Halford takes advantage

My break light fault alarm came on my dashboard. It's a difficult time at the moment and it was an extra problem I didn't need. I saw a Halford Shop and knew they did small jobs so went in to ask if they could change the bulb. They said yes and that it would take 15 mins. I came back 15 mins later and they advised me to change all 4 bulbs, two on each sides, as it was best. I took their advice. It took a further 5 mins. It came to £48.98. I thought it was a lot but presumed the bills bulbs were expensive. They offered me a free MOT (I use my trusted garage so declined) or to take my details and give me £5 off which I took. The bill would be emailed to me so I didn't get to see it there and then. When I saw the bill I couldn't believe the costs - the bulbs were £4.99 for two, so inexpensive ... their labour was £11 PER BULB changed!! No wonder they didn't just want to change the one broken bulb, but 3 more! I know I should have asked the costs and checked, but I didn't expect Halfords to completely take advantage. Won't be using them again!

Thank you Conor

We are two elderly ladies, one with a disability, and were in Galway having issues with our hire car, battery and tyres. A young employee called Conor was the MOST helpful, polite and efficient. I can’t tell you how relieved we were and thankful for his kind attention. Thanks Halfords and Conor

I made a complaint about halfords since…

I made a complaint about halfords since June 20th 2025 and no one has contacted me like they promised...I bought a dashcam online and arranged for it to be installed via Halford in Catford .Unfortunately the dashcam wasn't compatible with the app and I decided I would like to change dashcam.I arranged an appointment to have the dashcam taken out of my car to be returned and planned to discuss an upgrade.A minute before I arrived my appt.i was told that I cannot return dashcam because it was used.At no point was I advised about this and the manager at catford refused to discuss with me.Ive made several phone calls to customer services who assured me that matter would be Investigated and someone will in touch...no one has..I'm still waiting...as far as I'm concerned Halford is the worst company to deal with when you want query or make a complaint. When they have your money they don't care My case no. is Halfords Customer Services: 26479136 ...I've rang sent emails to no avail...this company is rotten to the core. I will be submitting notes everyday until something is sorted..I will not stop

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years…

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years ago from the edge lane Liverpool Halfords on the ride to work system the person who sold me the bike told me while the bike was being built it’s a bit of a crap bike as it is one of the cheaper models 🤔 they have and was trying to dupe me into buying a seven hundred to a thousand pound bike so he’d get more commission 🤨 on the sale lucky I know sales tactics he also told me I wouldn’t go on any big rides because it was such a rubbish bike 😒 funny that as I ride most weekends the furthest I’ve been from Liverpool upto now on my cheap bike Delamere forest all round Chester and wales not bad for a crap bike 😃 anyway finally the back wheel started grinding as I know a bit of bike maintenance myself it turned out to be the ball bearings in the spindle so called Halfords to see if they have my wheel in stock and was told yes thought great stuff got to the Halfords on edge lane asked about the wheel got told oh no we don’t stock that we do for the expensive bikes but not yours then got told try Quinn’s down the road they sent me to the competitor also by the way they don’t do the wheel I need😞 so had to rely on Amazon to save the day got the wheel I needed fitted it I’m back on the road again 😁 how can a bike shop sell you a bike but not have the parts in stock to fix it ridiculous practice whatever happened to the customer is always right if I what an expensive bike I’ll buy one not get sales bullied into it Halfords you need to send your staff on a training course to learn not to bully customers into buying bike they don’t want or need also learn them to offer advice in a better manner I was very disappointed in the Halfords experience this much 😞🤨🧐😔☹️😟😕😠🤔

Twice I’ve been to the Tiverton store…

Twice I’ve been to the Tiverton store this week. After looking online I saw there was a product that I wanted. I couldn’t find it in store so I asked the shop assistants. On both occasions the assistants were very abrupt and rude and dismissive. What I found amusing is the sign on the counter is telling customers not to be rude to staff, does this not work both ways? I was brought up to be polite and to say please and thank you. I do feel that that the staff there should have customer service training! Regards Tony

My Granddaughter bought a Hyper Jet…

My Granddaughter bought a Hyper Jet Fuel 26inch wheel BMX bike in April 2025,unfortunately the rear wheel was damaged shortly after purchasing it,however, even though the bike is still being sold by Halfords on their website you cannot get spare wheels for the bike Update: the bike technician in Halfords Port Talbot was extremely helpful and actually got a spare wheel for the bike.

