Customer Service Is Horrendous

Canadian Tire has misplaced $1900 of mine of Sept 9th. All I get from them is excuses and rude csr’s. They have not made one step forward in resolving the case and all I get is follow ups by “supervisors” who have not taken any effort to familiarize themselves with the issue. In turn frustrating me more and more.

scared of scammers

The bank can't face the scammers and return what they have taken from the tringle card by deception. It's unbelievable that this bank is not able to detain well identified scam companies by the police and anti-fraud specialists. Even with clear evidences, the bank stands against its costumers and says "sorry". I regret being a Canadian Tire master card holder for more than 10 years.

Avoid! No customer service and bad systems

I got the Triangle World Elite card but wasn't able to activate due to their poor systems and processes. The website (both credit card activation and the CTFS site) says to call but no one picks up. I called both the activation number and customer support multiple times, and I either get dropped due to "system error" (on the activation phone line) or wait hours (literally) without a response (on the support line). This was during their active support hours. Will cancel now because it's impossible to get the card activated. Avoid!

Canadian Tire Bank - Incorrect accounting operations performed on the credit card account

The following post shows how the Canadian Tire Bank operates and how it treats the customer. On May 13, 2024, I received an email with an offer: 6.9% Annual Interest Rate 0.0% Processing Fee until your September 2024 statement date I and every normal person understands that only after September 2024 will the regular annual rate apply to my credit card. But Canadian Tire Bank does not apply the above. So I describe chronologically: 1. I wanted to add a bill payment payee - specifically my National Bank of Canada credit card. Mastercard - National Bank Must begin with 5258, 5569 or 5550 but: "No results found, please try another search". I don't know why because my Echo credit card starts with: 5258 2. So on June 14, I made a balance transfer for $700 and I managed to do this: Confirmation: 086419 Payee: NATIONAL BANK FINANCIAL INC Amount: $700.00 Charged To: Triangle® Mastercard® .... But this amount has not been transferred to my bank account at National Bank. Due to this situation, I was forced to call customer service. On June 25, the agent promised that they would investigate where and to whom this amount went - because it was not on my account. 3. And at my request, she made a balance transfer: $800 directly to my NBC credit card, which is what I wanted to do at the beginning. And how does Canadian Tire Bank react and work in the above situation? On my invoice: statement date - June 24, 2024 I find: 2024-06-14 FBN-NBF 316 $700.00 and on the last invoice: statement date - July 24, 2024 2024-06-25 NATIONAL BANK MC $800.00 Consequently, even though no $700.00 was transferred to my bank account at National Bank, according to Canadian Tire Bank I should pay for it. After all, it's an embarrassment to the bank. 4. Now regarding the interest charged by Canadian Tire Bank on my account: - On my invoice: statement date - June 24, 2024 the bank did not charge any interest: interest charges - $0.00 - In turn, on the last invoice: statement date - July 24, 2024: 2024-07-24 PURCHASE *FINANCE CHARGE* 21.99% $20.98 2024-07-24 CASH * FINANCE CHARGE * - balance transfer 6.9% $4.52 total interest charges $25.50 How did the bank employees calculate it? How did the bank employees calculate it? And they do it even though they themselves provide me with the following information on the last invoice: special annual interest rate - 6.9% outstanding balances at the special annual rate - $804.52 regular annual interest rate after expiry date - 21.99% "after expiry date" - it's clear to me. In this topic, I called the customer service on August 2, 2024. And another surprise after this conversation, from the email I received: "Unfortunately, you do not currently qualify for a lower annual interest rate". - The bank employees didn't know about it when they sent me the offer? - Moreover: why do they charge me interest if I do not qualify for "a lower annual interest rate"? After all, this is a simple lack of logic and the inability of bank employees to fulfill their statutory duties. I asked to remove the amount of $700 from my account and to check the calculation of all amounts on my invoice related to the received offer and make a correction. I provided all the necessary information as above so that the bank could correct its errors. On August 10, 2024, I sent an email in the form of a complaint to the following address: customerupdate... - I have not received a response to this day. The bank just asks me to call them. I won't call the bank again. I have already called twice about this particular matter, no results. To this day, the bank has done absolutely nothing to clarify or correct this. Any other bank, after receiving the details I provided, would quickly make corrections, apologize for its shortcomings and mistakes and end the matter long ago. I know several banks in Canada because I have accounts and credit cards opened there. But no bank asks me for any telephone calls, they only contact me using the form: contact us and explain all reported matters, including disputes. Canadian Tire Bank is probably the only bank in Canada that cannot be contacted in the usual way. Answer from: customerupdate... "Please do not reply to this email. This communication is notification-only and will not receive responses". and from: customerservice.... RE: .... - "Undeliverable: The email address you entered couldn't be found". And this bank provides customers with the superior customer service. This further lowers Canadian Tire Bank's reputation. And I promise that I will never do any balance transfer again. It was a very bad experience for me. Krystyna

Worst credit card I have ever owned

Worst credit card I have ever owned I started off with the regular triangle credit card (Great card) Was told I’m approve for a upgrade I received this new credit card in the mail and left it as is, I use it and spend Guess what it’s not added to my account so no monthly withdraw So from $400 to being put on collection and paying out $1,700 today and tanking my credit score Please understand triangle credit cards are awful, I will continue to make sure everyone know this too, Unlike Amex or any other card I own if I have a second card they add it to my account automatically

Card request nightmare

I requested a card, I see the request on my credit file and CT Bank never gave any feedback. No decline, no approval, no card. I called to get a status, she said it may have been "purged" from their system as it's been over a month. This shows that CT Bank doesn't care about new customers and just "purge" them. My credit is top notch, nobody refuses me a card. During the call, the agent said she'll contact the lenders to see if they have anything, after a few minutes of on hold music, the line was disconnected. No call back. This kind of attitude from CT bank is a major road block for me. I would highly recommend to stay away.

