All quick, efficient and friendly

All quick and efficient pickup and return. Super friendly personnel. We had to to update the Warrent of Fitness, so that was an unfortunate mistake, can happen one time, but GoRentals apologised intensively and refunded us 2 days rent. Very nice.

I left an expensive pair of glasses in the car on return. GO Rentals told me they would hold it for me for 6 months until my return to NZ

Don't use Go Rentals if arriving around 5pm

UPDATE to their reply: The one email I received after the office weren't able to reach me on the phone (as I was flying) did not say anyone would be waiting for me after hours. I was mislead by that email. It said the Office Hours closed at 5pm and I had to confirm asap if I was going to be collecting the vehicle. Which I couldn't do whilst in transit. So upon arrival at 5pm, not knowing where the office was, unable to call them back due to the automated out of office message, I find an email which led me to believe the Office was closed and I didn't have a vehicle to pick up. More to the point - when I booked online, there was no indication in the booking process that 5pm was after hours or that there would an issue getting the car at that time. So this needs updating/clarifying. If someone is booking a car pickup at 5pm and the office closes then the booking system should automatically notify the customer & advise what the after hours pick up procedure is. Furthermore, their process for what information is given via email in the event of not being able to reach the customer via the phone needs to be clarified. And options provided if the customer can't be reached to confirm if they have paid in advance, like I had. My 1 star review still stands. Original Review: Don't book a car anywhere until you arrive. The office isn't in the terminal, it's outside the terminal a short walk away. I couldn't find it when I arrived which was stressful. I booked online while in Australia before my flight back to NZ. I arrive in Queenstown and can't find a service desk. I check to see if their website mentions directions, but I don't see any clear directions. I try to phone their office but it went straight to an auto 'out of office hours' message. I then check my emails and find one that says they tried to phone me (while I was midflight) and that the office closes at 5pm which wasn't clear. I tried to phone them back, again out of office response. I wasn't aware that anyone would be still in the office waiting for me. I made other arrangements because I believed that I had no car available and meanwhile I missed calls from the office as my phone wasn't set properly after getting off the plane. They refused to refund me due to it being "under 24 hours notice" of cancellation and it was "my choice" not to take the vehicle" when I wasn't aware there would still be a vehicle for me to rent. It was a stressful, disappointing and expensive experience.

GO refused hire and kept deposit

Appalling. I paid for rental in advance. Hours before landing in New Zealand for car pick up, GO Rentals refused my hire because they wouldn't accept my valid current temporary Canadian drivers license. It doesn't state this anywhere on their site nor their rental agreement. They then kept nearly $500 of my deposit for a cancellation fee and related costs - on a rental they cancelled. I tried for weeks to resolve this + they don't care. Their competition hired me the same vehicle with my same license at a better price.

Don't do it. Be VERY careful re credit card info

Don't do it. The most expensive by far including the fact they touch your credit card for toll charges seperately so they can rip you off $25.00 each time. Underhanded indeed. Will never rent from them again. Their competitors st least have business integrity .Two seperate lots of toll charges over a whole month AFTER my 4 day rental, each incurring an extra $25.00 charge despite the toll charge itself. The lose of business already from me for a nine day rental over Christmas I suspect was not cost effective. 😉 Update: Interestingly GoRental "can't find" my booking but have all the info they need to have dipped into my credit card account and taken two payments AND I have GoRental originated emails. I reached out several times to enquire about these questionable charges and was responded to with "this is how we do it" and my money was taken TWICE. SO the GoRental response is not even a passable attempt at swerving from well earnt bad PR. I simply call B/S . My feedback stands . FURTHER UPDATE.....YET GO RENTALS EMAIL ORIGINATED WITH DEMANDS FOR MONEY THEN CLAIM TO HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE BEFORE PASSING IT OFF. THINK I NEED TO TAKE THIS FURTHER.SOMETHING VERY UNDERHANDED GOING ON HERE. BEWARE !!

Its cheaper and more convenient to just buy a secondhand car while visiting from Australia. Support the real locals and don’t get disappointed 🙏🏼😊

I paid to hire a car via GO rentals due to travelling internationally from Australia. My payment was made in full including full insurance. The phone call from the airport to the shuttle bus to get to reception was very prompt and simple, they knew exactly who i was when I arrived before even proceeding with identification. I arrived at the GO rental company to be then declined with releasing a vehicle due to not physically having the card I booked with because I’m travelling internationally and my bank had provided me with a travel card. I had my driver licence and passport for proof of ID aswell as full access to my to my card that I booked with via the wallet application on my phone aswell as proof of all my card details via my banking application too but this unfortunately didn’t abide by the company policy. This resulted in me falling under the category of “cancelling” my hire car and losing the full amount of money I paid.

Dishonest, deceiving and no customer service

I don't appreciate the dishonesty and lack of clarity from the staff when we hired a car to have a snow holiday. Vehicle was provided with snow chains, which obviously reading all the below reviews, staff is aware rash happens. We had our chains fitted by a professional before we get to the mountain. Upon dropping car off, it was inspected by 2 people and was ok. But suddenly 2 weeks later we get to pay a $3,000 bill to fix a rash that apparently happened from us. And they would give us the difference of what it would end up costing. Obviously staff is well aware of the issue happening and they just go ahead and charge anyway no matter what you say. I even sent them a picture of how the chain was fitted and it shows no excess chain hanging. But it won't matter to them. Chain rash is not covered by insurance also but noone will tell you. Instead they expect you to read the whole agreement which says it there apparently. I asked we can negotiate the amount as I don't feel its fair what they have done but they ignored my comment. Very deceiving as a company staff doesn't care enough cause obviously they will do whatever. And absolutely no customer service at all from their side. Would not recommend. Will look into raising with the tribuneral in NZ and put a formal complaint in with the consumer affairs in NZ also.

Absolutely appalling service

Absolutely appalling service! Go rentals are currently with holding our excess fee of £1500 even though the other driver accepted full liability, the car has been repaired and the other driver’s insurance had paid out. We have been in an ongoing dispute for 4 months now to the point where go rentals are not emailing us back and have refused to pass on higher management details to escalate our complaint further. Very very disappointed

Dishonest staff compromising safety

Rented car in a ski area - Queenstown. Asked about chains as I had forgotten mine. Counter staff lied and said you can’t get chains for a Tesla. I replied, well I have chains for mine and Tesla sells them on their website. Story then changed to that they don't want to risk use of chains on a Tesla. So, Go Rentals attitude is to risk the safety of renters hiring cars in winter at a tourist location where many or most renters are going skiing.
