Go rentals pulled through at the last minute for an affordable rental and had a cool selection of cars. it is the 3rd time of been to them and i do not think i could go anywhere else. Price wise they are affordable and the have vehicles for every need.

eine firma mit menschlichkeit und herz! mein flug hatte verspätung, daher war ihr office in auckland am abholtag schon geschlossen und ich musste auckland am nächsten morgen auch so zeitig verlassen, dass ich es gar nicht mehr abholen konnte. sie haben mir dann freundlicherweise nur den ersten tag in rechnung gestellt, obwohl meine buchung keine cancellations vorsah. absolut top! bin sehr dankbar und würde jederzeit wieder mit ihnen zusammenarbeiten.

The rental car developed a fault, which made it undrivable, and after contacting Go Rentals I had to pay the garage bill myself to get back on the road. Each time I contacted Go Rentals to get a refund they agreed it was due and promised to sort. And each time they failed to act. After 3 months I'm still out of pocket for repairing their faulty vehicle.

We booked a car in Christchurch. The booking went fine and a shuttle has picked us up at the airport. Until there all good. But when i showed my Swiss driver license, he asked that i need to have a translation. On the driver license, you have the drive license in different languages. There were three fields not translated in english. I proposed to use Google translate to show the three fields. The agent insisted that it's a policy and did not accept my proposal. I had to pay another 60 $ for an external translation. For 3 fields ! I get it when it's in a language with letters you don't understand. But in this case, it's out of my reach. We rented different cars in NZ. None of the other agencies asked for a translation.

Initially all was fine. Things ran like clockwork and given a nice new car for the rental. However, the documents they provided for the rental were not correct and I need correct ones for an insurance claim. Very difficult to get any kind of help from them with both myself and my insurance company asking for this one document I need to complete my claim and no response.

Go Rentals and the team were very helpful and supportive when we needed to change our plans due to the Interisland Ferry cancellations. The team were responsive, supportive and understanding. They helped us stay on track on our holiday and offered great value, low stress change over of our rental to the new vehicle. Can't praise the team enough for everything they did for us!

Had booked with Go Rentals for a trip upcoming in Queenstown. Have had to cancel the trip due to an injury and given a weeks notice. Since there was a prepayment made, I’ve been charged 10% for the cancellation fee, 10% for the refund of the pre-made payment fee, plus an administration fee. All up have lost 20% of the total booking amount. Recommend not paying in advance so if anything arises you won’t be charged so much. Really unhappy and won’t be rebooking!

Clearly those who have given good reviews were fortunate in not having problems with the poorly maintained cars which Go Rental provide. Be aware though, if your car has mechanical problems, you will get very little help, and will feel abandoned! On the first occasion that the car wouldn’t start, Go Rental told me that I would have to ring the AA myself and pay them NZ$184 in advance, for them to attend, even though I had paid for full ‘“peace of mind” cover. Go Rental would not even make that call for me! I was also told that I could not use my UK mobile phone to call them and would have to arrange to use the phone of somebody with a New Zealand phone!! - imagine how difficult that was! I eventually managed to contact the AA, and after paying NZ$184 they attended, commented that the battery was badly corroded, and just started the car with their own power supply. The following day, it wouldn’t start again. I tried to contact the local Go Rental manager, but he did not answer either his mobile phone, nor his landline. He ignored my voicemail, and did not respond to my email, so I called the local office. I was told that they were short-staffed and asked me to jump-start the car and drive it to their local depot, a 30 minute drive away so they could put in a new battery. How I was supposed to jump start an automatic car, which was stuck in the hotel car park, was beyond my understanding. Eventually the battery was replaced and we were able to restart our journey after another long delay, but sadly much of our schedule for the day had to be abandoned causing enormous disappointment. Additional faults with the car, were a headlight didn’t work, and the brakes shuddered badly at times. Finally, we returned the car to the Go Rental depot in Christchurch, and given all the problems which we had, we asked that one of their staff drive us the short distance back to the City. Our request was met with an outright refusal, and I must say, that summed up the uncaring attitude of every member of the Go Rental staff that we had the misfortune to deal with! My initial complaint resulted in a derisory offer to compensate us, which was eventually increased to 25% of the rental cost, but was still an inadequate recompense for such appalling service. The company’s Chief Operating Officer wrote to me “We hold our hands up to inadequate maintenance of this vehicle, which is what caused the issues you experienced and for that we genuinely apologise”, but he then went on to say that he thought his team had acted ‘professionally’! Clearly, the senior management are happy with providing such poor service, and the rest of the company have adopted a similar ‘couldn’t care less’ attitude. Look at other options before using this company - they provide poorly serviced vehicles and have uncaring employees. I gave them the opportunity to make amends, but they fell short on that too.

Hired a 7 seat Prado for 8 days. Online check-in was very easy and vehicle pickup and return very efficient. Waited about 10mins for the shuttle. Staff were great. My enquiry emails were responded to very quickly. Pricing was very competitive. Vehicle was exactly as described and didn't miss a beat. A1 experience across the board.

Cancellations: The company says that there is a 10% Cancellation Fee if one cancels more than 24hours before the booking in their feedback to people complaining about the fee in the reviews. (Refer Clause 23.2 of the T&C). However what they don't say that there is a further 10% Processing Fee on the refund so that the total fee becomes 19%. (Refer Clause 23.3 of the T&C Deceptive statements by "The Go Rentals Team" by not providing all the information.
