Tech support failure

I have been using iDrive for several years to backup our desktop and laptop PC. I have generally been quite happy with the product until now. Seven weeks ago iDrive started failing during online backup of one particular 256MB file. After many interactions with support they referred it to their "backend team". There has been no progress and not a word. I ping them every week and get the same response. I've had to resort to a local backup which I then copy to Google Drive. I will note that this is about 20X faster than IDrive online backup.

So far I am happy with iDrive.

I have only begun using iDrive. I have used other backup systems which seemed confusing to me so that I was never sure I was doing it correctly. So far, I like iDrive because it has a user-friendly interface for someone not really computer-savvy. I can back up to my external hard drive as well as the cloud, both backups can be accessed readily. I can backup on demand or on a pre-selected schedule. I have not yet tried the restore function. I have not yet made a mirror image of my computer, but to back up all my personal data took about 3 hours. Incremental backups take a few minutes. So far I am happy and have recommended iDrive to two people in my life.

Great Introductory Offer & User Friendly…

I got a great introductory offer and the software is more user friendly than the Acronis package I replaced it with. Understandably, the first full backup took a long time. But the second was completed in just five minutes as only amended or new files were needed.

A little challenging to view my backups

While the customer support I received when I purchase Idrive last week was excellent, the interface has been challenging to use. The first attempt to backup my files did not go so well. Now that I have some files backed up as a test, it was difficult to view what I had stored. It took several different attempts to get to view thumbnails of the pictures I uploaded. I wish there was better online documentation.

Very Satisfied

I was a long time Carbonite user with 2 laptops and thought they were charging way too much. I called and asked them if they had any offers I could take advantage of and was told they might offer me 10%. I then decided to try IDrive and was amazed at the simplicity. I can even review or restore the backed up files on my Android phone. AND the introductory price of $3.98 could not be beat. I am extremally satisfied.

After a few months of a no cost plan

After a few months of a no cost plan, I opted to upgrade just a little, I'm not a mega user, so I didn't need much. I made a couple mistakes in getting the account moved over to the new subscription and the online help was Great ! Resolved my issue, guided me down the right path and got my new subscription set up and going and now the backup is working as it should. Before I had failures 100% of the time, now. . all good!

Extra security for my 1000´s of photos

I wanted to add extra security for my 20 years of photography and I landed on IDrive. Easy to start using and quite intuitive and the price I thought was good value for money. It takes a litte while to upload but I am just taking my time, cleaning up and keywording the 1000´s of photos and doing the heavy upload work when I sleep :-) So far so good and hope I never have to down load the IDrive back up :-)

Too slow..

Too slow... too clunky interface. I read some review / advert that looked good for my needs of keeping multiple computers synced, but did not owrk out for me.

Way better than Backblaze

This service provides real time backups for multiple machines AND is truely archival. I can back up external hard drives and not have to connect them every 15 days like I did with Backblaze. Also, I can choose what I want backed up as opposed to absolutely everything. Way better concept.

Easy to use service that is reliable and good value

Service is easy to use, efficient, and good value. It's straightforward to tag the files you wish to backup and easy to restore files. Scheduled backups happen at the correct time and any files failing the backup are identified in the log so you are able to find them. In my case it was because the file extension was too long. I encountered an issue when first signing up for the service (my fault) and an idrive team member got back to me when committed and called me to talked me through fixing the issue.
