coach 108 and hope we meet on another RSD Holiday

India and the RSD Travel Experience

This verges on two stars, but I've given RSD the benefit of the doubt. Starting with the positives: The courier Reiss had a through knowledge of his subject. He also immediately addressed issues and concerns. We learned so much about India, its history and its culture. That said, there are a number of negatives: 1. There is a significant amount of time spent on a bus (I hesitate to call it a coach. No loo and basic) 2. Because of the itinerary, you are living out of a suitcase all the time and have no downtime 3. I will never touch a chicken curry again. It was a constant feature of the diet. I've never had a curried omelette for breakfast before, and never will again 4. In Delhi and the northern circuit of the trip, the bedrooms were very cold. There was little or no heating and in one venue we were told "It is not necessary". We thought it was. I acknowledge that this was a cultural tour and we knew in advance what the itinerary was. The highlights of the trip (to us) were the Amber Fort and the Taj Mahal. That said, there was a "sameness" about some of the venues. In the words of one of the group "I'm forted out". In our view, there are only so many palaces and forts you can see before they become repetitive and lose their magic. This is clearly not a criticism of RSD, but the smog and pollution is ever present, to the extent you can taste it. The class divide is significant and the poverty endemic. Be prepared for a culture shock. That said, the poorest of the poor will still smile and wave as you go by. A lesson to us all in my view. We both contracted a nasty stomach bug (and no we didn't try the street food). My wife needed a doctor. We were not alone with this problem on the trip. This is not ideal when you have to travel long distances on a coach with no loo. Would we travel with RSD again? Most probably not. They do their best, but I think the business model doesn't work, at least for us. The offering is comparatively inexpensive, but in my opinion, it shows.

I have my reservation regarding their…

I have my reservation regarding their inability to take credit card payment. I have booked a trip with RSD travel, and everything seemed OK. However, they don't seem to be able to take credit card. I have given them 4 different credit card details, but they could not take the payment. I have no problems paying any other companies with any of my credit cards, so I am no too sure what will happen. They have asked me to pay by bank transfer every time a card was declined (as they say, but I have never had any issues whatsoever with my credit cards anywhere else). I don't want to pay by bank transfer for anything I have not received, as there isn't any protection. Does anyone else have this problem with RSD travel? Can be quite frustrating from time to time.

Let down

6-20 November. 1st week, trips to Croatia, Bosnia & Montenegro, well organised, with helpful coach driver and great guide (Rosie). Hotels were good, particularly in Croatia. 2nd week was a different matter though and somewhat spoiled the experience. Hotel Carine Kumbor was clean, tidy, with lovely large rooms & helpful staff. It was too cold to use outdoor pool (mid-November), which was later drained, but indoor pool was tiny and cold. We were advised to 'upgrade' to all inclusive, as hotel was isolated, with darkness & cold falling about 4.30pm. We 'upgraded', but regretted this. The restaurant was very poor - not enough indoor, warm seating with overflow in a 'conservatory' style, very cool & poorly lit room. The food was repetitive, tasteless 'slop', and supposedly hot dishes, were tepid (major health incident wating to explode?!). Dining was 6pm to 8pm, but we were evicted at 8pm, even if we hadn't found a table and collected food until 7.45pm! The A.I. drinks package was poor, 1 beer, wine, & 4 local spirits, tea, coffee and soft drinks available to us, at only one bar, accessed by exiting the building, going in through the dark, cold conservatory, to the rear of the restaurant. Indoor seating was totally inadequate (too cold & dark outside), with guests chastised for bringing additional seats indoors, and made to return these to outside. These issues changed what could have been a 4* hotel to a 2*- 3* at best

Interesting, Hectic and Varied. Great value trips in Croatia and Montenegro

Great value for money good organised trips for those like to discover, and like to have fun. Very Nice to see many places during the first week. We had a very knowledgeable, gentleman, friendly tour leader Emre. He was very patient and professional. It was unforgettable moment to get know his family In Montenegro, he Introduced us. Always a great section of food too, mainly rich buffet. Due to low season dates, we definitely recommend the All Inclusive option too. Our hotel for second relaxation week was CARINE K. in Montenegro, very nice hotel Thank you RSD UK and all who made it such great.
