Halford takes advantage

My break light fault alarm came on my dashboard. It's a difficult time at the moment and it was an extra problem I didn't need. I saw a Halford Shop and knew they did small jobs so went in to ask if they could change the bulb. They said yes and that it would take 15 mins. I came back 15 mins later and they advised me to change all 4 bulbs, two on each sides, as it was best. I took their advice. It took a further 5 mins. It came to £48.98. I thought it was a lot but presumed the bills bulbs were expensive. They offered me a free MOT (I use my trusted garage so declined) or to take my details and give me £5 off which I took. The bill would be emailed to me so I didn't get to see it there and then. When I saw the bill I couldn't believe the costs - the bulbs were £4.99 for two, so inexpensive ... their labour was £11 PER BULB changed!! No wonder they didn't just want to change the one broken bulb, but 3 more! I know I should have asked the costs and checked, but I didn't expect Halfords to completely take advantage. Won't be using them again!

Thank you Conor

We are two elderly ladies, one with a disability, and were in Galway having issues with our hire car, battery and tyres. A young employee called Conor was the MOST helpful, polite and efficient. I can’t tell you how relieved we were and thankful for his kind attention. Thanks Halfords and Conor

I made a complaint about halfords since…

I made a complaint about halfords since June 20th 2025 and no one has contacted me like they promised...I bought a dashcam online and arranged for it to be installed via Halford in Catford .Unfortunately the dashcam wasn't compatible with the app and I decided I would like to change dashcam.I arranged an appointment to have the dashcam taken out of my car to be returned and planned to discuss an upgrade.A minute before I arrived my appt.i was told that I cannot return dashcam because it was used.At no point was I advised about this and the manager at catford refused to discuss with me.Ive made several phone calls to customer services who assured me that matter would be Investigated and someone will in touch...no one has..I'm still waiting...as far as I'm concerned Halford is the worst company to deal with when you want query or make a complaint. When they have your money they don't care My case no. is Halfords Customer Services: 26479136 ...I've rang sent emails to no avail...this company is rotten to the core. I will be submitting notes everyday until something is sorted..I will not stop

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years…

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years ago from the edge lane Liverpool Halfords on the ride to work system the person who sold me the bike told me while the bike was being built it’s a bit of a crap bike as it is one of the cheaper models 🤔 they have and was trying to dupe me into buying a seven hundred to a thousand pound bike so he’d get more commission 🤨 on the sale lucky I know sales tactics he also told me I wouldn’t go on any big rides because it was such a rubbish bike 😒 funny that as I ride most weekends the furthest I’ve been from Liverpool upto now on my cheap bike Delamere forest all round Chester and wales not bad for a crap bike 😃 anyway finally the back wheel started grinding as I know a bit of bike maintenance myself it turned out to be the ball bearings in the spindle so called Halfords to see if they have my wheel in stock and was told yes thought great stuff got to the Halfords on edge lane asked about the wheel got told oh no we don’t stock that we do for the expensive bikes but not yours then got told try Quinn’s down the road they sent me to the competitor also by the way they don’t do the wheel I need😞 so had to rely on Amazon to save the day got the wheel I needed fitted it I’m back on the road again 😁 how can a bike shop sell you a bike but not have the parts in stock to fix it ridiculous practice whatever happened to the customer is always right if I what an expensive bike I’ll buy one not get sales bullied into it Halfords you need to send your staff on a training course to learn not to bully customers into buying bike they don’t want or need also learn them to offer advice in a better manner I was very disappointed in the Halfords experience this much 😞🤨🧐😔☹️😟😕😠🤔

If l could give no stars l would.