It would have saved me time if I was asked!

Awful Customer Service

I placed an order for click and collect at my local store the delivery date was 10 days later. The item did not arrive and there was no update. I have called customer service 3 times and have been promised call backs, these didn't happen. Awful service will be using amazon prime in future.

Absolutely appalling customer service

Absolutely appalling customer service! Ordered a bike for my daughters birthday over a month ago £150 taken from my account no sign of the bike after multiple chasing calls with promises to call back and update me on the delivery I get nothing even though this was a next day delivery charge. I am now being told I am getting a refund but yet to see that refund in my account. I have not had a single customer update or call back I have had to chase this on a daily basis which is absolutely unacceptable and am still without the bike and my money,

Don’t trust the Southport store to charge the correct price.

Bought an atlas form Halfords in Southport. Price on the back was £14.99. Lady at till charged me £28.70. When I question this I was told that was the price they charged with no explanation given and no investigation made. Got home and phoned customer services at 2pm. I asked for the store manager to phone me and had to wait until 7pm for that call. I’ve got to take a copy of my receipt to the store to get my refund. I received a disingenuous apology from the manager.

My grandson had a bike for Christmas…

My grandson had a bike for Christmas not long learnt to ride it when the peddle system fell apart . Took the bike to Halfords Llanelli where the service is awful . Guy in the bike department told me and my son he wouldn’t look at it with out an appointment.? We booked the appointment and then he told us it was wear and tear which is rubbish which was absolutely nonsense the bike had a few scratches only after he came out of his mood he was half tidy and we booked it in for the Thursday which was 5 days later On the Thursday we arrived at the shop to be greeted by a guy called Michael who asked do we have an appointment. He didn’t even check the computer to see if we had an appointment. He then went on to say he be called in because a member of staff had gone sick which really wasn’t our problem. He then lectured us to say the bike problem was wear and tear which we disputed . He then said let me educate you what a condescending plonker all we wanted was the bike repaired after a bit of conversation he said it would be fixed under warranty which I might add was our right. Absolutely horrible guy. On collecting the bike a week later was served by another gentleman who couldn’t find the bike then asked for the email details eventually he found it . My daughter in law then had to pay £4 for an admin fee which is totally rubbish system. We then saw the first 2 people we’d spoken with on the previous visit keeping out of the way . Whilst standing around waiting a lady who had brought a mountain bike in was complaining and had called the manager. The service is absolutely appalling at this store . My granddaughter needs a bike in September and there’s no way will I buy it there

Appalling service

Appalling service, £700 worth of roof box and fittings ordered online for home delivery in Oxfordshire, one of the Thule fitting kits did not turn up, I’m now almost a week in, 4 phone calls and I’m not getting anywhere to have this resolved. ‘Back office’ who would deal with such a thing cannot be contacted on the phone apparently, the call centre in South Africa can only message them which so far has been ignored. Appalling service from such a large and well known company, suggests they get a significant amount of complaints and issues raised if this is how customer services is run. Avoid, if we’d known this we would have purchased the products elsewhere, we will not be using the home delivery service again.

Poor stock control

Ordered several items on line for store pick up only to be told the following day before collection that they had no stock and have had to cancel the order. So I ordered the items on line for home delivery. Yet again no stock of the items this time it took several days to be notified. On a positive note, the refund comes through quickly if paid by paypal