Use it or lose it

Went to use my card that had a $20000 limit and it was declined while trying to make a $3200 purchase. According to the representative I spoke to. if you don’t use the card for a certain period they just cancel i without warning. I’ve never missed a payment while dealing with them.

They will charge you interest even though you paid off the invoice

Originally thought this was a decent opportunity for me to build my credit. I will be closing my account over a 5.97 "interest" charge from the previous owing amount (that I had paid in full BEFORE the interest was charged). On hold for a long time, no answer and I cant be arsed to sit here and wait for them to answer. Will pay the stupid 5.97 and close the account.

TERRIBLE customer support

I was booked to fly abroad and was scrambling to look for my CT world elite card. About a week before my flight, I decided to order a new one. They cancelled my CT card, and processed shipping a new one (this a bit after mid November.) A couple days before my flight, I found my card. Got around to calling CT hotline, and explained the situation, and asked if there was anything we could do here, or if she could advise what the next best move is. All the agent Lisa said to me was "there's nothing we can do". Then silence. I was a bit upset by her initial response, as she came across as rude and not wanting to help at all. Her tone felt a bit condescending as well. I asked her if I could reactivate my original card since I have it on my person. She said again "there's pretty much nothing we can do". Not even a sorry if I recall correctly. She then added "We can't reactivate the original card, we can't ship internationally" It was a pretty bad experience in my opinion, and I'd really like to have a supervisor or manager review the conversation and share what they think. Judging by the other reviews here, I'd say this is the standard customer experience. Canadian tire auto shop is also filled with terrible support agents as well. It's like their customer support training is centered on treating customers like garbage. You go there to spend good money for Winter tires and get trash experience. Call CT bank and they talk down to you as if they don't need the interest payments we CT bank customers bring them. Will never get my tires change at Canadian Tire, nor will I ever get another CT card again.

I called to rectify a situation where I…

I called to rectify a situation where I was double charged. Called in one day and the representative said that they will reverse one of the charges. I asked confirmed with him that it will not show up on my next statement. When I received my statement, of course the double charges were there! I called again and was treated very rudely by a woman that was the supervisor. She said that it was not possible to reverse charges and that I had to take it up with the merchant. I told her that I had called earlier in the month speaking with a gentlemen about the situation but of course there was no record of it! I have no clue how they train their agents but it looks like any clown can get a job there! This is a terrible company to deal with. They will tell you lies and treat you very poorly. If I can give zero stars if I could! Go with a different financial institute!

Trust the other reviews here and STAY AWAY from these clowns! They make up policies on the fly and refuse to deal honestly or openly with perfectly polite, legitimate enquiries.

First, I'm 66, have absolutely no debts, own my home free and clear, always pay off my PC Mastercard fully every month, have an impeccable credit rating and have never been tardy on any payment in my life. No deadbeat here. I went through all the proper protocols to apply to open a savings account so I could invest in a GIC. I was not seeking credit. Yet, this "bank" mailed me their account application kit - together with another letter stating their refusal to allow me to open any account with them, inviting my enquiry in case of questions... so I phoned as instructed. After proving my identity, the rep then flatly refused to explain the basis of their refusal letter, wildly alleging "privacy concerns" while insisting "we do not have to tell you that information" when I asked what the problem was (in hopes of resolving it). No help here, so I requested a supervisor, who came on the line and repeated exactly the same words. When I requested my call's transfer to a department where an answer might be possible, she simply put me on hold and left me there. After fifteen minutes of waiting in complete silence, I figured out their customer enquiry policy is to "put them on hold and they'll eventually go away", so I hung up. As these goofs refused to work with me on resolving something as simple as an obvious account opening glitch, I certainly wouldn't trust them to be in control of my savings or investments, particularly if there should arise any question as to my right to its return when requested. Trust the other reviews here and stay away from this terrible excuse for a Canadian cyber bank. They are irresponsible, uncooperative, arbitrary and unaccountable for any unjustifiable actions they take, elevating pathetic to a whole new level of stupidity. I'll never shop in a Canadian Tire again. Their entire brand is tainted now because of this, my business apparently not appreciated. Shame, because they've torpedoed a formerly profitable customer relationship. I used to think highly of Canadian Tire and shopped there regularly. Certainly, not anymore. Reader be warned!

Wish I read these reviews

Wish I read these reviews. Im young, I had no one to teach me about finances as a kid and when i turned 18 i had issues with a credit card due to my financial issues and life. It took me several years to get my credit sorted back out and i finally had a good score again. I was unsure if i should get another card and this company proved me right this time. They gave me a card with a very small limit and never mentioned that going over a certain percentage of your limit would negatively impact your score. My credit score dropped 20 point in 2 months. Even though i paid my card in full every two weeks. The final straw though was my last payment was made Oct10th and they still have a hold on my payment and said it wont be released till the 23rd. when i spoke to a supervisor She said i could fax them proof it sent but im tired of the payment run arounds. So today i closed my account. DO NOT GET THIS CARD!!
