Extremely Disappointing Experience with…

Extremely Disappointing Experience with JUCY – Safety & Hygiene Concerns Ignored Unfortunately fell far below the standards we expected, especially having had a great experience hiring in the past. From the outset, the vehicle presented multiple serious issues: Rear Suspension: Constant squeaking that made us question the safety and roadworthiness of the van. Black Mould: There were visible mould stains and patches of black mould inside the vehicle. Completely unacceptable in any rental, and downright dangerous for my partner, who has a respiratory condition and is highly sensitive to mould. Rear Doors: Both rear doors were extremely difficult to open, adding to our frustrations. We contacted your after-hours support line on Day 1 and requested a vehicle swap. We were not advised that this was even an option, leaving us stuck with a substandard and potentially unsafe vehicle for the entire trip. When returning the van, we again raised our concerns and were told by your staff that we should be entitled to compensation. We’re still awaiting confirmation on this. They also mentioned that mould stains are to be expected in a vehicles in Cairns. This experience was both disappointing and unacceptable, not just due to the condition of the vehicle, but the lack of support we received during the hire. We sincerely hope JUCY takes this feedback seriously. We will not be hiring from JUCY again unless there is a clear improvement in vehicle maintenance, hygiene, and customer care.

Too stressful to enjoy our holiday

The vehicles available are in a shocking and unsafe condition. We had to change vehicle halfway through our trip and only receives a measly sum in compensation. We have since been charged for an AA call out with a dead battery. The battery had to be replaced two days after this callout. The mechanic, upon seeing the battery, highlighted that this was in fact the wrong battery for the vehicle! Please avoid!

A Near-Death Experience – Do NOT Rent from JUCY

We put our trust in JUCY when we hired a campervan for a winter trip through New Zealand, expecting a roadworthy vehicle that could handle the harsh seasonal conditions. What we got instead was a complete disaster that nearly cost us our lives. From day one, the van proved to be dangerously unfit for the road. We lost control multiple times on straight, de-iced roads — and it wasn’t just us. A local road worker pulled us aside to tell us flat out: this vehicle should never have been on the road. That’s not just disappointing — that’s criminal negligence. The mechanical and structural issues were endless: The roof leaked, soaking our bed and sleeping gear. The hose for draining grey water was broken, leaving us stuck with stagnant waste. The shower was completely non-functional. Worst of all: there was a GAS LEAK. That’s not just an inconvenience — that’s a serious, potentially deadly hazard. This wasn’t just a bad experience. It ruined our trip. We had no choice but to cut it short and return home early after what can only be described as a near-death experience. JUCY’s negligence, lack of maintenance, and disregard for customer safety is unacceptable. Do not trust JUCY with your safety or your holiday. They clearly do not inspect or care for their vehicles properly. This company is an absolute disgrace and should be held accountable before someone actually dies.

Overall avoid!

Pros - Cheapest big company van rental (but you get what you pay for), staff are friendly, with the extra insurance check out and in very easy and quick (in hindsight too quick didn't really tell us how to make the bed etc), they paid for a replacement gasmate bbq when ours broke, you can stand up in the van Cons - very poor build quality and space lay-out. The van is massive but they utilise the space so so poorly. No clothes storage. No bin. Gas BBQ is in a box you have to take out every time (unlike other vans we have rented where its just a pull out draw. Bed is a massive massive faff to make everything. It involves removing a 3 part table and then rearranging loads of cushions before putting a sheet on. Again other vans just utilise the space way way better!

First of all the staff very grumpy and unhelpful. A very long wait to pick up the van, with no apology for it being late. No offer of a drink while we waited. After complaining to the manager he offered a half a day refund. Which i never received. Now getting billed for not leaving clean. We emptied everything at the gas station by the airport!!! We might not be expert campers but we tried to do as they asked. If there was a problem why not tell us when you did the vehicle check?

Worst Car I have ever driven!

Drove worst car ever, geuninely thought it would brake down on the way. The following is what I sent to the feedback team and I received ~$170 back. Never hire a camper with Jucy. "I can not believe that someone has the audacity to hire our that vehicle, let alone at the rate! That van was built in 2003 and had over 400,000kms on it! It would be cheaper to buy that car and the camping equipment than hire it out from you. We spent ~$1000 on that vehicle for a week and based on what we received it was worth ~$400 max. And the fact that you charge insurance on it is basically criminal. You say our liability is up to $5,000, when it would be cheaper for you to buy a new car. If someone were to have any sort of crash in it, they would be doing you a favour, as it is most likely worth more written off, than it would cost to fix it. I doubt they even make spare parts for that vehicle any more. I was expecting a vehicle from 2014-2017 due to your advertisement on interior fit out, not 2003. At no point while booking the did it state that the age of the vehicle would be more that that. As soon as I saw the age of the vehicle I had immediate safety concerns. No one should be hiring out a car that is over 10 years old without making it clear to the driver the age of the vehicle, let alone 20! To add to it, the seat belts don't snap back so if anyone were to have an accident Jucy would be liable. The condition of the vehicle and the no notice is disgraceful and embarrassing. Getting past the age and safety concerns, the vehicle itself was in a horrible condition. Some of the issues were as follows: - There was weird noise coming from back when driving, sounded like a belt is about to snap - Something smelt like it was burning (that shouldnt be) when engine is running - Android auto doesnt connect half the time - Drivers side rear door gets stuck and sometimes autolocks its self - Passenger side rear door gets stuck - Bed doesnt fold out properly - Curtains are missing half there connection studs and are ripped - Engine makes weird rattling noise - Ventilation ducts broken - Drivers side door doesn't stay open - Rain leaks into the vehicle from the roof - Heater doesn't work - Passenger door rattles - Multiple lights blown (Need high beam on to drive at night safely) Jucy needs to remove that car from its fleet and set expectations while booking. Cutting the charge for hire in half (at minimum) should also be on the radar."

Pick up went great

The employee that showed us the vehicle, Vinny (I'm so sorry, I didn't ask the proper spelling and this Is most surely wrong), was extremely helpful and patient, explaining every single feature in detail multiple times (we are slow learners). Especially the automatic drive which is new for us. Also the facility is located in a nice area, close to a supermarket so it's very convenient to go there right after to stock up before starting the trip. And there is not much traffic so you can ease into the new driving style (both automatic and on the lift). Overall everything went great but the highlight was definitely the personal support and assistance we recieved

Mould/damp stink

High mileage car (~380k km) that has a stink of mould/damp that we can't get rid of even with a Repco smelly. Friends could smell it as we pulled up. I don't think there is a panel that isn't dented or scratched. It was cheap, but the above along with the pickup issues I think I'd spend more next time.

They steal money without saying what they are taking them for.

It’s been 10 days since we returned the car and they are still trying to steal money from my card. After we dropped off the car they charged me twice the same day for tolls and that’s borderline ok since they did not say a word about any additional charges at drop-off. But still you’re trying to get more money 10 days after the car has been returned? You guys are nasty.

jucy is so so good.

1. the gas bottle door has been broken from starting. it can not close, because its lock parts was broken. so, I taped it all through my trip. 2. kitchen sink glass cover cannot keep opening. it closes gradually. so, I taped it to wall.
