Halford takes advantage

My break light fault alarm came on my dashboard. It's a difficult time at the moment and it was an extra problem I didn't need. I saw a Halford Shop and knew they did small jobs so went in to ask if they could change the bulb. They said yes and that it would take 15 mins. I came back 15 mins later and they advised me to change all 4 bulbs, two on each sides, as it was best. I took their advice. It took a further 5 mins. It came to £48.98. I thought it was a lot but presumed the bills bulbs were expensive. They offered me a free MOT (I use my trusted garage so declined) or to take my details and give me £5 off which I took. The bill would be emailed to me so I didn't get to see it there and then. When I saw the bill I couldn't believe the costs - the bulbs were £4.99 for two, so inexpensive ... their labour was £11 PER BULB changed!! No wonder they didn't just want to change the one broken bulb, but 3 more! I know I should have asked the costs and checked, but I didn't expect Halfords to completely take advantage. Won't be using them again!

I made a complaint about halfords since…

I made a complaint about halfords since June 20th 2025 and no one has contacted me like they promised...I bought a dashcam online and arranged for it to be installed via Halford in Catford .Unfortunately the dashcam wasn't compatible with the app and I decided I would like to change dashcam.I arranged an appointment to have the dashcam taken out of my car to be returned and planned to discuss an upgrade.A minute before I arrived my appt.i was told that I cannot return dashcam because it was used.At no point was I advised about this and the manager at catford refused to discuss with me.Ive made several phone calls to customer services who assured me that matter would be Investigated and someone will in touch...no one has..I'm still waiting...as far as I'm concerned Halford is the worst company to deal with when you want query or make a complaint. When they have your money they don't care My case no. is Halfords Customer Services: 26479136 ...I've rang sent emails to no avail...this company is rotten to the core. I will be submitting notes everyday until something is sorted..I will not stop

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years…

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years ago from the edge lane Liverpool Halfords on the ride to work system the person who sold me the bike told me while the bike was being built it’s a bit of a crap bike as it is one of the cheaper models 🤔 they have and was trying to dupe me into buying a seven hundred to a thousand pound bike so he’d get more commission 🤨 on the sale lucky I know sales tactics he also told me I wouldn’t go on any big rides because it was such a rubbish bike 😒 funny that as I ride most weekends the furthest I’ve been from Liverpool upto now on my cheap bike Delamere forest all round Chester and wales not bad for a crap bike 😃 anyway finally the back wheel started grinding as I know a bit of bike maintenance myself it turned out to be the ball bearings in the spindle so called Halfords to see if they have my wheel in stock and was told yes thought great stuff got to the Halfords on edge lane asked about the wheel got told oh no we don’t stock that we do for the expensive bikes but not yours then got told try Quinn’s down the road they sent me to the competitor also by the way they don’t do the wheel I need😞 so had to rely on Amazon to save the day got the wheel I needed fitted it I’m back on the road again 😁 how can a bike shop sell you a bike but not have the parts in stock to fix it ridiculous practice whatever happened to the customer is always right if I what an expensive bike I’ll buy one not get sales bullied into it Halfords you need to send your staff on a training course to learn not to bully customers into buying bike they don’t want or need also learn them to offer advice in a better manner I was very disappointed in the Halfords experience this much 😞🤨🧐😔☹️😟😕😠🤔

If I could give a minus score I would

Needed roof bars for car. Website says they fit, box says they fit. Appointment slot on line for 1830 but apparently they can’t fit after 5 due to needing 2 people so planned on a day later only to then be advised they do not fit well enough to be used. After a whole week of incompetence now have to cancel my camping trip

Halfords = Best Scammers of 2025

Worst company I have ever dealt with. I did ordered car battery with fitting for over 300£ few months ago and battery is dead already. When I ask for refund or replacement they said I need to make another order(spend again over 300 pounds) and try request a refund for an previous battery because when you order battery with fitting they don't have procedure in place to easily replace it. This smells like a scam of 2025. Avoid at all cost!

Do not purchase from Halfords

Purchased an online order for a bicycle for my son after visiting a branch to ensure I was picking the right size bike. I received the bike and it was too large for my son to use. Tried in vain to exchange the item (please note, not to return it, but to exchange it) and I keep getting no where. Trying to raise a complaint is near impossible and I’m still trying to speak to someone who can help. Absolute shocking company!

Ordered a bike helmet online for my son…

Ordered a bike helmet online for my son for his bikeability as they do not carry the better helmets in small in stores. Gives you an option for when you can collect in-store. We selected last Thursday having ordered it on the Monday allowing for any issues as we needed it by the following Monday at the latest. We are now on the Wednesday after the latest I needed it and we still have had no notification. I spoke to the customer service last Friday and asked if a manager could call me. She told me a manager was not around but to keep my phone on me as they will. Well surprise surprise no helmet, no message from the store and no call from the manager. My husband then tried to call them on Monday to get an update as I was at work and they refused to talk to him and dropped the call…..disgusting service.

Halfords battery warranty worthless

4 Year battery warranty worthless with Halfords. Three battery tests (Kwik Fit, National Tyre and Halfords) showed the £120 battery needed replacing after just 2 years. However, my battery return failed the 'warranty' condition 'Halfords Test'. That test basically says its your fault the battery has failed due to either - alternator, little use of car, not charging with adequate charger - any excuse not to honor the warranty. Halfords Aggi at Cheltenham as useful as a chocolate tea pot. Not shopping at Halfords in the future.

I have been using Halfords for 50 year

I have been using Halfords for 50 year, now I have a Motability car so no parts but for everything else, great. Today I took my bike in for a service, the usual HAPPY, PLEASANT greetings, and the service was superb. The chap even helped me take the bags off the bike. DAN, is the salesman's name, perfect customer service. However, I have never had bad service from anyone at Aberystwyth, no matter who serves you.

At Yeovil

At Yeovil, Somerset branch I bought a rear wiper blade (£8.49) and paid (£7) for the fitting service as I didn't know how to do it myself. I asked (Tom) the fitter to show me how to do it but he blocked my vision as he did it and didn't even speak to me, so rude!!!! He has no interpersonal skills whatsoever!

Appalling - I will NEVER use Halfords again

Booked a mobile tire fitting for a slow puncture. Technician informed me that the tire just needed a new valve, fitted it and away he went. Came out to the car 2 hours later and the tire was completely flat. Called to have the tire replaced and was bounced around different departments and then told I would be called back. No-one ever called back and my tire was still flat. I then had to purchase a tire pump, pump the tire and drive to Farmer Autocare to have the tire replaced. I was then given a refund but the wrong amount was charged, 5% of the total bill. I then had to call AGAIN to have the refund processed. Genuinely the WORST piece of customer service I've ever experienced.

Ordered a bulky item delivery paid £25…

Ordered a bulky item delivery paid £25 for delivery too, item was due two days ago it hasn’t arrived and hasn’t been dispatched. Useless AI robot that doesn’t understand any questions. When you call they take a long time to investigate and they have no idea why it’s not on time, they said wait 4-5 days for someone to call. Really shocked I thought Halfords would have been good, now looking at reviews I see I’ve made a mistake.

Bidston Halfords

I visited Bidston Halfords this morning and the 2 guys were really helpful. My brake light bulb needed replacing and Liam sorted it out within 10 minutes, explaining everything he was doing at the time. Nothing was too much trouble and a job well done. To go into Halfords can sometimes feel a bit intimidating when you’re a female by yourself but these guys made me feel at ease . Excellent service and a credit to their store thank you
