Beware!! I was looking to replace my water softener with Reverse Osmosis. When I did a search, Leaf Home Water popped up. Salesperson came to house and talked me out of getting RO. Raved about their system that it was incredibly better than RO and other claims of less maintenance. After a month, I called and complained that after showers, it still did not feel like my other softeners and my skin was dry. Technician came and “tweaked” it. I’ve had the system now for 2 1/2 months, Still the same. A separate plumbing professional inspected and tested. In short, I paid a crap ton of money for an average softener that was installed with cheap fittings. I’m in process of filing a claim. Feel stupid and like I got sucked in big time. But will see how well they handle customer satisfaction. To be continued.
Location: Brampton, Ontario Company- Leaf home water solutions- Operating out of United sates but servicing Canada remotely with local teams I am writing to file a serious complaint against Leaf Home Water Solutions, LLC regarding unethical sales practices, misrepresentation, and an attempted exploitation of my consumer rights. Approximately one week ago, I had a water filtration and softener system installed by Leaf Home Water Solutions. I am still within the statutory cooling-off period, during which consumers are legally entitled to reconsider and cancel their purchase. Sales Tactics and Misrepresentation Initially, the company representatives refused to provide pricing information over the phone and insisted on a home visit. During the visit, they conducted a basic water test and confirmed that the water quality in my home was not problematic. Despite this, they aggressively pushed their product using high-pressure sales tactics. The original quote given was over $10,000, which I immediately declined. They continued their persuasion until they offered a “special deal” at $5,260 + HST. I was told this discounted rate was only available if I agreed to have the system installed that same day, which I now realize was a manipulative tactic to rush my decision. Lack of Transparency and Consent I made it clear that I did not want the water to taste heavily of charcoal, nor did I want a significant increase in pH levels. I was assured by the area manager, Steve, that the system had customizable settings and that any adjustments could be easily made. He also verbally committed that, should I choose to cancel, the removal fee would be no more than $300–$400 CAD for plumbing charges. What followed was extremely concerning. Within two hours, six different workers arrived at my home unannounced to install the system. No documentation, contract, or explanation of the financing procedure was provided beforehand. My driver’s license details were taken under the guise of a credit check, and I was set up for third-party financing without full disclosure or consent. Post-Installation Issues I was told the system would take 48 hours to start functioning properly. Once active, the water immediately developed an unpleasant taste. I requested a follow-up test, which showed the water pH had drastically increased from 7.5 to 9.5—a clear violation of the terms we discussed. Attempts to contact the area manager, Steve, were ignored. After calling customer service 5 times over 4 days, I finally heard back from a local representative who now stated that removal of the system would cost $1,800 + tax, a drastic and unexplained increase from the original verbal agreement. When I pushed back, citing the verbal promise of $300–$400 and that I was within my cooling-off period, they claimed the $1,800 was for labor, and that they would only cancel my financing after deducting this amount—again, without any written breakdown or justification. Market Comparison and Conclusion For reference, similar systems are available in the market for $2,500–$3,000 CAD with 10-year warranties. I feel deliberately misled and pressured into a transaction that was neither transparent nor fairly executed. This conduct constitutes consumer fraud, deceptive sales practices, and unethical business behavior. I have documented all communications, including text messages, call logs, and voice recordings, and am prepared to escalate this matter to Consumer Protection Ontario, the Better Business Bureau, and if necessary, legal counsel. I urge others not to trust this company. Their sales practices are deceptive, their customer service unresponsive, and their business model appears designed to trap consumers into overpriced contracts with hidden penalties.
Mike the service tech showed up took a look at my system Siad no problem a few hours later he plumbed up a beautiful set of pipes then explained how everything works told what I needed to do packed up and off to the next one so far our water went from not even the dog would drink it to now she won't drink bottle water great system great people to work with
Had several companies out and this one was by far the least pushy. They were straight to the point and gave a great price compare to the other companies. They installed the same day and the installation techs, Spencer and Ryan were amazing. Spencer knows his stuff while Ryan ensured the place was spotless afterwards! As a general contractor I am super picky on people working in and on my house but Leaf crushed it!!!
Lindsy did a great job explaining the system, seems to like her job because she’s very passionate about the system.
