Halford takes advantage

My break light fault alarm came on my dashboard. It's a difficult time at the moment and it was an extra problem I didn't need. I saw a Halford Shop and knew they did small jobs so went in to ask if they could change the bulb. They said yes and that it would take 15 mins. I came back 15 mins later and they advised me to change all 4 bulbs, two on each sides, as it was best. I took their advice. It took a further 5 mins. It came to £48.98. I thought it was a lot but presumed the bills bulbs were expensive. They offered me a free MOT (I use my trusted garage so declined) or to take my details and give me £5 off which I took. The bill would be emailed to me so I didn't get to see it there and then. When I saw the bill I couldn't believe the costs - the bulbs were £4.99 for two, so inexpensive ... their labour was £11 PER BULB changed!! No wonder they didn't just want to change the one broken bulb, but 3 more! I know I should have asked the costs and checked, but I didn't expect Halfords to completely take advantage. Won't be using them again!

I made a complaint about halfords since…

I made a complaint about halfords since June 20th 2025 and no one has contacted me like they promised...I bought a dashcam online and arranged for it to be installed via Halford in Catford .Unfortunately the dashcam wasn't compatible with the app and I decided I would like to change dashcam.I arranged an appointment to have the dashcam taken out of my car to be returned and planned to discuss an upgrade.A minute before I arrived my appt.i was told that I cannot return dashcam because it was used.At no point was I advised about this and the manager at catford refused to discuss with me.Ive made several phone calls to customer services who assured me that matter would be Investigated and someone will in touch...no one has..I'm still waiting...as far as I'm concerned Halford is the worst company to deal with when you want query or make a complaint. When they have your money they don't care My case no. is Halfords Customer Services: 26479136 ...I've rang sent emails to no avail...this company is rotten to the core. I will be submitting notes everyday until something is sorted..I will not stop

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years…

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years ago from the edge lane Liverpool Halfords on the ride to work system the person who sold me the bike told me while the bike was being built it’s a bit of a crap bike as it is one of the cheaper models 🤔 they have and was trying to dupe me into buying a seven hundred to a thousand pound bike so he’d get more commission 🤨 on the sale lucky I know sales tactics he also told me I wouldn’t go on any big rides because it was such a rubbish bike 😒 funny that as I ride most weekends the furthest I’ve been from Liverpool upto now on my cheap bike Delamere forest all round Chester and wales not bad for a crap bike 😃 anyway finally the back wheel started grinding as I know a bit of bike maintenance myself it turned out to be the ball bearings in the spindle so called Halfords to see if they have my wheel in stock and was told yes thought great stuff got to the Halfords on edge lane asked about the wheel got told oh no we don’t stock that we do for the expensive bikes but not yours then got told try Quinn’s down the road they sent me to the competitor also by the way they don’t do the wheel I need😞 so had to rely on Amazon to save the day got the wheel I needed fitted it I’m back on the road again 😁 how can a bike shop sell you a bike but not have the parts in stock to fix it ridiculous practice whatever happened to the customer is always right if I what an expensive bike I’ll buy one not get sales bullied into it Halfords you need to send your staff on a training course to learn not to bully customers into buying bike they don’t want or need also learn them to offer advice in a better manner I was very disappointed in the Halfords experience this much 😞🤨🧐😔☹️😟😕😠🤔

Poor online customer service

Poor online customer service. Ordered 4tyres online at well over £1000 and booked a time a week in advance for fitting. I took 1/2 day off work and drove to the fitting centre only to be phoned up when I was just around the corner saying that the tyres were not there and could I come in tomorrow. Do these people think you sit at home waiting for them to be ready? I phoned customer services who then sent me a mail offering a measly £20 e gift card. It’s already cost more than that taking 1/2 day off work and driving to the centre. I e-mailed explaining this but didn’t get a reply, some customer service I must say. I’ll try Kwik Fit in future. Still not had the tyres fitted. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Update, eventually after several phone calls from myself and a week later I managed to talk to someone in customer services that actually did something and took the case up for me resulting in a positive outcome.

