EWT system contaminated my water supplybought a water filter system in 2015…

We bought a water filter system in 2015 from EWT. In the last two months we have had problems with our dishwasher water inlet filters becoming blocked with a resin paste. Quite worrying because this is the same water as coming out of our taps to use. I couldn't work out where it was coming from. It turns out this resin paste was in fact resin balls leaking from EWT's water softener system. We had the system annually serviced by EWT so not happy that we have been using water contaminated with these resin balls. I have been asking EWT for a service for a number of weeks and still awaiting a response. I tried to remove the softener system from our water supply to find out that no isolation taps were fitted when it was installed.

Not Recommended – EWT is no longer what it used to be My last review of EWT was positive – I wrote it about 8 years ago when many of my neighbours were installing water softeners from this company. The first few years of use were absolutely fine. We were told that an annual service would keep our lifetime guarantee active. Although the service price increased year after year, it still felt like a good deal. Two years ago, I had my first issue with the filter. A technician came out and repaired it without any problem or charge. Unfortunately, in January of this year, the filter started leaking those small resin beads into the system again. This time, I was told the warranty only covers labour, not parts, so I had to pay for the repair. At the same time, several of my neighbours also began to complain about EWT’s customer service. I learned that the company had changed ownership – and ever since, it seems like they only care about making money rather than honouring their original commitments. It’s a real shame that such a good company with excellent service in the past has gone downhill like this. Never again.

Very disappointing customer service

Very disappointing customer service. I was instructed to contact them via the email address provided, which I did. However, it has been 48 hours, and I’ve received no response whatsoever. This level of service is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the company.

Matthew....an excellent service engineer.

Matthew, (service engineer) serviced our unit in March 2025. We have no hesitation, whatsoever, in recommending him. His courteous manner in answering our relevant queries was excellent. A very satisfied customer ....will definitely ask him to service our unit again.

Abysmal

Abysmal. Very hard to contact by phone; hopeless on email - and just evasive and difficult. Engineer never showed up. Just the worst customer service ever. Avoid! I paid Β£160 in advance for a no-show. Now I have to wait up to 14 days for a refund. They are a scam from end to end

They used to be good company prior 5…

They used to be good company prior 5 years and very proactive to book service etc... Nowadays its very tough to speak to any customer care representative or get in touch to book a service appointment. We need to file a legal complaint regarding their support! poor service and they are running down the drain! My water softner kit has gone bust releasing resin pack and completely contaminated water and water pressure is horrible even through we have routed direct. You call the customer care and youre alway in #1 in the queue! Joke company!

Stay clear

I’m sure the company must be going bust. They do not answer any emails , they do not call back and you cannot get an online advisor. They cancelled our last service with no warning. Stay clear of this company

Total disaster

Used to be great, but it's far in the past! Don't waste your time and money, the service EWT are providing - just a disaster! Better to go somewhere else… We dealt with the company for more than 2 years and after the service this year we decided to move to another company. The initial service was delayed for almost a month! When we finally got the service scheduled - it got cancelled and NOBODY contacted us, they just never showed up and when we finally were able to reach out to them (which is by the way mission impossible) they just told us that the engineer cancelled our appointment and they don't know why… Our numerous emails, completed contact forms on the website and requests for callback through the app were left ignored! And we received no apology for all the inconveniences whatsoever! When the engineer finally came, he completed the service in 10-15 mins max (much faster than it was done in previous years, therefore I assume that the quality of the service was not as it was before) and he didn't change the tap (which was always done before) and told us that its €50 extra (nobody told us that before he came) and that he doesn't have with him anyways… So, the company is a total disaster, save yiur money and time and stay away from them!

This is not a good service provider

This is not a good service provider, lack customer service, no professionalism of any kind. They are nothing but fraud and scam. It's a struggle to order salt for delivery, when there's issues you can't reach them so your problem remains.i don't think they should be allowed to operate.

The products aren't even that bad

The products aren't even that bad, but they do break. The real problem is that you can't get in touch with the company. They don't answer calls. The leak reports are ignored no matter how many times you submit them. You end up with really serious issues and need to try and source a plumber to fix leaks, etc., yourself. Then, you are left with non-functioning equipment and lots of money down the drain.

Lack of support

We informed EWT that we had tested the water in our house and that the test showed that our water wasn't soft. So an engineer came to deal with the problem. Before he came we had water coming from our hot taps when we turned them but none after his visit. During his visit he found that a filter in the water softener was broken . He replaced the filter and said that this was causing resin to go into our system and that we should contact our boiler people to clean the boiler filter and then we would have hot water. We found out that we weren't covered by our boiler people because the problem was caused by EWT. We ended up having to pay the boiler engineer to get our hot water back, We tried contacting EWT about this but with no success via phone or a contact service on their website. I perservered for days to get a response from them. However eventually we did get a response from EWT. They blamed the delay in responding to us to a company reorganisation. They washed their hands of any idea of paying the cost as they said that it resin issues were not covered by their insurance. We lost all trust in the water softener and by EWTs lack of support. So we decided to uninstall.We were told that it would cost us Β£100 to uninstall our water softener. They wouldn't agree to waive this fee. However, our trust in EWT and the water softener was gone so we went ahead with the uninstall and finish with EWT.

Quite the worst company I have ever…

Quite the worst company I have ever dealt with. I ordered online a new tap and filter, but didn't require the fitting service. Having paid, I received a text saying that I owed them an extra Β£80 for the fitting service. I tried many many times to ring them but they don't answer the phone (try them - 020 3510 6788). Their message says they provide a world class service before ringing off!) Many messages using their contact messenger service went unanswered. Today, unexpectedly a very nice gentleman from another company came to fit the tap! Needless to say he wasn't required.
