Halford takes advantage

My break light fault alarm came on my dashboard. It's a difficult time at the moment and it was an extra problem I didn't need. I saw a Halford Shop and knew they did small jobs so went in to ask if they could change the bulb. They said yes and that it would take 15 mins. I came back 15 mins later and they advised me to change all 4 bulbs, two on each sides, as it was best. I took their advice. It took a further 5 mins. It came to £48.98. I thought it was a lot but presumed the bills bulbs were expensive. They offered me a free MOT (I use my trusted garage so declined) or to take my details and give me £5 off which I took. The bill would be emailed to me so I didn't get to see it there and then. When I saw the bill I couldn't believe the costs - the bulbs were £4.99 for two, so inexpensive ... their labour was £11 PER BULB changed!! No wonder they didn't just want to change the one broken bulb, but 3 more! I know I should have asked the costs and checked, but I didn't expect Halfords to completely take advantage. Won't be using them again!

I made a complaint about halfords since…

I made a complaint about halfords since June 20th 2025 and no one has contacted me like they promised...I bought a dashcam online and arranged for it to be installed via Halford in Catford .Unfortunately the dashcam wasn't compatible with the app and I decided I would like to change dashcam.I arranged an appointment to have the dashcam taken out of my car to be returned and planned to discuss an upgrade.A minute before I arrived my appt.i was told that I cannot return dashcam because it was used.At no point was I advised about this and the manager at catford refused to discuss with me.Ive made several phone calls to customer services who assured me that matter would be Investigated and someone will in touch...no one has..I'm still waiting...as far as I'm concerned Halford is the worst company to deal with when you want query or make a complaint. When they have your money they don't care My case no. is Halfords Customer Services: 26479136 ...I've rang sent emails to no avail...this company is rotten to the core. I will be submitting notes everyday until something is sorted..I will not stop

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years…

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years ago from the edge lane Liverpool Halfords on the ride to work system the person who sold me the bike told me while the bike was being built it’s a bit of a crap bike as it is one of the cheaper models 🤔 they have and was trying to dupe me into buying a seven hundred to a thousand pound bike so he’d get more commission 🤨 on the sale lucky I know sales tactics he also told me I wouldn’t go on any big rides because it was such a rubbish bike 😒 funny that as I ride most weekends the furthest I’ve been from Liverpool upto now on my cheap bike Delamere forest all round Chester and wales not bad for a crap bike 😃 anyway finally the back wheel started grinding as I know a bit of bike maintenance myself it turned out to be the ball bearings in the spindle so called Halfords to see if they have my wheel in stock and was told yes thought great stuff got to the Halfords on edge lane asked about the wheel got told oh no we don’t stock that we do for the expensive bikes but not yours then got told try Quinn’s down the road they sent me to the competitor also by the way they don’t do the wheel I need😞 so had to rely on Amazon to save the day got the wheel I needed fitted it I’m back on the road again 😁 how can a bike shop sell you a bike but not have the parts in stock to fix it ridiculous practice whatever happened to the customer is always right if I what an expensive bike I’ll buy one not get sales bullied into it Halfords you need to send your staff on a training course to learn not to bully customers into buying bike they don’t want or need also learn them to offer advice in a better manner I was very disappointed in the Halfords experience this much 😞🤨🧐😔☹️😟😕😠🤔

This all started on the 12/06/25 Took my car to Speirsbridge to have my 4 wheel tracking done. Your engineer found an issue lower suspension wishbone arm needed replaced part ordered (or so I was told) rebooked for Sat 14/06/25. 10am I arrived as asked 15 min early. Spoke to a chap (Colored Chap) He had know idea what was happening totally out of his depth completely lost. wandering around with a phone at his ear. We don't have the part. So I left phoned the workshop on the Monday morning. Very nice young lady who was in total control of what's going on She rebooked me in for 19th 06 25 9am Dropped the car off as advised 8.45am spoke to this young lady and she said I'd get a call when the car was ready 3 to 4 hours. I tried calling no answer, tried calling again 4pm only to be told it's not ready they would call me, They never did. 24 hours after I'd left my car I got a call to say it was ready I don't know much about your business but I do know about managing staff, The lady at reception was a credit to this workshop. After watching her I believe she would make a better manager than the one you have. If there's an issue "tell the customer" don't leave us in the dark. I made 5 visits to the workshop when it should have been 2 1 to drop off the car and 1 to collect the car. job number 720/9031724 It was under the wrong name K Martin That's not the reason Your manager couldn't find me information as I gave him the reg of the car. Pressure selling at it's worst

I purchased a car battery in store about a year ago. The young lad working there asked me 4 or 5 times if I would join the Motoring club for discounts etc in future at the extra cost of £30. I repeatedly said no but he persisted so in the end caved in because it got awkward. As I knew, I did not make use of any of these benefits as I just don't shop at Halfords normally. Now I have received an email saying my membership will auto-renew and I will be charged £60. I did not agree to this! I just contacted Halfords via their web chat to cancel this and prevent being charged next month, where I was once again mercilessly chased to keep the membership but with a £10 discount. They just do not listen. I was very clear that I wanted the membership cancelled and no further money taken. I didn't even get around to trying to get a refund in the first place for the membership I was pressure sold. It took 10 minutes to convince them to cancel my membership. Very shifty way of operating and expect better from a big brand.

Absolute crooks

Absolute crooks. Booked in for an Aircon check and quote at Cambridge (Coral). They quoted for a new condenser and High pressure pipe (£1868 inc labour). The price for parts is 4 x the dealer price. How can this be allowed. Are there no industry regulators?

What a poor experience

What a poor experience, the website recommended the wrong tyre for car, the mechanic was a nice chap but unfortunately the call centre is a waste of time diesha couldn't help as she didn't even have a clue what she was talking about. Now I have to go somewhere else when I have an MOT booked, completely messed me up and not convenient atal maybe you should only have people who know there job on the phones.

Went to Halfords Crewe this morning looking for wax oil for under car didn't see any ask young person on the desk and whats wax oil never seen it before it's supposed to be a car/bike shop the Crewe one looks to be a waste of time to go to I looked at the bike plugs they have the tiniest amount you could get in tea caddy

Had car booked in for mot at Cheltenham…

Had car booked in for mot at Cheltenham branch, had been booked in for 3 weeks, was told 3 hours before due that it had to be cancelled. And they blamed the internet. Took a day off work so have lost that aswell. Absolute crap service

I have booked a dash cam fitting 4…

I have booked a dash cam fitting 4 times now and each time received a call on the morning of the fitting to say it has been cancelled. Furthermore this was from 3 different halfords stores. Very frustrating.

Newark auto centre

Newark auto centre. Avoid for your MOT, failed my car then quoted works worth up to £1300, had all the work done by a trusted local mechanic at a 3rd of the price. Just trying to make themselves more work.

Completely unhappy with Halfrauds Slough

Somewhat dismayed by the Slough Halfrauds & the air-conditioning re-gas done for my Daughter & son-in-law today. The system was clearly empty but the store failed to follow the proper procedure. They simply used top-up cans to fill the system. At no point did they follow the UK Law, i.e. In the UK, a professional air conditioning (AC) regas procedure for vehicles must adhere to legal requirements to prevent refrigerant leaks and ensure environmental safety. The process involves mandatory refrigerant recovery, leak checks and repairs, and the use of approved equipment by qualified personnel.