If l could give no stars l would. I took my car on Thursday 19th June to have its free break pads fitted on the rear of my car as they were covered under warranty for life from a previous purchase. I had my front pads booked in at another garage the following Saturday as Halfords were £50 more expensive ‘. When l left my car at 8.55 l made a point of asking to be rung when the car was ready for collection asap as l needed it for work and the previous 2 times l had been no one had rung. My ‘slot’ was 9am. I ended up being called into work. By 11.25am l has still heard nothing so rung them only to be told they had only just looked at it and hadn’t done anything as required other work which would total £570 not including £140 for front pads. Upon hearing this l told them to leave it and l would get someone to collect it as one of the things they quoted was discs and l knew full well it did not need any as l had already spoken tonot one but two garages previously and was told they did not replacing. I took my car the the other garage as arranged on Saturday where the work required was carried out the front and rear pads were changed and other work done and informed discs did NOT need replacing to a very satisfactory £298. What on earth Halfords are doing l have no idea. I have gone there for years and will now not be returning u have lost yourself a customer my membership will be cancelled Maybe you think lm a woman and thick.

Unprofessional, dismissive rep

I called customer service on 21 June around 15:30 for help with booking an appointment since I couldn’t find any availability. The guy who picked up was just so unprofessional. First off, he was breathing heavily into the mic and sounded like he was talking from bed. Second, the way he spoke just so off! For a sec, made me wonder if I’m speaking to a customer service line or just got accidentally connected to some random number. As for my issue, he had zero intention of helping. He just went silent without saying anything then came back and told me to just contact my local store directly - when I know for a fact this can be handled over the phone because a really helpful rep sorted it out for me before. Also he kept saying “listen, listen” in a really dismissive tone. Just unbelievably unprofessional.

Unprofessional staff and dishonest

I bought two Tyre's to be fitted at home, the van came and brought wrong Tyre's, I explained I had an event next day and need it before 10am. He was on phone to explain they had wrong size and will need it fitted next day by 10am. While the Halfords man was on phone my neighbor called me and said that Halfords van had hit my car in front passenger side. I went to see it and he did hit my bumper, he said he did not even notice as he has bleeper and it did not bleep? I said my neighbor is happy to give CCTV footage. He then apologized and called the insurance company and sorted things out. But this wasted my whole day, as I had to call my insurance company sort courtesy car and sort emails coming from Halford's insurance company. I complained over the phone next day as the correct Tyre's came but at 11. I missed my event (annoyed). Then I went to see if I could complain on line, and found I had wrong charge for my two Tyre's, I had two different invoices in Pounds and two different invoices in Euros? I approached my credit card, but they said they could not do anything as they did provide Tyre's and did refund for incorrect charge. However I would have to complain to them about charging in £ and Euro. I again complained further after a week in writing and by phone. I insisted I get a email and compensation offer. 1. The Halfords staff lied or was not honest he hit my car 2. 4 different invoices two in £ and two in Euros. 3. No apology or any acknowledgement in writing from customer service 4. I wasted 1.5 day trying to sort things out by phone and by email. 5. I was upset missing my event. I will now write to CEO or Head of Complaints department if anyone has direct address or number please pass it on. AS NO REPLY RECEIVED YET.

Extremely Rude and Unprofessional Staff

Extremely Rude and Unprofessional Staff Went to Halfords today after my dad asked them if someone could help check my car's air conditioning. One of the staff told him to bring the car around the corner. He did exactly that and parked behind another car, assuming that’s where they wanted him. Out of nowhere, a staff member named Glenn came over and rudely told him to move back. It wasn’t just the tone – his body language was completely inappropriate and disrespectful. There was absolutely no need to speak or act like that, especially when my dad was just trying to follow their instructions. We came for help, not to be treated like a nuisance. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable and really puts me off ever coming back to this location. Sort your staff’s attitude out, Halfords. Halfords on Winchester road, Southampton

Excellent friendly service

I needed new lights and some sundry items for my car at the Westwood cross and was welcomed by Sam who was more than efficient, he guided me through all the stages of the repairs needed. He offered me options to carry out a series of repairs in plain and simple language that allowed me to make the most efficient use of their services, my time and my wallet. Sam and Luke were both brilliant in fitting and fulfilling as many of the repairs as they could, suggesting alternatives and guiding me to other suppliers who could handle the repairs and parts that they did not have. All in all they made me, someone who is not au fait with car repair, feel confident in my choices. Brilliant service.
