I wouldn’t recommend this centre in…

I wouldn’t recommend this centre in Stockley Park for families with children or for anyone considering buying a membership for family use. The soft play area has been broken for several months now, and unfortunately, there are no plans to repair it. There are also very few classes available for children, which is quite disappointing. Additionally, facilities like the sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi are not accessible to anyone under 16, which limits the experience for families. One of the toilet doors has been broken for a long time and still hasn’t been fixed. The cleanliness of the changing rooms is also not up to standard.

Extremely Disappointed

Extremely Disappointed – Unauthorised Payment After Cancellation I cancelled my membership at Nuffield Health Gym Chigwell and received an official confirmation email stating that my final payment would be on 1st July. Despite this, they still charged my account after the cancellation date. This is completely unacceptable and feels like unauthorised billing. I now have to go through the hassle of disputing the payment and trying to get my money back – even though I have clear written confirmation that my membership had ended. If this is how they handle cancellations, I would strongly advise others to think twice before joining. A gym should be professional and trustworthy, not take money from ex-members without permission. Extremely disappointed with how this has been handled.

Aaron Fowle is my PT and he’s fantastic - I had been coming to this gym for 3 years and love all the classes and the instructors. I switched to PT when zi decided to do hyrox and saw a lot of change in muscular mass and energy levels. Aaron is a real asset to Nuffield and fitness in general 💪

When will Nuffiled Management actually pay attention to its members????

As a member of Nuffiled for several years I am sad to say that the quality of the facilities and overall offering has deteriorated significantly post covid. No towels any more, jacuzzi closed and swimming pool timetable restrictions as if it’s a free community pool. Meanwhile member fees have continued to increase as the beauty and spa area has closed, Creche opening times have been cut back significantly and most of the showers in the ladies changing room no longer work. Corporate greed and profiteering at its finest. Feedback and complaints fall on deaf ears. What a shame and disappointment.

As someone who has been a member of…

As someone who has been a member of this gym for years and paid thousands over these years, I will be cancelling my direct debit. Not worth my hard earned money for a gym that has no air con and quite frankly how their staff have to work in this condition is beyond me! You charge hundreds of people every month a pretty penny but can’t upkeep it. Sort it out.

Big thank you!

I want to say a big thank you to Emma at Hendon for being such a fantastic swimming instructor for my son, who has special educational needs. From the very first lesson, she created a calm, supportive, and encouraging environment where my son felt safe and confident in the water. It means so much to find an instructor who truly sees the child, not just the challenge. We’re so grateful to have found Emma.

ANOTHER LIVID CUSTOMER BADLY TREATED

I emailed my local gym at the beginning of June to say I wanted to cancel my membership (hadn't been since before COVID so was wasting my money). I also cancelled my direct debit. They told me I had to pay another month, but would I like to visit them to see if I could get back into training, which I thought was a nice gesture. I accepted by email and said I would at the same time pay for the extra month. No response, apart from the General Manager saying I owed money. I emailed again - no response, and have sent 2 paper letters - no response apart from a letter saying they hadn't heard from me. I had signed a membership price for life a few years ago, but they also managed to increase this earlier this year. They have now set a debt recovery company on to me, and I am LIVID. I see from the reviews that they respond to One Star reviews, so lets try this way. I am trying to keep my cool writing this - it has been so stressful.

Another Long-Time Member, Also Deeply Let Down

My husband, daughter, and I have been members at Nuffield for over 3 years however we have recently relocated and the commute to and from the gym is too costly in time and fuel, which is making our membership unjustifiable and unaffordable to us. We spoke with a Team Member at the gym in Milton Keynes about this at the end of June and she passed on an email address, advising we would just need to send an email at our leisure. We therefore gave our notice on 6th July, however we were told we'd need to give one full month's notice and therefore need to pay for a further 8 weeks until the end of August 2025. While it's been explained to us that the terms and conditions ask for a month's notice, we're frustrated that 25 days notice isn't deemed enough considering we informed a Team Member within the notice period. We're struggling to accept that Nuffield Health really require 8 full weeks notice. Their own website highlights that being more than just 5 miles away from a Nuffield gym is reasonable grounds for terminating membership. Nuffield Management, however, have shown no empathy or understanding and we certainly don't feel like 'valued' members. Our monthly cost has increased on numerous occasions despite the actual output decreasing (jacuzzis permanently switched off, machines broken, leaking ceilings, rundown changing facilities). We really enjoyed Nuffield when we joined but their 'customer service' has been increasingly absent leaving us really disappointed in our experience.

On the 25th of june i sent an email to the xray and mri with my filled out form requesting my images. How is it possible that we are in mid july and i have not at all received anything? My consultation with the consultant was there and he had the mri scans. Very poor service. I went last year to Cleveland clinic and they gave them to me after 24 hours. I spoke to Heidi, director and i hope i receive my mri soon

Good company, just needs some attention

Staff are always friendly in my local gym. However some of the equipment there is quite dated when it comes to cable machines, and so is often out of order. Free weights though, there is a lot of racks and a lot of choices. The pool is also good, but the roof tiles in the changing room showers are brown and need replacing. Yeovil Branch.

DEVIOUS ,DISHONEST PRICING.

I was given a guide price of £4800 for upper And lower eye blepharoplasty which INCLUDED SURGEONS FEE. After I had the initial consultation with surgeon I was then given a quote of £6100 for upper eyes only ,I complained about the disparency in pricing structure only to be advised the guide price did not include surgeons fee,but it is clearly written on my original guide price that it does. I have complained to no avail and on deaf ears, the hospital refuse to accept my original quote includes surgeons fee even though it clearly states this, plus the fact that it's half the original amount of work. I have refused to pay the surgeons consultation fee of £260 as I would not have proceeded with that if I had been correctly informed initially,I have insisted the hospital pay otherwise take me to court. I went to signature clinic for procedure that was three times cheaper and a top level of service and care. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