I paid over £350 for 4 new tyres to be…

I paid over £350 for 4 new tyres to be fitted by their mobile service. They took the money out of my bank but didn't make the appointment so I'm currently £350 out of pocket, I have spent the weekend panicking I wouldn't get the money back and am now stuck in a slow backwards and forwards email conversation with Customer Service. Still haven't got my money back or the tyres I paid for. Wish I hadn't picked Halfords, very poor service.

An awful experience

I am writing this review to express my utter disappointment with the service I received from Halfords. I cannot stress enough how I would not recommend their services, especially for tire fitting. After two attempts to get my tyres fitted, I am left feeling frustrated and dissatisfied. During my first phone call, I was informed that the tires had arrived but couldn’t be fitted. On my second visit, I was told that the tires Halfords had specifically instructed me to purchase were not suitable for my car. Three days later, I am still without the tires I paid £500 for, and now I face the prospect of either waiting for a refund or paying an additional £400 to have them fitted elsewhere. To make matters worse, I missed two days of work due to their incompetence, which forced me to use my annual leave. The customer service has been appalling; I attempted to contact the branch multiple times and even requested to speak with a manager, but to no avail. I am absolutely disgusted by the lack of professionalism and care shown by Halfords. If you value your time and money, please do yourself a favor and avoid using their services. This experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. And I give 0

Halfords autocentre been 4 times for…

Halfords autocentre been 4 times for them to sort alignment payed twice had 2 x 4 tyres fitted due to been alignment set wrong now I need a 9th tyre due to scrubbed the edge once again do not use this place for alignment every suspension arm / joint is brand new fitted front and rear of the vehicle before coming for alignment aswell

Failed MOT because of Halfords incompetence

I trusted Halfords to change both my car's headlights, a simple job, or so I thought. I paid £44.38 in February for the bulbs and fitting. The technician clearly struggled and spent a long time on one side, I questioned if it was fitted correctly at the time. Turns out I was right to worry. Two months later, my car failed its MOT for: Headlights being different colours, and The beam on one side being completely misaligned. The garage found a clip inside the headlight unit, left there from the botched Halfords job and I had to pay £180+ to fix it properly, including buying new bulbs again because the ones Halfords fitted weren’t even matching! Halfords not only wasted my money, but also compromised my safety and nearly cost me my MOT. The technician clearly lacked training or care, and I’m now out of pocket hundreds of pounds because of this. Avoid Halfords for anything beyond windscreen wash their incompetence cost me dearly.

Genuine customer service

I dropped my son’s bike in with a puncture and got it serviced in Naas Halfords. A young guy Conor looked after us, and it’s the first time in years that I’ve received such genuinely good customer service. Aside from properly servicing the bike, he was friendly, kind and made you feel like you were being looked after. It’s not something that comes across in most retail places anymore but Conor was excellent. Thanks

Dreadful ordering process

Dreadful ordering process. Ordered 27 April. Supposed to arrive in store 4 May. It’s now 10 May and I have no idea if or when the item will arrive. Customer service on the phone can’t reach the store and says it’s on its way from another supplier. Why advertise as in stock then? Cancelled the order. Waste of time and energy!

Very trustworthy, knowledgeable and reliable service!!

Bike assessment recently done by Andy on my hybrid bike that’s been in the shed for a few years and both tyres were flat….tried to buy 2 new inner tubes but they didn’t have them in stock 😩 Very helpful guy behind the counter said just bring your bike in for an assessment and if I’m honest at the time I thought here we go just a way to point out faults to make more money…. How wrong was I!!! Andy called me back after a couple of hours and said he’d managed to pump up the tyres (they were filled with slime) and checked the whole bike over and reported that nothing was required and there was no charge. I couldn’t believe it!! I even tried to give Andy a tip as I felt like I’d taken advantage of their service but he wouldn’t accept it. Highly recommended and will definitely go back again when I need something else 👌
