Our tour was amazing

Our tour was amazing. Houssin our guide was inspiring, passionate about his country and friendly, sensitive to the different personalities in the group. He was approachable and helped with all inquiries, no matter how small. Houssin also facilitated our dinners and different requirements. He developed a real rapport with our group. Local guides were articulate and informative.

Cycle Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand

We had a great tour with 'Seen' our Tour Leader who made everyone feel so welcome. 'Seen' continued this throughout our Trip giving us so much information on all destinations and looking after our welfare. Additionally all the Support Team worked hard to keep us safe, well feed and hydrated always with a smile. So many wonderful memories, good laughs with other Team bike members and new friendships forged. Thank you Intrepid, Dave

Having never been to Turkey previously…

Having never been to Turkey previously and as a first time user of Intrepid, we had an amazing tour. We did the Turkey Encompassed tour which was led by Mali who was so knowledgable, a great tour leader and gave us a fantastic insight into the country. Being in a small group was great and so many highlights, would recommend this tour and Intrepid.

A 25% loss lesson learned!

Wow, I am really disappointed with this company...stealing money from their customers. I think that 25% is a lot to lose when the tour was cancelled. Their excuse is that they had to pay for vendors in those countries. Who the heck is traveling to India now...and who would want to in the near future? I will never deal with them again

“Costa Rica Experience“ trip was amazing + Love Intrepid

The purpose of this review is twofold, to review my last Intrepid Travel trip; and my overall experiences with the company. Starting with the latter, I’ve now used Intrepid for nine (9) trips. Ranging from camping in South Africa, exploring the Balkans or the Colombian jungle, and this particular trip Costa Rica. My experiences have been awesome, both on the trips and also on overall transparency and communication. There’s a reason I would have been on trip #10 this summer (to Ukraine) had it not been cancelled due to Covid. I appreciate their transparency on all trip details, the desire to actually experience the local communities you visit, learn about local culture and give back to charitable organizations. Specific to my most recent trip, which was taken over New Year’s (2019  2020) – I was on the “Costa Rica Experience” which featured time explore a few cities/towns, the beach, and most importantly the natural beauty of the country. Our guide, Marvin, was phenomenal – our group not only learned so much about the various national parks but the country, industry, and him. All my previous guides have been extremely personal, and Marvin was the embodiment of that – all while managing a group of 12 “strangers”. I say that in quotes, because for all my trips, while Day 1 feels a little like the first day of school, soon you’ve made new life-long friends. Sharing new experiences with like-minded travelers is amazing, and continuing those relationships year’s after is great. As for the fundamentals, I’ve never felt in a compromised or unsafe situation while on any trip. The hotel accommodations are exactly what you should expect based on the selection of trip-type (Basic, Original, Comfort), and I’ve enjoyed both the optional and included executions. As for meals, while not everything is included as some other companies may, I really like this – it allows some flexibility but also to try new things. Going to a small village along the Nile River in Egypt for some local food? Yes please! When Covid has subsided, I will be surely re-planning my 10th Intrepid Travel trip – hopefully back to Ukraine and a few surrounding countries.

I can only warn

I can only warn. I think Intrepid is selling fake trips online to make people book and retain their money. This could be systematic fraud. I booked a tour online for 1,200 Euro which isn't peanuts with the information that the "departure is garantued". The borders between Mexico and my country are open now but only four days after my booking I got an email that my trip is cancelled and I get a credit. BUT ALL TRIPS ARE STILL ONLINE to book for several destinations. Be cautious before you book!

Refund

I was booked in on my 6th or 7th Intrepid Trip “Best of America” commencing 26th April. Trip was paid for months earlier. Intrepid cancelled the tour which was totally understandable. Cancellation policy was amended, once again understandable. I sought a refund (having to forego c$1,200 in cancellation fee). This was requested in May. Still waiting. Not a great service. Notwithstanding this, their tours are great, not rushed and you do get to spend a bit of time in each location.

"Unrecoverable"Costs

DON'T BOOK with Intrepid Travel. As everyone has stated, they claim "unrecoverable costs" that cannot be itemized. I booked with Intrepid, thinking that they were a leader in ethical tourism. When in fact, they are complete con artists and frauds. When you call customer service, they claim NOBODY can talk to you about a refund, only about future bookings. They put you on hold until you fall asleep. They also claim that they need your account and routing number to your bank, instead of issuing a direct refund to your credit card. Intrepid Travel cancelled all of their trips, and are forcing consumers to pay for their overhead. I hope they don't survive COVID because they don't deserve to. I made a complaint to BBB which I suggest everyone to do to build up a case against them, and I also signed up for every single law firm that was mentioned on this website. DON'T just sit there and take it. MAKE a complaint and report this scam to BBB: bbb . org .

Croatia sailing - an incredible trip!

A year ago, I went on the 8-day Croatia Sailing trip with Intrepid, and now that I am spending this August in lockdown I have been looking back at past travel pics and reminiscing about how great that trip was. Our skipper Bruno was fantastic - super relaxed and let us just enjoy our holiday but also always made sure we got to ports in time to get a good spot for the boat and that we had an idea of what was available to do on each island. Sailing days were amazing, just relaxing on the deck of the boat and stopping for swimming breaks whenever we wanted. And the islands of Croatia were absolutely incredible - I was unprepared for how beautiful they were, how great the food was and the natural beauty of many of the places we visited. For such a popular summer destination, we went to some really remote places, but also had the opportunity to experience the vibes of some of the more iconic destinations too. It was one of the best trips I have ever been on and would highly recommend it to everyone.

15% non-refundable fee

15% non-refundable fee, what a joke! Major airlines have issued full refunds, yet Intrepid who espouses "ethical" travel can't stay true. Slater & Gordon have a form that can be filled out to take class action - please sign up disgruntled reviewers, thanks.

Why use Intrepid if they don’t refund fully

Having cycled through Cuba with Intrepid (and loved it) I was determined to go with them again and again and again. As the lockdown started I was already planning my next two trips with them but thankfully I didn’t make a booking and now I can see that I was extremely fortunate to not do so. The impression I get from reading recent reviews is that Intrepid provide great holidays but they’re are also a money grabbing bunch of thieves. How dare they “steal” a sum of money from customers who are denied their holiday and describe it as unrecoverable costs! Sadly, this company deserves to fail - there are other similar companies in the UK which apparently provided full refunds post Covid lockdown. I’ll use them instead.

Not great

I travelled with Intrepid once and the experience was mediocre. Our tour guide was really nice but didn't do enough to introduce the country to us. It was also his first time doing that particular tour so a lot of it was new to him. I took a classic tour, not a basix tour and some of the hotels we stayed at were just awful. The local guides were often lackluster. Compared to companies that use private transportation, we spent sooo much time waiting for trains and buses. The only reason I am even giving it a 3 star is because nothing actually went wrong and everything went according to plan. I would travel with intrepid again ONLY if it's the only company offering a particular tour I wanna take, otherwise it will always be at the bottom of my list in the future.

I holidayed I’m cuba last September…

I holidayed Into cuba last September with this company. Can’t fault it really. I do however leave this review after reading how they have treated their customers since the pandemic. I’m so pleased I didn’t book my March holiday with them. If I did they would of charged me 15% and refused a refund. That’s theft, fraud and completely immoral. As such I will never holiday with this company again and will go elsewhere post haste.
