Halford takes advantage

My break light fault alarm came on my dashboard. It's a difficult time at the moment and it was an extra problem I didn't need. I saw a Halford Shop and knew they did small jobs so went in to ask if they could change the bulb. They said yes and that it would take 15 mins. I came back 15 mins later and they advised me to change all 4 bulbs, two on each sides, as it was best. I took their advice. It took a further 5 mins. It came to £48.98. I thought it was a lot but presumed the bills bulbs were expensive. They offered me a free MOT (I use my trusted garage so declined) or to take my details and give me £5 off which I took. The bill would be emailed to me so I didn't get to see it there and then. When I saw the bill I couldn't believe the costs - the bulbs were £4.99 for two, so inexpensive ... their labour was £11 PER BULB changed!! No wonder they didn't just want to change the one broken bulb, but 3 more! I know I should have asked the costs and checked, but I didn't expect Halfords to completely take advantage. Won't be using them again!

I made a complaint about halfords since…

I made a complaint about halfords since June 20th 2025 and no one has contacted me like they promised...I bought a dashcam online and arranged for it to be installed via Halford in Catford .Unfortunately the dashcam wasn't compatible with the app and I decided I would like to change dashcam.I arranged an appointment to have the dashcam taken out of my car to be returned and planned to discuss an upgrade.A minute before I arrived my appt.i was told that I cannot return dashcam because it was used.At no point was I advised about this and the manager at catford refused to discuss with me.Ive made several phone calls to customer services who assured me that matter would be Investigated and someone will in touch...no one has..I'm still waiting...as far as I'm concerned Halford is the worst company to deal with when you want query or make a complaint. When they have your money they don't care My case no. is Halfords Customer Services: 26479136 ...I've rang sent emails to no avail...this company is rotten to the core. I will be submitting notes everyday until something is sorted..I will not stop

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years…

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years ago from the edge lane Liverpool Halfords on the ride to work system the person who sold me the bike told me while the bike was being built it’s a bit of a crap bike as it is one of the cheaper models 🤔 they have and was trying to dupe me into buying a seven hundred to a thousand pound bike so he’d get more commission 🤨 on the sale lucky I know sales tactics he also told me I wouldn’t go on any big rides because it was such a rubbish bike 😒 funny that as I ride most weekends the furthest I’ve been from Liverpool upto now on my cheap bike Delamere forest all round Chester and wales not bad for a crap bike 😃 anyway finally the back wheel started grinding as I know a bit of bike maintenance myself it turned out to be the ball bearings in the spindle so called Halfords to see if they have my wheel in stock and was told yes thought great stuff got to the Halfords on edge lane asked about the wheel got told oh no we don’t stock that we do for the expensive bikes but not yours then got told try Quinn’s down the road they sent me to the competitor also by the way they don’t do the wheel I need😞 so had to rely on Amazon to save the day got the wheel I needed fitted it I’m back on the road again 😁 how can a bike shop sell you a bike but not have the parts in stock to fix it ridiculous practice whatever happened to the customer is always right if I what an expensive bike I’ll buy one not get sales bullied into it Halfords you need to send your staff on a training course to learn not to bully customers into buying bike they don’t want or need also learn them to offer advice in a better manner I was very disappointed in the Halfords experience this much 😞🤨🧐😔☹️😟😕😠🤔

Amazing service for the 3rd time by Patrick at Kings Lynn

This is the 3rd time we have used halfords at Kings Lynn and have been assisted by Patrick. One time he was off shift and he still went out of his way to help us. Whilst others stand around, Patrick has been so helpful, he helped us to purchase a bike the first time, the second time, he was off shift bit still helped us with getting the right car seat and today, he was around again and helped us with bike information. What an amazing guy, I hope this review gets back to him as he deserves it

Awful Customer Service

Awful Customer Service. Useless AI chatbot wasted my time, and then had to jump through hoops to simply get them to actually start sending out my product. Also didn't bother to tell me about a warehouse delay.

I had pre booked registration plates to be fitted

I had pre booked registration plates to be made and fitted using anti theft screws at Halfords as I have always had good service at the shop and the garage next door. Naz and Brendan were the only two staff working at the Huddersfield branch when I arrived this morning.They were extremely helpful and eager to please. The fitting was a bit fiddly but Brendan was so particular and precise and the finished article, the plates look great! They were also serving customers in between but always stayed polite and helpful with everyone visiting. They really are a credit to Halfords.

Price went up within 3 hours on their website

Went to purchase a box standard Yuasa HSB027 12v car batterry online showing as 98.69 (for which I have a screen shot). 3 hours later gone up to 114.00 gbp. Contacted Halfords to be told, things go up in price. 14.00 gbp is a lot of money to me. No justification of price increase or would they honour my screen shot from their website.

I wouldn't give any stars if that was…

I wouldn't give any stars if that was an option. Halfords Thanet terrible customer service. Bought a battery 4 and half years ago, it came with a five year warranty, taken to garage and had alternator checked the battery is not holding its charge. Went to Halfords to be told the battery was 300 amps out! i don't care if it's 3 amps out it's still under warranty and I want a replacement, then told I should drive it to Whitstable and come back for them to test again! or go and get an independent report from a garage which I've already had done. I have all the original receipt and warranty which I was told I would need to produce if anything happened. It would appear Halfords your warranty is not worth the paperwork it's written on and your staff need to have training on customer service. Avoid Halfords at all costs.

How can

How can a bike shop which sells care plans to its customers not have a bike mechanic and not know if it will ever have a bike mechanic again. The supervisor don’t seem to care at all. There is something very wrong at Halford Brighton! I felt sorry for the few staff who are still trying to offer good service. I recommend choosing to go somewhere else. Feels like end of days here. I’m now riding around on an unsafe bike, hoping they can honour my care plan sometime?!

Quoted for unnecessary work & overpriced

Booked free brake assessment. Garage then quoted for work that wasn’t required and at prices greater than those published on their own website. Essentially, they tried to rip me off for work that wasn’t necessary and by over charging me. Thankfully I went to an independent garage nearby who did the work that was required and at a far cheaper price. Will never trust Halfords again

Avoid at all costs

Terrible customer service. Had my car serviced, when I collected my car it was unlocked, the boot was not closed properly and the wiper didn’t work anymore. I’ve been trying to get this resolved for over 2 weeks, repeatedly told on 4 occasions that someone will call me within 48 hours, told it was escalated to a general manager would call me, and i have had no one contact me. A simple phone call and attempt to resolve the issue is all that is required. Nothing anyone in customer service told me will happen has happened, the issue is still ongoing. Avoid because no one helps when you have a problem and it should not be this difficult

Excellent customer service!

Had a fantastic customer service experience today at the Hedge End store by a friendly and helpful sales assistant called Ben. Our car battery died luckily not far from the store. We went into Halfords to buy a replacement and hoped they might be able to install it for us. However they weren’t allowed as the car was off the property (totally fair enough!). Ben could have just sold us the battery and sent us on our way but instead he talked us through how to change the battery, gave us some tips and even loaned us the tools we would need. We managed to do it ourselves! Very impressed with this level of customer service which is unfortunately a rare find these days! Thanks Ben!
