Tech support failure

I have been using iDrive for several years to backup our desktop and laptop PC. I have generally been quite happy with the product until now. Seven weeks ago iDrive started failing during online backup of one particular 256MB file. After many interactions with support they referred it to their "backend team". There has been no progress and not a word. I ping them every week and get the same response. I've had to resort to a local backup which I then copy to Google Drive. I will note that this is about 20X faster than IDrive online backup.

So far I am happy with iDrive.

I have only begun using iDrive. I have used other backup systems which seemed confusing to me so that I was never sure I was doing it correctly. So far, I like iDrive because it has a user-friendly interface for someone not really computer-savvy. I can back up to my external hard drive as well as the cloud, both backups can be accessed readily. I can backup on demand or on a pre-selected schedule. I have not yet tried the restore function. I have not yet made a mirror image of my computer, but to back up all my personal data took about 3 hours. Incremental backups take a few minutes. So far I am happy and have recommended iDrive to two people in my life.

Great Introductory Offer & User Friendly…

I got a great introductory offer and the software is more user friendly than the Acronis package I replaced it with. Understandably, the first full backup took a long time. But the second was completed in just five minutes as only amended or new files were needed.

The BEST online file storage & backup!

After multiple drive failures, I researched the best backup options. I have used Drive, Dropbox & the Cloud. None of them are as easy to use and diverse as IDrive. Have recommended it to everyone I know!

Good value, easy to use, set and forget backup.

I bought this backup for myself and to try it out for my customer. I found it easy to setup and use. The first backup of my computer over 300GB of photos and documents took over a few days to get it right but then it seems to work well without any interaction. I did have an issue when I updated it to the latest version as it seemed to get stuck redoing the backup. Not sure if this was my PC having files open or not. I closed it and restarted idrive and it seemed to complete OK. I know it doesn't like files on onedrive that are not on my computer and it recommends that all files on OneDrive are also available offline for backup. The pricing is very reasonable. I would like to be able to say where my data gets backed up geographically but not sure if this may be available on business plans.

No warning of account deactivation for not paying.

This lost my respect for using this service. They don't even let you know in advance when your account gets deactivated if you don't pay it. there is no email or countdown before your account suddenly gets deleted. When this happens all your files will get deleted soon after. There is no timeframe after the initial deactivation and so far from now it's been like 5 1/2 days as of Sept 18 2022 2 am pst. I'm waiting for the billing service to hopefully delay the deletion of my files. How does a service not tell you when you could lose all of your backed-up data?!?! One cloud will tell you how long you have and google as well, they'll give you 30 days once the notice shows up. I would get pop-ups of the app reminding me to pay my cloud service, but nothing was said about what happens if I don't pay it, it just tells me to pay. I lost my respect for this because I used it for a year but I had been waiting on starting my job soon and just recently this happened and now I don't know if I already lost everything or not, so all of that year of backing up just gone like that just because they don't tell you how long you can hold off payment maybe because some money issues show up and need a bit of time. I already emailed you guys so I'm just waiting on the billing team to halt my account deletion until I can get my first paycheck. Now another concern is that I'm able to check how much data is used on the cloud from the plan I had on the browser, but what will happen if I finally pay for it?? will it all of a sudden update my available space and show a lot or all has been deleted??? If so will I get a refund for not telling me all my data was lost before paying? I see an issue with refunds so I will point this out in this review if this scenario happens.

I have been using IDrive for some weeks now, and I can say so far I didn't have any issue and everything worked as expected. The mobile app is really useful, as it has an automatic backup functionality.
