Tech support failure

I have been using iDrive for several years to backup our desktop and laptop PC. I have generally been quite happy with the product until now. Seven weeks ago iDrive started failing during online backup of one particular 256MB file. After many interactions with support they referred it to their "backend team". There has been no progress and not a word. I ping them every week and get the same response. I've had to resort to a local backup which I then copy to Google Drive. I will note that this is about 20X faster than IDrive online backup.

So far I am happy with iDrive.

I have only begun using iDrive. I have used other backup systems which seemed confusing to me so that I was never sure I was doing it correctly. So far, I like iDrive because it has a user-friendly interface for someone not really computer-savvy. I can back up to my external hard drive as well as the cloud, both backups can be accessed readily. I can backup on demand or on a pre-selected schedule. I have not yet tried the restore function. I have not yet made a mirror image of my computer, but to back up all my personal data took about 3 hours. Incremental backups take a few minutes. So far I am happy and have recommended iDrive to two people in my life.

Great Introductory Offer & User Friendly…

I got a great introductory offer and the software is more user friendly than the Acronis package I replaced it with. Understandably, the first full backup took a long time. But the second was completed in just five minutes as only amended or new files were needed.

Worth it

I struggled a bit to get it to work but once it was done, oh my ! life saver ! Sooooo worth for the price !

The software is easy to use and it works well

The software is easy to use and configure. The browser-based tool also works well for verifying the integrity of backups. Others have complained about speed, but this is a backup service, I don't expect or need a fast speed.

Perfect backup solution

We've tried a number of backup solutions over the years and after struggling with a NAS server to backup my husbands many Terabytes of photos finally looked for a fast, high capacity cloud option - iDrive was exactly what we needed. The app was easy to setup and configure and with the massive storage capacity perfectly met our needs. I am now confident I have all files on both computers backup up off site in case of any failure.

Unreliable

At first it looks like a reliable backup service. Bought a subscription. Loved it at first. Lots of space at very attractive prices. Nice features. But... You can start uploading 200GB, see the progress, see that all goes well, wait for 8 hours and get a notification that your backup succeeded. Only to find out afterwards that many files were actually not uploaded. This has to do with 'incompatible characters', i.e. certain characters in the names of folders and files that prevent proper upload. Which ones? That's up to you to find out. No info on their site about this. Second, they have a so-called Continuous Data Protection. Syncing at regular intervals through the day. Does not work. You can make any setting you want but it does not function. Only the daily backups are started. Then there is a CleanUp feature. For cleaning up the files on the server. All files that are not on your computer, but are on the server, are deleted from the server. Does not work either. You end up with loads of empty (old) folders on the server. With a backup service you must be sure that your files are save in the cloud when disaster strikes. And that you can restore them from there. With iDrive you simply do not know what happens.

We have used it for a couple of weeks now, and we are so happy for the functionality, the great price and interface in general. Highly recommended

Beware the overuse charge!!!

Beware the overuse charge!!!! Rather than just stopping when you get to your limit as I suspected would happen...Ive just been charged £280 on my £79 a year plan!!! It was really slow backupping, took months so I kinda ignored it as was exceptionally busy...only had used a small percentage of my allowance. then POW!!!! Will be leaving Idrive...not impressed at all.

This is the worst online storage

This is the worst online storage. I entrusted them and uploaded all my life of data. I consolidated all my data from my various thumb drives and hard disk drives. So that I will have a one stop cloud storage. It took bloody 2 months to upload all those files .. Almost a year later, when I completely forgot about their annual subscription payment, they shut down access to my account. So I went to make the payment that I have forgotten. The account was reinstated. But all my files were gone. When I checked with them, they told me that once they suspend my account due to non payment, all my files will be gone!!!!!!!! I am like WT!!!! I spent a year requesting to tehn, explaining to them, begging them to retrieve my data back. Nothing was done. All they did was to assign me a Case ID everytime I call and put me through some stupid service engineer who does not understand my agony. I was with half a mind of launching a legal suit against them... But I think they are not worth it. Trust me. Use Dropbox, OneDrive or Google Drive. IDrive is Sh**

Fairly satisfied, but do have this one issue

I'm fairly satisfied with the backup. It's done automatically and painlessly. My only problem with it is that there are 108 files it can't back up, and I haven't been able to find out which ones or why. I'm sure if I took the time out to dig, I'd find out, but it is a little frustrating not to have the answer readily available.

The software does what it's supposed to…

The software does what it's supposed to do but I find it to be awfully slow when it comes to backups and restores. It also fails to start the requested task multiple times. I've had to completely close and restart the software on several occasions to get it to perform. Like I said, it gets the job done but requires a little too much babysitting.

Una pena de soporte tecnico.

Sinceramente fui con mucha ilusión a probar el iDriveMirror pero tuve problemas desde el primer día. Cada vez que cambiaba la contraseña me daba error y no me dejaba entrar en la bandeja de la aplicación. Tampoco podría reiniciar mi Windows 11 con la aplicación instalada. Se queda eternamente cerrando windows. Envié varios mensajes a soporte pero ni uno solo fue contestado. El soporte sencillamente brilla por su ausencia. Una lastima porque podría haber sido muy buena aplicación pero sin soporte no lo recomiendo.
