Our experience with Conveyancing Direct was a total letdown. It felt like we were completely in the dark, especially as first-time buyers, thanks to their lousy communication. Going through the complaints process, we were constantly brushed off, pretty much putting all of the blame on us for not magically understanding a process we hired them to guide us through. One of the most frustrating things was receving all of the crucial documents we needed, including the fixture and fittings form, DAYS before exchanging. Most of these documents were dated four months prior to this but apparently that's completely normal to be unaware of the details of the house you are buying until it's too late? I know solicitors are typically slow and require you to chase a lot, but when the company are failing to reply to complaints within their own 'prescribed time frame', you know something is wrong. And when they eventually did, they managed to send it to the wrong email addresses entirely - superb attention to detail. If you are purchasing through Connells and have been connected to this company, don't do it. Just Google a well-reviewed local solicitors and use them. Our sellers were also using Conveyancing Direct and we thought it would make the whole process smoother, but I don't think they were handled by the same office, let alone the same team/person. And if they were, I have absolutely no idea how they can manage it so poorly as the reason we were forced to exchange so quickly at the end of the process was due to how frustrated the seller was with them too. There's plenty more we could mention, but in short: avoid them at all costs. The endless bad reviews speak for themselves.
Me and my partner have had a very good time with this company our solicitor Tom Mclaren-Roberts has been such a star always available when we have questions and was always quick at completing everything we needed
I just want to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks for all the support and dedication you've shown me throughout this journey. I truly appreciate the time you've spent answering my calls and guiding me, no matter how many times I reached out. Your patience, professionalism, and steadfast commitment have made a significant impact, and I’m genuinely grateful for everything you've done. Thanks again for everything! This review goes out for Tom Mclaren-Roberts. From mr and mrs Momoh

Wouldn’t recommend this company. Had problems with communications, lack of updates and sometimes it seemed as if there was no urgency to complete this conveyance.

Poorly advised. We purchased a right to buy property 2 years ago from the council, the existing providers interest rate was high at the end of the 2 years term so we sought a remortgage. This company said that they could support that and we were accepted for the remortgage, later to be declined by Skipton after filling out reams of paperwork, witness statements and a trip to the solicitor for a signature only to be declined at the 11th hour because they didn’t know that the council wouldn’t accept a different lender. ( or too difficult to administrate, they didn’t really know ). What a waste of time. Not knowledgable to advise and refer questions and queries to the lender. Lender also time wasting. Correspondence from both is slow and lacks personalisation. We now have an even bigger rate due to renewal imminent and no options. Poor service all around.

We sold a rental property to a first-time buyer, to live in. The conveyancing was pretty much as expected. They use a website that lets you know what reports and items are needed, like your ID and password etc, and the items get ticked off as you go along, so you know how the process is progressin, to a point. We have various delays due to the mortgage type the buyer was using but not due to the conveyancing. I do think that more regular updates, even if there isn’t any update, would be beneficial. The experience was generally good but the process is so frustrating at times you tend to fixate on the negatives which are mostly caused by the not knowing what is going on and presuming the worst. We where asigned Delyth Thomas and some forms that needed signing where a little last minute.

The sale of our property was long and drawn out with the first two attempts falling through. However we took confidence, knowing that with Conveyancing Direct, it was no sale, no fee and each time our conveyancer picked up where we’d previously left off. With a difficult market and difficult personal circumstances we completed third time round. Our conveyancers Donna McCarthy and Hannah Hemstock made everything as easy as possible and were proactive in chasing our completion. We were kept informed throughout and guided through the process step by step to achieve a stress free and positive conclusion.

The 3 houses involved in our chain all sold within 4 days of each other (with our house and our buyers house going under offer within days of being listed), so we were all ready to proceed at basically the same time. Naively, I thought this would mean completion well within the average time frame of 12 weeks. That may have been the case if we hadn't agreed to go with these recommended solicitors from our estate agents William H Brown. I have had to chase Mereville Abroquah every step of the way. Slow at her job is an understatement, and she shows no emotion with anything, never goes the extra mile, blames everyone but herself and never apologises. We are now in week 17 and still haven't completed. A date was set for last Friday, but we were informed the afternoon before that more documentation was needed (something that should have been noticed weeks ago) , so everything had to be cancelled. A house move we were so looking forward to has been turned into a very stressful nightmare, which it wouldn't have been if people had done their jobs competently. We put our house up for sale at the end of June specifically because we didn't want to move in the winter, but that is exactly what is going to happen. After reading these reviews, it would seem like quite a few of their staff need a rocket up their backsides!! These are people's lives they are ruining. Next time I will go with a local solicitor, who would be much cheaper and probably more reliable!

Never, ever, ever will i use CDPL again! Time and time again, this company is so slow, incompetent to say the least and unprofessional at most. It started well, Emma was helpful asking for all the relevant information as soon as the sale was agreed, however as we reached the end, she started week by week asking for documentation which she should have asked at the start- delaying the sale further and further. To be honest, if I could replace them, I would have done so. My advice to anyone looking for a conveyancing company is DON'T TOUCH CDPL unless you want the hassle, nightmare and cost we have been put through. Even at the last minute, Emma is still talking about signing a document!!! If I can give them a minus minus - a billion, then I would😡😤

I found communications easy, Lucy my property lawyer was responsive by telephone & email. She dealt with my case efficiently and had a difficult time with buyer solicitors dealing with their poor management & unresponsiveness in a professional manner. I would recommend this service based on my experience

It's difficult to know how to score this review. Delyth's communication was pretty good and she did answer e-mails promptly and, in the end, the sale went through OK. However, the process was o=more painful that it needed to be. It wasn't until about 48hours before the initial completion date that I was informed of various documents that were still required. Getting the Conveyancing Direct legal people to accept that I am who I say I am was a nightmare - simply because I happen to live in France! Thankfully I had the time/flexibility to jump through their hoops but if I'd been working full-time it might have been another story.
