Tech support failure

I have been using iDrive for several years to backup our desktop and laptop PC. I have generally been quite happy with the product until now. Seven weeks ago iDrive started failing during online backup of one particular 256MB file. After many interactions with support they referred it to their "backend team". There has been no progress and not a word. I ping them every week and get the same response. I've had to resort to a local backup which I then copy to Google Drive. I will note that this is about 20X faster than IDrive online backup.

So far I am happy with iDrive.

I have only begun using iDrive. I have used other backup systems which seemed confusing to me so that I was never sure I was doing it correctly. So far, I like iDrive because it has a user-friendly interface for someone not really computer-savvy. I can back up to my external hard drive as well as the cloud, both backups can be accessed readily. I can backup on demand or on a pre-selected schedule. I have not yet tried the restore function. I have not yet made a mirror image of my computer, but to back up all my personal data took about 3 hours. Incremental backups take a few minutes. So far I am happy and have recommended iDrive to two people in my life.

Great Introductory Offer & User Friendly…

I got a great introductory offer and the software is more user friendly than the Acronis package I replaced it with. Understandably, the first full backup took a long time. But the second was completed in just five minutes as only amended or new files were needed.

A good tool!

The price of the service is very affordable and attractive. Backup speed is not very fast and I missed some settings in the tool regarding backup. My backup for example will take more than a few days to finish. I can't configure a way for it to automatically resume where it left off. But it's a good tool.

Installation was easy and interface is…

Installation was easy and interface is simple. Features and options are what you can expect. I have only tested backup up to now, so that I have no comments on syncing. I wish initial backup via physical drive were available for Belgium, because upload is of course rather slow. I had one problem recently, iDrive seemed to be stuck in a loop while creating file list. I stopped after 12 hours, strange since it was only an incremental backup, with some options changed to exclude some files . I stopped everyting, rebooted my PC and next trial was successful. Affordable price, specially for education.

So far so good!

So far so good! The application does what I expect it to do. At times I thought things were going slow but then I checked and my upload speed was maxed out. Sometimes you forget that uploading hundreds of gigabytes will take a while. There is room for improvement. I would like it to be more like some of it competitors in one way. Mainly, live syncing. I would like this to work more like Dropbox in the sense that it constantly monitors and up/downloads changes. And one time it crashed in the middle of a big upload and had to start over. But for a single incident I'm not gonna deduct any points. All in all, good experience so far with ideas for improvement but no real problems.

Bad File syncing experience

Bad File syncing experience. I was lured in by the good reviews and a great deal at the time. But the file syncing doesn't work consistently. Sometimes folders will download fully but other times, when deselected, they'll still stay on the hard drive so at random times I'll see duplicated folders with "Selected Sync Conflict" attached to the folder name. I'm currently trying to get tech support but I'm not hopeful.

My IDrive solution for Picture storage.

My IDrive solution for Picture storage. IDrive has provided me with everything I was looking for. An easy to use backup service for ALL my devices. A large storage capacity (10 TB) for all my pictures that I recently digitized at an affordable price. The rest of the services are a bonus value to my subscription. I'm telling all my friends and family to jump in.

Straightforward purchase and installation …

Purchasing and installing iDrive was straightforward although some more information on set up and options would be useful. I managed to create my first backup easily but it was unclear if scheduled backups would be a further full backup of all files or just new/changed files. It turned out to be the latter, which is exactly what I need

A strong and fully featured cloud backup solution with optional local storage. Also includes backup options for disk image and system image backups which I have not explored yet.
