Halford takes advantage

My break light fault alarm came on my dashboard. It's a difficult time at the moment and it was an extra problem I didn't need. I saw a Halford Shop and knew they did small jobs so went in to ask if they could change the bulb. They said yes and that it would take 15 mins. I came back 15 mins later and they advised me to change all 4 bulbs, two on each sides, as it was best. I took their advice. It took a further 5 mins. It came to £48.98. I thought it was a lot but presumed the bills bulbs were expensive. They offered me a free MOT (I use my trusted garage so declined) or to take my details and give me £5 off which I took. The bill would be emailed to me so I didn't get to see it there and then. When I saw the bill I couldn't believe the costs - the bulbs were £4.99 for two, so inexpensive ... their labour was £11 PER BULB changed!! No wonder they didn't just want to change the one broken bulb, but 3 more! I know I should have asked the costs and checked, but I didn't expect Halfords to completely take advantage. Won't be using them again!

Thank you Conor

We are two elderly ladies, one with a disability, and were in Galway having issues with our hire car, battery and tyres. A young employee called Conor was the MOST helpful, polite and efficient. I can’t tell you how relieved we were and thankful for his kind attention. Thanks Halfords and Conor

I made a complaint about halfords since…

I made a complaint about halfords since June 20th 2025 and no one has contacted me like they promised...I bought a dashcam online and arranged for it to be installed via Halford in Catford .Unfortunately the dashcam wasn't compatible with the app and I decided I would like to change dashcam.I arranged an appointment to have the dashcam taken out of my car to be returned and planned to discuss an upgrade.A minute before I arrived my appt.i was told that I cannot return dashcam because it was used.At no point was I advised about this and the manager at catford refused to discuss with me.Ive made several phone calls to customer services who assured me that matter would be Investigated and someone will in touch...no one has..I'm still waiting...as far as I'm concerned Halford is the worst company to deal with when you want query or make a complaint. When they have your money they don't care My case no. is Halfords Customer Services: 26479136 ...I've rang sent emails to no avail...this company is rotten to the core. I will be submitting notes everyday until something is sorted..I will not stop

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years…

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years ago from the edge lane Liverpool Halfords on the ride to work system the person who sold me the bike told me while the bike was being built it’s a bit of a crap bike as it is one of the cheaper models 🤔 they have and was trying to dupe me into buying a seven hundred to a thousand pound bike so he’d get more commission 🤨 on the sale lucky I know sales tactics he also told me I wouldn’t go on any big rides because it was such a rubbish bike 😒 funny that as I ride most weekends the furthest I’ve been from Liverpool upto now on my cheap bike Delamere forest all round Chester and wales not bad for a crap bike 😃 anyway finally the back wheel started grinding as I know a bit of bike maintenance myself it turned out to be the ball bearings in the spindle so called Halfords to see if they have my wheel in stock and was told yes thought great stuff got to the Halfords on edge lane asked about the wheel got told oh no we don’t stock that we do for the expensive bikes but not yours then got told try Quinn’s down the road they sent me to the competitor also by the way they don’t do the wheel I need😞 so had to rely on Amazon to save the day got the wheel I needed fitted it I’m back on the road again 😁 how can a bike shop sell you a bike but not have the parts in stock to fix it ridiculous practice whatever happened to the customer is always right if I what an expensive bike I’ll buy one not get sales bullied into it Halfords you need to send your staff on a training course to learn not to bully customers into buying bike they don’t want or need also learn them to offer advice in a better manner I was very disappointed in the Halfords experience this much 😞🤨🧐😔☹️😟😕😠🤔

Excellent staff at Redditch

I went to the Redditch store today about a faulty dashcam. I was served by Maddie and she was very knowledgeable about the fault and honest that it needed replacement. As Im not very tech savvy she offered to come and fit it there and then. We ran into problems re the SD card so Joshua came out to assist, he was very thorough with answering my questions and resolved the problem very quickly. Excellent service from two great members of staff

I’m writing this to warn others to stay…

I’m writing this to warn others to stay away from Halfords in Peterborough, especially the garages managed by Stuart and Kez. On 07/04/2025, I brought my car in for a simple oil and filter change. What should have been a routine service turned into a disaster. They broke the oil sump, causing significant damage to my vehicle. At first, they blamed me, claiming it was my fault, but eventually admitted their responsibility. Since then, it’s been seven weeks of lies and delays. They keep telling me they're waiting for a part from Ukraine, which I find hard to believe in 2025 for such a common repair. Meanwhile: • My car is still not repaired. • I've had to hire a car at my own expense. • They haven’t refunded the cost of the original service. • My driveway is covered in oil from the damage they caused. • And worst of all, I’ve been constantly lied to by both Stuart and Kez, who offer no real help or accountability. This experience has been stressful, expensive, and deeply frustrating. I urge anyone considering using Halfords for car repairs or service to think twice and look elsewhere. There is a serious lack of professionalism, responsibility, and customer care at this branch. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

Don't get a bike here

Bike they sold me was completely inappropriate for purpose. It also broke, so I took it back. Only to be told I need to book an appointment online, despite there being 0 customers in there, 5 staff chatting and doing nothing. And me stood there with said bike! Appointments were available 5 hours later! Ridiculous

This is the third time in a few weeks I have had reason to review this awful Halfords on castle boulevard Nottingham. We were treated like crap by Edward who works there. They refused to look at my car despite giving us a time and day to look at our car. A promise from the new so called manager to call us to resolve the situation never happened. This awful company who sent a pre written response never follows up. Avoid this company at all costs.

Click & Collect maybe

Ordered brake parts online on a Friday. Website advised that items would be available to collect from store after 11:00 am Monday. Garage facilities booked for Tuesday based on expected delivery date. Advised to wait for email/SMS before travelling to store for pickup. Used the link in the order confirmation text to track the order - showing 'Locating your item'. No email or SMS received on the Monday so had to cancel the garage facility for the Tuesday. Tracker still showing 'Locating your item' on Tuesday @ 11:00am so telephoned the helpline. Response from the customer services advisor was that she had contacted the store and the items were available but the store would phone me as I had not collected the items the previous day. No phone call, no SMS and no email so I decided to travel to the store. Items collected, no apology for lack of SMS/email/phone call. The tracker is still showing 'Locating your item' 8 hours after collecting the items from store. This will be the last time I use the Hinckley store and possibly all Halford stores. When it is so difficult these days to contact a store directly we rely on tech systems. I have been unable to determine whether the SMS/email is automated or requires someone to press a button ( customer advisor either didn't know or would not tell me)

POOR SERVICE BY STAFF IN KEIGHLEY

I was served at the Keighley branch at about 15:47 by a staff member named Mohammed. He very slowly Approached the till where i was stood waiting to be served. He didn't acknowledge me much and his overall demeanor wasn't professional. Luckily the experience was saved by the store manager Tom who was very friendly and attentive to me. Which is why this has 3 stars and not 1!!

Went to Carrickmines on sunday to get windshield wipers. The teenager working on the till was rude and then my wiper that I paid to be installed went flying on M11. Absolutely shocking service. They used to be friendly and professional. Dunno what happened to this shop.