Randy Marasco gave us a thorough and detailed presentation of the Leaf Home water filters, including demonstrating their effectiveness. the best I’ve experienced in my 49 years of home ownership. In doing so, the filters sold themselves. Randy was able to arrange for installation that afternoon and evening, told us about maintenance, and even hauled off our old filtering system. Both he and Carlos, the installer, went out of their way to place it where we wished, clean up the area, and give us the manuals and information booklets. It was a pleasure having them in our home, and we are loving the filtering systems. An excellent experience!
Chris Beach was very polite and professional. Hard worker and quick. I would highly recommend him.
Randy Marasco knows the product he is selling. I knew first hand that I wanted clean water, but Randy got me off the fence to buy this system.
We were eager to find out what was in our water. Lindsy was sent to my home, she arrived on time and was very professional. She was incredibly thorough in explaining my options to have better quality and safer water for my family. Installation was the next day, which when you are made aware of what's in your water you want the concerns resolved as soon as possible. We very much appreciated she wasn't high pressure sales and wasn't trying to sell us things that weren't needed to achieve what we needed for our home.
Our Sales Rep, Lindsey Cleveland Office, was very knowledgeable about our water issues. She was honest about our problems with no pushy sales tactics. I appreciate her help and I am excited to have an upgrade to our water system. Thank you. B Stanton
Paul East is a very knowledgeable and conscientous Service Representative. Leaf Home Solutions is fortunate to have him. Our impression of the company was elevated after our experience with Paul.
The sales process with Adam was very efficient without any pressure to buy on the spot. Our questions were answered effectively and honestly. The installation by Cam was great! He gave us a heads up call, was on time and did a great job explaining the systems to us after. The cleanup was excellent. I never felt rushed when he answered our specific questions before he left. And the water tastes great!
Destin installed a catalytic carbon filter and an RO system yesterday. He showed up on time, was friendly and completed the job professionally. Water tastes great. He explained everything completely. Very good.
Sales manager Dabbie Lewis was very professional and courteous and answered all my questions. Instaltion was completed in one day by a certified technition Russ lambot. I am very satisfied with the white glove service. I will highly recommend this company.
Wonderful experience with C.J and Patrick! After looking for a year for a whole house system, we decided LeafHomeWaterSolutions was the right choice. Patrick made the installation quick and easy! Thanks for being so professional! Butch and Betsy Badame
Chris came out for our initial visit and water testing. He was thorough and professional and very courteous of giving us space to discuss without feeling pressured on a decision. He worked with us on pricing and military discount as well. Jason was our Installer tech and was very friendly and professional as well as knowledgeable on the system and explained everything to us. We felt this company was honest and transparent on what was needed versus what would be add ons to ensure we got a system in our budget while delivering the service that was needed for our home’s water.
Ryan installed our reverse osmosis and did a great job. He made sure that it was exactly where we wanted it, cleaned up all the trash, and made sure it was working properly before he left. He was also very courteous, answering every question we asked and a few that we didn't.
The salesman, Scott, whom we met with on June 9th told us that the installers who came on June 11th could not remove our old softener but would bring it up from the basement for us. Since my husband and I are both 75, this was important for us. He also indicated that the installers would pipe up the softener as my husband wanted to incorporate a filter we have between it and the well. The installers, Matt (in his late thirties I would guess) and his teenage son, would not bring the old softener up because it still had salt in it, and they had limited materials with them and couldn’t pipe it up as we wanted. Afterwards, when my husband pointed out how easily he could have made the accommodation for the filter, he said he’d misunderstood the request. We were left at the end of it all very frustrated and less than pleased.
From start to finish it was a good experience. Started with our sales rep Brian, who had a late evening appointment for us to allow the appointment time to work with our schedule. Installation was very quickly scheduled, could have been a couple days later had we been available, but Monday was our meeting with Brian, Saturday our installer Mike came and put the system in. The product meeting with Brian we well, we never felt pressured to purchase, he checked our water and went over the problems with it. We had already had a water test done by another company so we pretty much knew what the problems were. He found the same issues. He recommended different products to us and offered us several different payment options to make it work for us. Ultimately it was a no brainer. Mike came to install and he was quick, efficient, and friendly. We had a 3 filter system installed already to help with our water before and he easily worked that system into theirs in a clean looking install. He wrapped installation up in about 3.5 hours and went over everything with me about maintenance and care of the system. He also have some recommendations on upkeep of the system. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend them to anyone looking to get a new water system.
